Hey Fay
Its good to hear from you.. Im going well. Been back at work for the whole week and seem to be going good at the moment. I saw lana on wednesday night and she said i can start mushies on sunday.. YAH.. cant wait but im a little scared. but as long as i take it slow it will all be good. I ended up taking the bandages off on the friday night cause i had a reaction to them as well as the strips. not good. Still have a little stab in the spots where the keyholes are every now and then but otherwise they are healing up really well. thank god. the first couple of days i was like WHAT THE HELL have i gone and done getting this done. but at the end of the week and even now im feeling good and positive about it. My husband can also see the weight droppping off me and i can with some of my clothes. Its really exciting.
It would be lovely to catch up with you when you come down to busso next. just let me know and we can go for a coffee or something.
xx monx |

Another recipe to add to the collection:
Easy Split Pea & Ham Soup
Serves 6 / Freezable
250g dried green split peas
6 cups water
4 chicken stock cubes
250g lean ham off the bone, chopped
1 onion, chopped
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
1/3 cup fresh parsley (italian), chopped
Place all ingredients into a large pan and bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low and summer, stirring occasionally, for 1 to 1.5 hours or until peas are soft and pulpy.
As I'm Day 5 post-op, I added an extra cup or two of water, pureed the soup once cooked then ran it through the strainer to make sure no lumpy bits got through. It's still a bit thick so I'll thin it down with a little more water when I re-heat it. So nice to have something with a bit of taste!!
Tonight we're having the potato, bacon and leek soup. Yum! |

Hi Carol,
The shoulder tip pain is from the gas the doctors put in to your abdominal cavity to blow your abdominal area up so they have room to put and move their instruments around.
Because the shoulders are they highest point of that area the gas try's to escape through your shoulders. Not everyone gets this pain and other get it quite bad. I for one suffered with it really bad. I find if you get up and move around you will expelle the gas quicker than if you sit around doing nothing. Hot showers also helped. My GP told me to pop a pillow under my bottom area and raise my pelvic area higher than my shoulders and legs that way the gas goes the other way. When I did that in hosipital I got told off from the nursing staff. I was lucky enough to have an adjustable bed and just made shaw my head and shoulders and feet were as low as I could get them. I just waited for the nursing staff to leave and put the pillow back. One nurse I had had suffered from should tip pain and she rubbed my shoulder to help with the pain. You will find it all depends on your body. But don't worry about it. wait and see if it happens first. You will be fine and the nurse should give you some pain killers for the pain. I found that the shoulder tip pain was by far worse that the operation itself.
Good luck you will be fine.
Regards Em |

HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII Fay
Remember me... We were recovering together last monday.. I was going to come see you before i went home but the nurses nearly forgot to take out my drip so had to bugger around for that. how are you feeling? i went back to work on Monday so its been a really full week for me.
Dont stress too much. I was thinking god what if this doesnt work but i kept on telling myself its all worth it and think of how great im gonna look at the end... We can all wear our TRIANGLE BIKINIS to the beach... he he he gotta get a laugh out of you some how... Ive only had a few time of the pain in my shoulders but mainly in my neck.. been using the heat packs and trying to chill and relax.
Email me if you want on monnie81@hotmail.com

Hi Fay,
Sounds like you need liquid dissolvable multivitamins!
Supraden doesn't taste very good but has more vitamins in it but for energy, Hairy Lemon is the key, it has guarana and ginko bilobaas well as your vitamin B's, I finf one for m/tea and one for a/tea does the trick.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Zoe |

Hi fazeewazee!
Not hungry is normal - don't forget your stomach is all swollen from the surgery so you think you're full! I was worried about it at the time too, but my appetite came back after 3 or 4 weeks. Enjoy the fast weight loss period!! |

Hi fazaawazee , yes it is quite normal to feel tired for a week or 2. Keep up the fluids and try and get some nutrition down as you are going through a healing phase.
Pureed soups were what i mostly lived on.

| hi julia, you could try an egg flip, 1 egg, 250mls warm or cold milk, 4 drops vanilla, nutmeg. beat egg, milk and vanilla with an electric blender. Pour into a glass and sprinkle with nutmeg. my surgery is this friday 27th. cheers lou x |

Hi Julia , i made up soup and if i was hungry i zapped half a cup and ate it. I also had some jarrah hot chocs (68 calories) and had one s a treat . Try and get some fibre into your soup as i think that kept me fuller longer.
I made a really yummy lentil soup , i didn't use a recipe but this is about what i had in it.
1 onion
2 rashers bacon
2 stalks celery
1 huge carrot or 2 normal
1 can diced tomatoes
about 2/3 cup red lentils
/12 tsp cummin powder
salt n pepper
chicken stock
I sauted onion and bacon, then added diced celery and carrot and cummin powder.Throw in the tomatoes, lentils and enough chicken to make it soupy (i used about 2 cups i think), season with salt n pepper and simmer for 20 to 30 mins. Blend smooth and add more stock to thin if needed.
I just basically chucked what i had in and it worked really well.
I also used the potato , bacon and leek soup that was posted on this forum. |
