The gnocci was yum but fiddly little buggers I reckon.Standing at the stove doing one serve of gnocci at a time for seven people is a bit too labour intensive for me. By the time I got mine, my youngest was ready for bed!
Speaking of bed, does anyone find having their port area touched a bit 'distracting'.I have had to put it off limits in the cot!

Hey Cath, fresh gnocchi! oooh yum,
I made fresh pasta the other day and had a little taste, first carbs for about 6 weeks, but yummy.
I'm so proud of myself, I went for another walk today in the cold. i hope i can keep it up. i guess the weight loss motivation should keep me inspired.
i have my first fill next wednesday, and the dr's psychologist has been very helpful and caring.

off top ix however, i think that the snuggie is my dressing gown worn back to front, how ridiculous!! please some one tell me they think its a good idea-- bahahahahahaha!

Hi Maybees, Marg well done on the weight loss. I'm not looking forward to the tight restriction.
Ange, my friend is italian and we made gnocci together at her house. For dinner I ate about 10 nutigrain sized gnocci with a tablespoon of bolognese. It was yum.
Damn cold in my neck of the woods at the moment. Its a wonder my band hasn't frozen solid.
Still weeks til fill time for me.

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
Hi Marg and girls. Going really well... I think. Probably not eating enough. I'm still taking it slowly.. silly I know after almost 4 1/2 weeks. That's ok. I'm happy with it. Hubby would like me to eat more but I'm not really hungry between meals and my willpower is pretty strong. But... I am feeling good (albeit quite tired) and positive. Not drinking enough and keep forgetting my thryoid medication. It's so hard not drinking with meals hey?? I normally take my medication with breakfast juice etc. Weight loss is constant so I can't complain. Down to 97.. from 115 at start of pre op diet so I am so excited. I know I will need to take some risks soon and start to eat more but slow is best for me. Honestly though I am feeling great about it all..the best thing ever. We even had fish and chips the other night. I only ate the fish without the batter and some mash potatoe but it was good sharing with the family after all this time. Eating everything etc salad stuff and white bread and steak - haven't tried that yet.

Aren't you sorry you asked! Sorry for the long post.

Sounds like everyone is doing great. Most have even had a fill. I don't get one for another 3 weeks. If I need it that is. I don't know if I'll know. I will wait and see.

Did you see that Cath is eating gnoochi. OH MY GOODNESS I WOULD LOVE THAT. I might try it on the weekend.I'm such an italian!

Ciao for now.

Ange

Thanks love. I'm very excited.

I always have friday as my blow out day - weigh in then eat sheet all day long. going to have to stop that as the weightloss slows!!

I'm a late night munchie person too - have been thinking about just setting a bed time early to avoid anything like that - i think if i went to sleep at 830 every night i wouldnt pick so much. Just a theory anyway!

Kel i ate like a horse until i got a fill. Try not to overeat, as that isn't good. But i think as long as you're sensible and follow whatever dietary restrictions you have been told to follow at the stage you're up to - you can't cause damage i dont think.

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
meh im a chocolate addict karen - just made my boy go down the shop and buy me some. lol. oh well i ate bugger all today so a few extra cals wont kill - plus in hardcore study mode. Went to gym last night and went hard, and going back in the morning. Trying to lose my a55! lol! And believe me - there's a lotta a55 to lose!

Glad you're not so hungry - that really helps! I dont think i got hungry once today - just head hunger and routine really - oh yes it's brekky time, so im supposed to eat now. Slowly i think i will be able to break those habits.

Ohh!!! I think i forgot to tell you guys about my first kinda blockage yesterday. Well, i was eating soup!!! And something got stuck (yes, that's how tight my band is at the moment - a lentil can get stuck!!! lol). I got that "im gunna vomit" saliva pouring up into my mouth, eyes big and watering. I had to keep swallowing and swallowing and swallowing... got up and walked around and got that choked up potato feeling x3, hung my head out the window for about 2 mins for air, and finally it passed! LOL! Was sheeting myself after - chewed my lentil soup reeeeeeeal good! lol. That's my big news!

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
I love having the dietician esp since his speciality is lapband. He is able to explain why your doing things at each stage and can tell by what your eating whether you are ready to go to the next stage.
He is able to say how much of everything to have to help you heal eg in your half cup of food it should be 1/4 cup protein and 1/4 cup veggies and sauce which they have found better for healing. Then its giving an eating plan to make sure you get all the nutrients that your body needs out of the small amount of food you can eat when you have had your fill.
They will also talk about bowel habits and why water is so important etc.

Kascol,

Dieticians just tell you what you already know about food. You will continue to lose - just keep sticking to the rules. It's hard at first coz our bodies are going through so many changes. I think it takes a while for us to adjust until the losing every week becomes routine. Hang in there!

Hi Kasey,
I have been on solids for 2 weeks now and still losing weight. I am eating anything I want but to keep up the weight lose I am basicly on a diet! I use calorie king website to count my calories everyday and I exercise 5-6 days a week! I guess once the restriction kicks in I wont have to be so careful but I want to lose weight now.

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
Kasey do you still see your dietician? Mine does all the stages with you eg 1st visit optifast stage, 2nd liquid for after op, 3rd mushie going onto solids, 4th lapband diet, 5th followup.

So as of friday I go from mushies to solids. I am to start on small cubed veggies and maybe a fish fillet, still keeping to around the 1/2 cup amount. I can add in cruskits and progress to toast or cereal for breakfast, pita bread with topings, toaqsted sandwich starting with 1/4 building up to 1/2 then 1 over a few weeks. Pasta dishes building up to 1 cup etc.

On the next apt he will tell me how many serves from each catogory to have and has given me sample menus which include fruit in each meal as well.

So you get the best for you, contact your dietician and get his advise :)

Re:May 09 Bandits! Reply to this message
can anyone tell me what I should be eating now I am on solids.. Should I be calorie counting as well... or can I continue to eat what i was before surgery.. but obviously it would be alot smaller amounts.. just curious..
is it ok to eat

Breakfast
1 weetbix with milk
snack - tuna on cruskits (2)
Lunch - tuna on Cruskits (2)
snack - fruit
dinner - chicken stir fry with lots of veges..

i think I am doing the right thing but my weight loss has stopped..
I cant also drink 2 litres of water.. around 700ml per day. I wish I could skull the water..but the rules says sip... my body will let me skull.. is this OK..

Sorry for all the stupid questions.
Kasey
