Just relax Karen, you only had a band put in, not a personality transplant. You will always be you no matter what the scales say.
On the other hand, I was hoping for an improvement in my moods with weight loss. Might be asking for too much though

Sept last year and February this year I travelled to Europe - both trips were herendous. During the earlier trip it got better by the end of the trip - in February I was in absolute pain - when i returned I found out I had osteoarthritis. I may be going again next year - by this time I hope to comfortably fit in a plane seat and be able to pull down the meal table in front of me.
I have read of people loosing 80 kg in a year - how is it possible - gym and massive exercise I suppose. That cuts me out with the osteoarthritis.

Ah Karen, im short - so 85 for me is a lot! 30kg til i reach goal!
I'm the same as you Cath - i have lots of fruit, veg and meat, but i get the run down tiredness also. It must be the hectic combination of work plus study. And, yes, i like you, only take vitamins when i remember! Just take it easy on yourself sweet. I'm not sure how i would cope with your schedule plus 5 kiddies, plus the whole ups and downs of the banding journey! We're here for you!! xox

LMAO - Karen you're a nut! Your posts always make me laugh! I must admit, im a bit the same with the shower routine now though!
You girls shouldn't feel down about the scales not moving! I went through that for about 3 odd weeks! They will move again - i PROMISE!!! I'm almost at my first goal of 85 this morning (85.1 - bugger!!!!) Haven't been this weight in two years! Woot! Can't wait to hit the 70s! I have a work conference at end of June, and im hoping i will hit 79.9 by then, but that's a bit of a tough call, especially as i seem to be losing very slowly. Oh well, i will try and be good and see what happens.
Cath - i understand the choc problem!! Blardy hell. Do you know, pre-op i could go weeks without choc, now i can't go one day! Im blaming my dietician this time - he should never have told me i have to have it! And of course, we all know how hard it is to limit the choc intake, so if there's a block, it's bye bye - all gone!
It's a bummer that you're feeling tired Cath. Are you taking a good multi?
Much love,
Marg xox |

another thing i think is funny, also because i make the time for it is my shower routine.
i used to just jump in, wash my hair, a good soap, out dry, get dressed without even looking in the miroor and running out the door- no make up, same earrings every day, same uniform of wideleg pants and a loose black top/shirt and work boots
now, well, my hair gets colored and cut every 8 weeks, i'm having a shower scrub with nice bath gel stuff- alchemy orange blossom is my current fav, all the waxing and fancy eyebrows, moisturiser, bio oil for my scars, face moisteriser, eye gel, perfume!!! I havent worn perfume for years! and even a little bit of make up if i have a meeting- or if i just feel like it. i even do my hair. holy cow, i'm turning into a barbie.
that's okay, counter balance is that i now fart heaps- and it's always loud lolololololol |

I have a full box of Optifast and I asked my surgeon whether I can take it instead of meals
so my plan is that when the scales aint moving - Optifast will be the option |

Hi Karen, I gave away all my optifast except a few choc shakes which I haven't touched since op day. Too many other nice things to drink. I am supposed to be studying but have my two youngest home from school and they're pretty noisy.I might have to send them outside soon.
I'm still pretty tired after returning to work for two days. I think I will have to start exercising to get some stamina back.

Ha ha Karen, keep us laughing, I will need some tooth whitening paste as well.
Whoever came up with the idea that you could send boxes of chocolate home to raise funds for school should be shot. You can sell them to your neighbours....as if! Had a white choc frog (large) with my cup of tea last night. Now I owe the box.Marg, whats the name of your dietician?
Lucyna, Hazel and I live about one hour west of melbourne.
I am also hoping to get in some regular dog walking soon.
Its getting cold and damp up here and I get cold sitting at the computer studying.
Scales not moving at all this week :(

hmmm chocolate mouse, i hope they come in tubs of one, there's no way i could only eat one, so, i know i just cant buy it.
im only getting milk and vegies from the grocer-i stocked up on cleaning gear and all other stuff simply so i wouldnt have to walk through the aisles of a supermarket being reminded of what i "dont eat" anymore
i bought myself fancy organic peppermint tea which tastes great, and i feel like im spoiing myself every time i make a tea.
thanks for helpin me along

good thing there's no chocolate in the house!!!
desperatly seeking chocolate, and my favourite is aero mint chocolate..............
it will have to be some peppermint tea....
i wish it could be chocolate peppermint tea, now there's and idea!
i must tell you I havent for ages, but used to make a salad dressing that tasted like chocolate- the absolute best ever dressing
the best freshest hazelnut oil you can get ( the expensive french poncy stuff at about 30 bucks for 200ml)
and this amazing vanilla honey balsamic reduction, whisked together and seasoned well- and dressed leaves made the sexiest salad that girls would cry over....
i wish guys like chocolate as much as girls |

Hey Lucyna, might introduce your Lulu to my fat lab, Hazel. Had to bath her at the weekend and I have been a bit sore under my ribs ever since. She was a bit reluctant to have eau de dead roo washed off her.

Hi Karen,
Just wanted to add, each surgeon his their own ideas as to placement of the port. Our doc in Bundaberg Qld places his ports on the right hand side of your tummy, and our scars for the lap band are in the centre at the very bottom of our ribs.
So if we were all lined up, it would be confusing hey, wouldn't be able to play lets join the scars lol.
Have a great day,
Gerry |

Hi Deb,
to respond to your queries,
the band is placed on your left hand side just under your rib- a long way up from your belly button- if you google images for lap band stomach- you should get the idea.
there is a lot of pain all over your tummy, and this will get better- be sure to stay with the liquids, clear if you can, and a little at a time. if you drink too quickly, you may hurt or feel full and bloated for quiet a while.
Most of my pain was gone by the third day. i have nopain now, but i do feel 'short' in the neck. i had a bowl of pureed veg soup at 12 and i can still feel it sitting there- not painful, i just know it's still there.
remember the pouch is the size of a golfball. this should give you and idea of what will fit there and stay comfortably and not come back to visit you.
hope this helps
cheers
have you got a few good movies to watch?
xo much love and care going your way, karen |
