lucyna,
just thought i would add

pre op on opti,i had a few lunch dates, i always rang before hand and asked for just a bowl of salad, or thin vegie soup. they were always happy to help seeing that i had prewarned them

these days food allergies/intolerances are very common, and if they dont try to help, dont go back.
hospitality is about being flexible, and getting the customer want thy want, not just what they want to sell

ps, i have my teeth whitener moulds in to stop the night time munchies already.....not that theres anything to munch around here, except pureed broccoli and peanut butter

satay anyone??

im not looking forawrd to tomorrow, th scales havent moved much, so im crossing my fingers for tomorrow. my jeans are getting looser, but i think thats because i ve worn them so much, and stretched them out, but they are still clean so theres no way im washing them yet!

on mushies and starting to struggle now.
still drinking all the water and my bladder is getting used to it now with lemon water and peppermint tea.
up and go's, or porridge with protien powder for breakfast, tuna with broccoli for lunch and dinner
and also some cottage cheese, tonight i splashed out and had a spoonful of peanut butter......wow!
i do alright during the day, its night time is hard whenim getting hungry now.
two days with out a walk either, but i did work hard today, so tomorrow morning a work sometime and also on the weekend.

got my fingers crossed big time
even the food ads on tv are starting to get to me!

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
Hi Maybies.

I'm going fine, still at the 98.1kg mark. Don't think I'm going to lose any this week though. Saw my Dr last week and he said I could start eating normal food. Now I've got the taste back (after the dreaded optifast) I don't seem to able to stop. I seem to be able to eat quite a bit before feeling full. Don't have my first fill for another 2 weeks - hope I don't put anything on until then. The Dr did say not to worry if I don't lose anything until that fill. I haven't had anything stuck yet, hopefully won't ever happen. I am hungry between meals though so that is upsetting me a bit, I thought the band would stop the hunger happening.

It's great to read all the posts everyday, it makes you feel like you're not alone.

Everyone keep up the good work!

Kathy

Karen, well done on taking the first step. Did you attend an info night or get a folder of info from your surgeon?
Reading these forums is a great place to get your head around lap banding. Don't get too stressed about people's band troubles though, they are concentrated on the forum because this is where bandits come for support and help.
Your appointments should be a time when you get to ask as many questions as you can think of, also here, ask away
Good luck,
cath

Hey Nonny great to hear from you. Sorry to hear about the pain after scrambled eggs, did you have toast with that? I have had eggs once and coped OK even with a bit of toast.
I have had a few minor incidents, most recently when eating vegie rice and (rather dry) chicken. I don't look forward to a major episode like you had.
Hope those scales started smiling soon,
Cath

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
Hey May Bandits just thought I would tell you about my experience at the GP today. In the past I have had a few run-ins with GP's.Having five kids I went through a stage when I was at the doctors every week with one or other or for myself and the frustration when I got c r a p py care snowballed. So I decided that along with this lap band I would get myself a new GP. Have seen him twice, second time today. For starters he congratulated me for getting the band.Followed by a long discussion, he wanted to know how I was coping, how I was feeling, if I was happy with my decision, weighed me, more congrats, took my blood pressure, discussed blood sugars, wrote me scripts and ordered blood tests.Very caring, encouraging and bulk billed me.Amaaaaazing...renewed my faith in the medical profession.
Just thought I'd tell you that :)

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
Hey all I'm back!!!!
I've been away and I now my computer wont log on to the internet so I am very limited and not checking in as much as usual.

Things for me are going well. I don't remember where I left off but my surgeon was happy with my progress when I visited him and popped an extra 2ml in the band for me. That was a week ago now and I'm still not eating much but I am getting hungry sometimes in between meals. I'm back to see him on the 17th.

I haven't been good with my vitamins either. I think I might try those flavour glides. Anyone else having solid tablets? I guess this is why I'm always yawning.

Although I'm eating very little (and mostly healthy) my weight isn't really moving. I am on a different scale now so I do hope I didn't put on 1.4kg and it's just the difference, I think I might invest in a good tanita or something. If it doesn't start moving down soon my patience might be lost though. I've been this same weight since 3 days post op.

I had one incident over the weekend where I think I got something stuck. Had scrambled eggs but an hour later pain hit me in the middle of my shoulder blades and across the sternum. OMG the pain. I writhed in agony for 2.5 hours before it settled slightly and I was in pain for the rest of the day. I can't understand why it would have taken so long before it hit though. I didn't feel my normal full signal.

LUCYNA - 80kg in a year is doable. Look at Bob from The Biggest Loser 82kg down in 5 months!

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
thanks Cath. You've eased my mind. You are so right about enjoying a "once in while" treat. In moderation what harm can it be. Honestly, let's look at what we were eating before! Arrhhh. Too scary to think.

Chocolate..... I want Marg's dietician!

Thanks again.

Have a great day!

How is everyone else travelling? Newly banded bandits. Hang in there!

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
Don't panic Ange, you're normal. We all need to break out occasionally and if half a glass of wine with your husband was what you needed at the time, don't feel guilty.Just enjoy! If we restrict ourselves too severly we end up feeling deprived and miserable and we got banded so we can enjoy life more.
I am three weeks banded and haven't had any alcohol yet but I will on special occasions and my birthday is coming up. Marg's dietician has put 8 squares of chocolate on her daily eating plan. I personally thought I might treat myself once a week with something that I wont eat every day.
Its also important that we maintain the relationships with those that are supporting us.I think a glass of wine with a partner is just one of many ways to do that.

Hi Girls,
I've been very naughty!!!! HELP! After 5 1/2 weeks I enjoyed half a glass of red wine with my husband with my dinner!!!! I know, I know. Eating and drinking with the band BUT tonight I was so thrilled to be having a "normal" but small dinner with him that a little bit of wine didn't seem toooo bad.. I also did not eat more because of it and also sipped very slowly... .. is this really that bad!! Arrrhhh... I have been soooooooooooo good for nearly 6 weeks.

Heyyy there,

Five days post op for me and today I have woken up feeling on top of the world. No pain! No wind! I'm drinking just fine (just a half a cup at a time over a half hour or so) and I'm dropping weight like no tomorrow. Though I know this wont last it's nice while it does. Go you girls!! You are doing fan-tas-tic.
