Blossum,

don't beat yourself up about it, u r only human. I mean this is not the way people r supposed to live and we will all make mistakes. I have already slipped up. I sucked (for a very long time) on a piece of chocolate. I haven't felt any side effects from it & I figured I have been good so why not. So don't panic about it & pat yourself on the back for all the good work u have done.

Blossum!

I am sure you did no damage! Just don't make a habit of it ! lol... everyone's Dr's have different opinions on what is right and what is wrong and how long u should wait to make transition to mushies etc...

You'll be fine...!!!

Well I just feel terrible - I was so desperate for food that I had some creamed cottage cheese - I chewed it very well and on had about 1/4 cup or less

Do you think I did any damage? I don't think I was providing myself enough variety with the liquids - needless to say I am going to be an angel until my appointment with the dietician on tuesday before commencing mushies

I really don't know what got into me - I think I am having post-op blues

make sure your soups are thin enough to go up thru the straw, i made that mistake and learned the hard way

L,

You are going to struggle trying to get all your fluids down for the first few weeks. All I can suggest is just keep sipping on things all day. The swelling will go down soon enough and you will find then that you will feel like you are drinking too much.

Hiya Lovelies...

I am super-struggling to get enough liquids down at the moment - I feel so bloated, full and uncomfortable.

The nutritionist told me how important it was to try and have lunch and dinner as my 2 main meals and make sure I try and puree some meat for protein into soup... but it's sooooo tough!!!

I made up a soup with chicken breast, potato, onion and garlic and whizzed it smooth - I reckon I got about 1/4 of a cup down in 1/2 an hour... please tell me this is normal??

Any suggestions for getting rid of the wind? I managed to pass wind for the first time since banding on Wed. Not able to burp though. I've tried degas tablets, not working either.

Re:liquid phase- post op (the straw diet ... Reply to this message
I received instructions from the clinic about what I am meant to drink - I did much better today I think I got 2L in (I followed the schedule set by my doctor)

I may try an opti again tomorrow but I find skim milk much easier to get down even after I have watered it down (and it says that if I cannot tolerate the opti to have a litre of skim milk per day and a liquid multivitamin like supradyn which I did)

I see the dietician prior to going on mushies.

Re:liquid phase- post op (the straw diet ... Reply to this message
You should try to continue on with the opti as you need all those vitamins and protien don't worry if you can't drink 3 a day it took me close to a week to get past 2 but i diluted them with about 400ml of water so they were easy to drink then just sip it there is no hurry to drink it.
I have just moved onto mushie stage this weekend.

Can I ask a silly question? What is the difference between the post op stage & the mushies stage?

Hi - I had my surgery done on the 26th too, just wondering if you are able to have all the liquids you are meant to

I haven't been able to get anywhere close and I have given up on the opti and switched to skim milk as I just can't get any down. It is like I swallowed cement and there is not room for anything is in my belly LOL

Let me know if this is normal

Re:liquid phase- post op (the straw diet ... Reply to this message
Hello all,
This is my first message on the forum. I had my band done on Thursday 26th March. Things appear to be going fine. I am tolerating fluids well with no nausea the only problem is that I sometimes get like an indigestion pain a little while after drinking it does not stay long and sometimes I get the pain in the middle of the night I am wondering if is my body telling me its time to feed. The incision sites get quite sore and make moving a bit difficult but I soldier on. Can anyone tell me if what I am experiencing is the "norm" is the discomfort I am feeling the liquid trying to make its way past the band any answers for a newbie would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance
