Nic & Mel,

I posted the recipe for Hommous on the recipes thread this morning.

Hope that you enjoy it. I only eat it this way as I find the commercial brands too inconsistant in taste.

Cheers

Terry

And don't forget to take your own pillow, earplugs, your fave perfume and some mags. Stay on those meds and ask for heat packs if you feel you need them, they are FAB to lay on and the heat soaks in and really helps.

Re:NIC S LAP BAND JOURNEY Reply to this message
Yup, i think that pretty much goes for all of us Leanne,we all KNOW what to do but doing it isn't a human beings strong point. :)It's just a human weekness that we all carry in one way or another.

Nicole do pop in if you feel the need tomorrow night for a final pep talk before the big day.

Thanks Nic and thanks Leanne. I just needed a bit of reassurance I think. I dont really think I'd call it off, but I am very nervous. And yes, Nic I have had 4 children so I should be braver shouldn't I????? My baby is 5 months old now and I am doing this for him and my girls. I do want to be around when they have their babies. I will let you know when I'm on the other side!!!

Thanks again :)

Re:NIC S LAP BAND JOURNEY Reply to this message
Ah yes! Catherine Zeta Jones!! :) Totally normal Nicole! I look at it this way, you've had 4 children (?) if i remember correctly, this will be a piece of cake! The anesthetic is very, very safe these days so you'll be completely fine, you'll be back with the family the next day (take advantage of that one night of rest! :) and if you are able to have someone to mollycoddle you or help take care of the kids then you will get better quicker. What you are feeling is completely normal, everything will be ok....it will be better than OK, it's going to be FABULOUS!!!! :) Start looking at clothes 1 size down girl!
I was fine until the night before and i wrote my family (if i should croak letter:) I've lost nearly 30kg and i bet your looking forward to knowing how that feels?! And you will! All i can say is just keep thinking of all those weddings and all those grandbabies you will now most likely see when you might not have if you didn't get this done. God knows your babies need you, let Him give you the peace you need. If you don't pray, have a go and ask for Peace, you'll be amazed what happens. :)
Will be thinking of you, you'll be fine!!!!!!! You'll be better than fine, you'll be great! A wonderful new life ahead with one heck of a learning curve!
Let us know when you're done and on the bright/light side?!
Go to to a lingerie shop, buy a dreadfully sexy pair of itty bitty knickers and clutch them in your sweaty hand on the way into the hospital, THAT made me feel better too! :)
Hugs
Nic

Re:NIC S LAP BAND JOURNEY Reply to this message
Hi Nic

Did you by any chance see O prah today? She and her trainer were giving out tips on how to increase weight loss by increasing the height on the hill/slope on the treadmill and how to tell what's right for you.

I have it recorded so I'm going to write it out word for word, she only took a minute to talk about it but I have a terrible memory which is why I recorded it. If you're interested I'll post it on here.

Re:NIC S LAP BAND JOURNEY Reply to this message
Hi Nicole

I know you addressed your question to Nic but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents worth.

What you are saying sounds perfectly normal, it's just pre-surgery nerves. I went through everything you are saying except from being scared that I'd call it off. There is no way I was going to do that and to continue to live the miserable life of a fat person. Although I was very nervous I was looking forward to the start of my new life on the lighter side. I've heard heaps of people say the same things you are saying, it's all normal, just try and focus on the new slimmer you.

All the best.

Re:NIC S LAP BAND JOURNEY Reply to this message
Hi Nic,
We met at the Bris get together, and I read your posts all the time. I need your help. I have two days to banding and I am so scared! I am scared of the operation, I am scared of going under general, I am scared of life after banding and most of all, I am scared that I will call it all off!
Can you give me some advise on how to get through the next couple of days? Your advise to everyone else here seems so good!
I know I am just being a sook but I cant help it, and the closer it gets, the more paniky I feel! Do you know if this is normal? Nicole

Re:NIC S LAP BAND JOURNEY Reply to this message
I would love the recipe if that is all right. I bought a container the other week that was flavoured with orange and pommegranite. It was delicious. I also have seen one that is flavoured with caramelised onion. That would also be nice.

Thanks Terry,

Re:NIC S LAP BAND JOURNEY Reply to this message
Nic,

I make my own hommous and it is very easy to make as long as you have a stab blender.

It is always better than the bought stuff and you can play with it to get the flavours that you like right.

If you want I can post the recipe?

Cheers

Terry

Re:NIC S LAP BAND JOURNEY Reply to this message
I used to share a house with a vegetarian many years ago and picked up quite a few tips then but have only really started using them since I have less and less tolerance of meat so feel the need to increase my protein intake and although I love fish I dont want it every night.
