Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hi P1xie, your not on your own. I am also eating things I shouldn't. I guess old habits die hard and it's the first thing you reach for if your feeling peckish. I now have 9.5ml in a 10 ml band and seem to have very little restriction. I seem to be able to eat anything and find I am getting a little out of control. I am going back for another fill on the 4th Feb but, I am a little worried as I only have 5ml to go to fill the band and what happens then, if I still have no restriction. I don't want to think about it or the consequences. I hope the next fill gives me some restriction to help me get back on track.

Hi Shan and the lovely Novemberites,Shan that is fantastic that you have lost another half kilo - I'm very proud of you. I am going for another fill this Thursday. I am sad to report that I seem to be falling back into all my really bad habits - back to eating the smith's chips, magnums and chocolate. I am so disappointed with myself. Although, I currently have 5.2mls in my band - I'm able to get food down easily. I'm finally back to work and my normal routine next Monday so I am praying I start to settle down. Love, P1xie xo

Hi Shan,

It's funny how each doctor seems to have his own interpretation on how much fill you should or shouldn't have. Since banding on 12th Nov I have had three fills, a total of 5.5 mls. 9.5 mls if you count the 4 mls put in on the day of surgery. My last fill on the 21/01/09 I had (1 ml) and my doctor wants to see me again on the 4/02/09 to do another, not sure how much he will give me then.
My stats are as follows.
Started Optifast 29/10/08 97.3k
DOB 12/11/08
Today's weight 26/01/09 82.2k
Total 15.1k since starting. I love it, wish I started this journey years ago.

Hi Everyone
Hope all is well.
Was back in Melbs on Friday for my second fill, and it was only 1/2ml. I asked the Dr for me and i think i got a lecture about how its a slow process and we dont wanna rush it....you know the story. I knew he wouldnt give me more but thought it worth asking. I lost 1/2 kilo in the last two weeks since my first fill and realise that whilst i didnt put on or stay the same i was kinda disappointed that it was only a 1/2kg. I have been doing shedloads of exercise though and my clothes are getting looser so im hoping that ive put a little muscle on at the same time. They had a little trouble getting my second fill in and were digging around with that needle a little bit which felt really weird but it was ok. Have another appointment in two weeks time and then another in a month after that...BRING IT ON i say!
Hope everyone has a fantastic day in store for them tomorrow for OZ Day celebrations....i cant wait!

Lovew
SHan

I have finally lost another kilo Yeeeeeah!!!!!
I stuck on the same weight for the last 4 weeks after my first fill, initially I could eat very little (for example 1 slice bread with slice ham filled me for 4 hrs ) now my appetite is increasing and I can eat a whole sandwich at lunch time etc. I had stayed the same weight all over xmas and new years (wouldn't be the re introduction of alcohol ;) )
I started a proper fitness routine at the gym this week, and am amazingly loving it, not the same camaraderie as my aqua classes but I can do it whenever I want and at my own pace.
Saw dietician this week, she was happy her goal was for me to have lost 4 kilos since last visit (in Nov) and I have lost 6. Hoping to get more fill in 2 weeks when I see surgeon again to take the edge off this hunger thats started.
Hope everyone is travelling well.

Hi Ali,
I made your famous slice yesterday without the zuccini as my boys don't like that vege. They wolfed it down and wanted more. I used broccoli, chinese corn (small corn pieces) ham, tomatoes, onion, red capsicum.
Thanks so much for the recipe.
Cheers huddydi

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hi guys
Just writing because I'm not feeling positive today.
I had my first fill but I am still craving food. I really enjoyed that period post op where I didn't feel hungry. I didn't go looking for food.
I just feel like snacking now.
But I don't know if I need more fill because I have to make sure I chew very carefully otherwise food seems to get stuck. Why is it snack food goes down so easily but proper food doesn't? Unfair!
I can't live on cruskits and cream cheese!
I go back to doctor next week: 2 weeks after first fill and I don't think i will have lost any weight.
I'm going to Sydney this weekend so I can just see that will be full of bad food choices and too much alcohol.
Plus i have a raging toothache. Maybe that should part of preop check list: have visit with dentist: all this extra chewing has not been good for my bad teeth!
Sorry...had to have a good winge!!!

Had my first fill yesterday. Talk about easy and painless. I was pleasantly surprised :)

He put in 2mls which makes a total of 4mls in now (he put 2mls in during surgery).

I am hoping this kicks the weightloss up since it has slowed down recently.

I'm so glad you and your family enjoyed it. Its definitely a favourite in our house even the hubby likes it and hes not one for quiche kinds of things. I'll have to try it with the smoked salmon version as smoked salmon is one of my favourite foods.

Hi Ali made your *** ins today: madde up the basic mixture: eggs, oil, cheese, flour. Divided mixture into thirds. Added smoked salmon and spring onions to one, ham to another, satay chicken to the last. The kids devoured the ham ones so definitely will be on the lunch box menu in a few weeks.
I had one m$ffin in with a little salad, filled me up perfectly.
thanks again

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hey P1xie
This is a popular recipe in my house its called zucchini slice in the recipe books but I tend to throw in everything leftover in the fridge
basically you start with 6 eggs and 1/2 cup olive oil beat in 1 cup of self raising flour and 1 cup of any grated cheese you like
then i add 3-4 cups of whatever usually about 1 cup of diced bacon or ham (could be salami or proscuitto) and the rest vegetables....small diced zucchini, tomatoes larger diced (even just cut a punnet of cherry tomatoes into halves ) onion (if i'm using onion I usually fry it off in a non stick pan with the bacon) if you only have shallots/spring onions just chop them and throw them in raw. I always put in a teaspoon of crushed garlic and a couple of teaspoons of mixed herbs (I use dried but whatever you have works)
Now just stir it all together throw into a lined baking dish about 30 x 15 cms rectangle and a few centimetres deep. Throw in preheated 180 degree oven for 30-40 mins should be firm. cut into squares and enjoy.
I always make a double batch and also fill a texas muf fin pan for me and regular muf fin pan for the kids lunches.(who would ever think muf fin is a rude word!!!)
It freezes beautifully and can be eaten hot or cold, my kids beg for it in their lunchboxes.

Shan...don't let the A Holes win. You are doing something about your weight. His personality is a lost cause.

I remember coming home in tears one day because of some stupid idiot on the train and a comment he made. But then I jus kept telling myself that I was a better person thean him and his rudeness is his problem...not mine.

Look at everything we have gone...and are going through. These idiots that make these comments wouldn't have the guts, determination, strength and courage to do the same.

WE ARE THE BEST

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
So you guys wouldnt believe what happened to me last night... i was riding home from work, minding my own business and was stopped at a rather busy intersection when the lights go green and its my turn to move. I had to stand up to pedal so i didnt slow the traffic too much and this JE RK yells from his car, and i quote....' your gunna need more than just a bike ride to get rid of an a#!e like that'. I couldnt believe it. This person had no idea that i ride to and from work everyday and go to the gym on the way home for a run. How could anyone say something that hurtful to a complete stranger. Would have suited him better to shut his mouth and mind his own business. I wanted to yell back at him 'at least i can do something about my weight but your always gunna be ugly' but i didnt because well i would have looked stupid. I also wanted to throw my bike at his car but again i didnt want to be stupid so instead i let it eat away at me all night and got really upset over it. God, the whole reason im on the darn bike in the first place is to loose weight and then rude, ignorant people say things like that......no wonder the world is the way it is at the moment

Anyway....hope you all having a great day

Talk soon
SHan

P1xie
an easy recipe my kids like is tortillas or "rollups" as they call them!
Cook some mince in a fry pan. I usually add some tomato sauce or tomato paste (whatevers handy) just enough to make the mince moist. If you have a divided serving platter, arrange all the extras: grated cheese, lettuce, carrot, avocado, chopped tomato (for me & hubbie) what ever you've got.Spoon some mince on some slightly warm torilla let them choose their veges, any extra sauce, rollup, toothpick holds it together for kids. For us bandsters, if you are watching carbs or tortillas are hard to eat, just spoon ingredients onto plate. A bit of sweet chili sauce is nice.
You can make it as complicated as you like or as simple as you feel like. My kids are good with salad veges ( not tomato though)so its an easy way to get them to eat some. And its a meal that is easy for us to eat to. Covers all your food groups and quick to prepare.

Shan - you are my new best friend! Thank you for your reply!
You should explain your situation re - your traveling to your surgeon - hopefully he will give you more fill. My first fill took me up to 4.5mls too.
I just posted the following on the recipes thread - since I need help, I thought I would copy same here - I hope you ladies can help me -
My goal in 2009 is to become 'Suzi Homemaker'. I have always been very org@nised (I'm an Executive Assistant so I suppose it comes with the territory), my house is very clean and there is a spot for everything but I absolutely hate cooking. My son is off to school this year so no more cooked creche meals at lunch time, which means I can no longer get away with giving him a sandwich for dinner! I am trying to get myself all org@nised in the kitchen and want to create a 'monthly meal planner' of easy, healthy recipes. We enjoyed the salmon dish so much I think I will make it a weekly or fortnightly feature. If anyone else has any easy, peasy, healthy meals that I can quickly cook after a full day of work - I would really appreciate it. Love, P1xie xo
PS - I'm attending the April band camp - that is run by Andy Spalding. Is anyone else from this thread going?

Don't know if they are flexible. My doctor said that fills were a bit of guess work but i suppose the water test gives a good indication for a start. Did your doctor do anything similar?
I go back in 2 weeks and may not get a fill if I am losing weight. then he reviews monthly. ring your doctor : is his practice nurse helpful?
Hi annette good luck on your fill on Monday: easy peasy: was in and out in under 15minutes: he doesn't like to waste time.
