No exercise for me yet. I leave home at 7am every morning to go to Job 1 and get bome from Job 2 at 9.30pm Monday to Thursday. I work Job 1 on Friday and Job 2 on Saturdays. Sundays are housework, shopping or socialising....
I went for my first walk on Friday night after work and this morning spent 3 hours helping my son clean up my yard....
My husband passed away from cancer on 2 August 2008 and after he died I realised just what I was unable to do to keep a home running smoothly...Hence one of the reasons for the surgery..I was able to physically keep going in the yard today, something I could not have done prior to my surgery.

27 May bandito here - my update
I went on Optifast for the two weeks prior to surgery and lost a massive 15 kgs (one dietician called me a freak). From my surgery date to first fill I had gained some weight, only about a kg....2 ml was put in and things were ok but in the few weeks prior to my second fill (Monday of this week) I was able to eat more, hungry in between meals and able to slug my water....I didn't think I had much of a weight loss (though my clothes told me differently)..I jumped on the scales at the doctors in Coffs Harbour on Monday and I had lost 6.4kg in 6 weeks...WOW! The doctor had reservations about putting in a fill, given the good weight loss....but I begged him to give me a fill because of the hunger...anyway 1ml of saline later I could feel the restriction on drinking the water...No more slugging for me, sips to be sure and unable to eat as much again....As a reward I went to the shops in Coffs Harbour and bought myself a new pair of jeans....Size 22.....My clothes were previously Size 30...OMG, It felt so great....that was 5 clothes sizes! Incredible!
27 May 2009 - Operation weight 140kg (BMI 50)
10 Aug 2009 - Last fill weight 120kg (BMI 44)

| Just back from drs and he did another fill so now have 8mls. So far I haven't had anything that I can't eat so this might make a difference now. Although just keeping the amounts small would be good and still have the food I like eg potato cooked with skin on, fresh bread etc. |

Hey Katie!!
I found that i wasnt losing alot of weight in the beginning either.
How long have u had the band for? your weightloss is still terrific!! I find that I do more cardio related exercise in place of weights at the gym and my 4th fill was the one that made a difference.
You will get there, I know its hard! I hit my plateau and got annoyed as i was doing everything but the weightloss stopped, sometimes it just stays stagnant for a couple of weeks then takes off again.

Hi All,
I am a little disallusioned. Have only lost 9kg (and most of that with Optifast), coming up to my 3rd fill and am worried I will never lose the weight that everyone else is losing. I still feel like I am on a diet and having to use will power all the time. Any ideas anyone?
Thanks,
Katie |

Hello Girls
I hope everyone is extremely well, and finding new happier smiles everyday for all the little joys with loosing weight.
Im now into the old jeans from years ago which are tight, but damn it I'm wearing them instead of my but t falling out of the size 20 ones, best news is, I thought they were a 16, nope they are a 14!!! great for a little giggle.
I havent been able to weigh in due to no scales where I have been living, but back home for a few days, and my scales here tell me I am under 100kg!! woo hoo, so thats 32 kg lost, another 32 to go, I'm teetering on the half way mark.
I have my 2nd fill today, and know I need it. I can eat most things, and still struggling with emotional eating every now and then, yesterday was a good day, but i have had a few not so good days.
I'm staying on optifast with extra protien to help keep me satisfied like poached eggs, tuna and yoghurt. heaps of broccoli!
still loving my peppermint tea!
I'll b away from friday again for a month, so I'll pop in fr my friday weigh in a day early, fingers crossed I stay under 100- its nearly that time of the month, so i am expecting fluid retention, oh well,
x karen |

Hi girls,
I went back to my surgeon on tuesday, after having 2 weeks of hell.. (not band hell, personal hell - a family friend and work collegue passed away 2 weeks ago) she agreed with me that the stress of it all would have tightened the band, and that now its worn off i could do with some more fill..
4mls - 5 weeks post op
1ml - 7 weeks post op
.3ml - 10 weeks post op...
am finally feeling like i'm hitting the right amount... looking forward to seeing how it all goes in the next two weeks... i'll be at the avenue at 4pm on the 17th if anyone wants to catch up. :)

My scales don't seem to be moving at all at the moment .. except if you count moving up and down the same couple of kilos. I'm very frustrated at the moment as I am eating so little and exercising my ass off. Off to see the surgeon and dietician next week .. hopefully my scales are in the process of packin it in and their scales will show a better outcome.
NOT HAPPY

Hi Girls,
I finally have "RESTRICTION!! Yey!! It's not a lot, but it has certainly helped heaps. He only put 1 ml in last week, (2 in total) but it has boosted it up enough for me to only eat small quantaties. So am loosing a bit now - so pleased!! (1 kg off!!) I have another appointment next week and will get another bit in as I am sure this will "wear off" a bit.
Kelli: I'm expecting it to take quite a while for me to get to me "sweet spot".
Anyway, all the best everyone.
love Trace

Hi Guys,
I had my second fill almost 2 weeks ago, I now have 4mls but feel I probably need another 1.5 - 2mls but my next appointment isn't until 27th of August.
I was just curious as to whether anyone has found they are at their correct amount of fill and if so how many fills did it take?
xKelliex

Hi Amy,
Hang in there! I find i will be ok with losing for a couple of weeks, then i will have 2 weeks where i gain or stay the same. You have done so well already! 15kg is amazing! Sounds like you are doing all of the right things, so just keep it up, stay positive, and eventually the weight will continue to move again. Sometimes our bodies need a little time to catch up - we have made so many changes already!
Love,
Marg :-) |

Hi guys,
I have been so so sick that last 2 days. I think i got some chicken stuck on Sunday afternoon, and ever since then anything i eat i vomit. Usually if i PB i dont retch, but this has been really bad. Anyway, i went to see my nurse for an emergency unfill around lunch time and she pulled all my fill out, let me skull a bottle of water, then put most of it back in (however im fairly sure she took a big whack out). Feel so out of sorts today - pale, headache, listless... wah wah wah. On a positive note though - im officially 15kg down today! That was an exciting surprise when i jumped on the scales this morning! Especially after the shocker night i'd had!!
Hope everyone is cruising along well. I'm so glad your surgeon can fit you in quicker now Trace! I cannot believe how patient you have had to be! Congrats on the weightloss!
Love,
Marg xox |

Hi Everyone,
I've been avoiding all things band related as I was getting a bit down. I'm happy to say I'm very pleased today as I finally have had my second fill and the surgeon has me booked in for my next two fills after two week intervals. I am so pleased as I feel like my journey has been held up a bit. So today he added another ml, so I now have the grand total of 2 mls in. I was also happy to have not gained over the past 6 weeks since me last fill. He gave me a slightly hard time about not loosing much, but I am fine with that. Anyway, I've lost 1 more kg, so that is a grand total of 12.2. Happy enough with it - as long as the scales keep going down - even if its all a bit more gradual than I had hoped. Stay with it Cath - I know how you feel!!
