Moochy, yup I am very ready to go. Right at this moment I am munching on my very last berry crunch opti bar. It's quite delicious actually. I wonder what they will give me for dinner at the hospital? Probably MORE bloody optifast :) Ahhhh Well
SOPHIE, TOBY, JULIA. Are you guys ready for the plunge? Today is the last day of this existance, tomorrow is the first day of our new life. Pedal to metal, thinkin' Thelma and Louise... let's blow this old fat world and smash on through to the thin man's realm!!!
This has been a party political announcement from the leftist society of thinisms. |

| Yes you should wear the stockings post op. There is a lot of research to show that a significant number of people die with in 6 months of a lengthy operation ie more than 30 mins. Trouble is that if a person dies months after the op people don't neccessarily link the two. |

| At Baulkham Hills I had to wear my stockings in surgery and they also put these massage things on my legs from the knee down to keep the circulation going during the operation. Apparently they do this for any operation that is going to take more than 40minutes. I still had the DVT injection afterwards and my doctor told me that I have to wear the stockings for 7 days post op. It was a good hospital they seemed to be very thorough |

| Moochy, I have 3 dogs and a cat. They may revolt! My cat always wants the fat you slice off the chicken breast and my dogs seem to have a thing for toast crusts. I hadn't thought about them until you brought it up. Perhaps I will butter them up with those liver treats. |

Garry, I think one slip-up won't have hurt the Opti (I'm the slip-up queen and I still got my band). Can't suggest anything else to take, maybe a gun license to let them know you are permitted to shoot them if they don't hand over the pre-op.
Fluffy... I didn't wear the stockings at all in hospital as they gave me two injections in the stomach to counteract the need for them. It may sound awful but I honestly didn't feel much. Besides, you don't tend to be that immobile for all that long. I was up and about within a few hours.

| Yes I'd like to know about the stockings, too. I was thinking of putting on my anti DVT tights I wear on international flights. When I lay around too much my ankles swell. |

Still do not feel hungry which I find amazing, oh well just go with the flow hopefully this will last for the next 4 weeks until I get my 1st fill. I can't believe that everyday if am feeling so much better, I was sure I would be suffering for at least a week. |

| Hey Dr Jane.. No, not packed yet. Just taken the dog for a walk trying to work off the evils of last night, though I must say, I didn't quite resort to cheesecake. Optifarce finally go the better of me, tho seeing as I was a zealot for 6 weeks, I don't think it will do MUCH harm. I think all I really need is my PJs (manly MrMen prints), my pegs brush and paste, a book, deodorant, glitter (of course) and a very small handgun (in case they are not forthcoming with the preops.) Anything I have missed?? |

All this talk of scales & weight loss is ssooooo right. I know I drank quite a bit last night and FANCY!! I had put on 300g today. Of course, it might have something to do with WHAT I drank and how much j*panese food I ate with it, but nontheless, what everyone is saying so true. I do measure myself every day because I am addicted to statistics, but I only ever take note of the weekly weight. All that time I was very strict with optifarceand walking at least 1.5 hours a day, and there were days I actually put on weight doing that, according to the scales. It's all garbage. Think long term, if you obey the rules, you WILL lose weight.. biophysics demands it.
Cheers

Kaz... a healthy weightloss range is 1/2 to 1 kg per week from now on.
Just remember the faster you lose it the more wrinkly you will be, kinda like one of those puppies with all the skin rolls. LOL

Thanks girls, i know i shouldnt stand on them but was finding it amazing how quickly it was coming off.
I did drink alot more water yesterday than i have since having the op 9 days ago, so maybe its just that. It just sux that it seems to have ground to a halt and am now gaining.
I will try and hold off standing on the dreaded thins for at least another 3 days (that will be a big challenge, lol). |

| I am also waking very early in the morning. Very unlike me I usually like to sleep until lunchtime on Sundays. I have also been waking quite hungry at 2 - 4 in the morning on the opti. Has this happened to anyone else?? |

Hi Kaz
You have done amazingly well so far, so don't let a little fluctuation get you down. I haven't been banded yet, but i know from previous weight loss attempts that so many things can affect your weight temporarily - hormones, weather or even getting a bit of excercise (muscle weighs more than fat) can all affect you.
It must be so exciting in the early days when you are losing so quickly that the temptation to jump on the scales each day is pretty high, but I have always been told you shouldn't weigh yourself more than once a week - that way you will get a better overall view of what your body is doing.
Your clothes are often the best indication of what is happening to you. Even if you haven't lost anything on the scales, you can often find the inches are disappearing and your pants are getting looser anyway! |

Kaz, stop weighing yourself.
This interim period is simply for healing, all the books I've read say that most people don't lose much during this stage, some even gain weight.
Your band isn't supposed to really start working for weight loss until you have had your fills and you have restriction.
The key is to stop weighing, start living in the moment and really change your eating habits from bad choices to healthier options and the reduced portion sizes will kick in when you have had your fills.
How much fluid did you drink yesterday as that plays a fairly big part in what you way the following day. Have you measured yourself, if not then get out the tape. When I was on the ultra-lite diet I lost weight some weeks and not others but the centimetres went down everyweek so I stopped weighing and simply measured (far better result).
Kaz, don't get disheartened, the band is there for life and you are only in week 2 so "baby steps".

Thanks gberesford
I guess I was having a sooky moment - maybe even the whole day! I ended up having a bit of a teary and then felt better! I'm still rather annoyed as I certainly dont feel like having to go out to get these done these letters again but I guess I should be able to do it all on the phone and they can fax it for me to APRA - least I hope I can!
Thanks again
