Thanks Roserosy62,

I am so looking forward to it. Four more sleeps to go ... yippeeee.

I will certainly let you know how I go. I am taking 2 weeks off work so hopefully that should be enough time.

It was also good to get the "half a carrot" scenario because it didn't make me feel so bad as I have tried and tried so hard to lose weight and not eat junk but nothing. I just kept putting on the weight.

Take care and good luck with your doctor's appointment.

:-)

Hi Roserosy62,

I was told that I was a bordering Type 2 Diabetic and that this was the best option for me too. I am due to go in this Saturday for banding. I have a very strong family history of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes so I want to prevent it before it happens.

As my doctor told me "I would put on weight eating half a carrot" so this is a fantastic option for me to control it.

Good luck with your decision.

Cheers
Blue

Re:Insulin resistance Reply to this message
Rose,

Most people with insulin resistance or even type 2 diabetes find that their condition improves greatly after lap banding.

There are a few people on here who still have insulin resistance and yes our weight loss may be slower but it still happens.

I wish you well with your decision.

Re:Insulin resistance Reply to this message
Rose I am one step up from insulin resistance and that is type 2 diabetes...yes it is successful... lift your protein lower your carbs and it will work perfectly.

Lap banding and sleeving is a wonderful tool for insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes... which is what you develope if your insulin resistance isnt in check.

Has your doctor discussed the benefits of Metformin with you to stop the flooding of insulin into your systme. It will help with the weight loss.

Insulin resistance Reply to this message
Hi,

Im wondering if there is anyone out there who has/had insulin resistance and has had lap band surgery? I have insulin resistence which makes it even harder to lose weight and I am now considering lap banding as a last resort. As insulin resistance makes weight loss extra hard, i am wondering if lap banding if efficent in losing weight? I have had no success in losing much weight no matter how little i eat (without being starving hungry) and how much i excercise... Very frustated lately. Im not sure I want to spend $17000 if it doesnt work or have some improvements in my uncontrolled weight gain! I do know you must eat heathy and exercise still, but any help/info would be great.
