Hey Gorgeous Shan, stop being so hard on yourself. You are a female - we have hormones. If you are anything like me - your weight will vary from day to day and is different on every pair of scales. If you are doing all the hard work,IT WILL HAPPEN! Don't lose the faith. You can do this!
My first week back at work. Good to be back and good to be moving again. Have kind of continued with my relaxed attitude towards my diet this week as I am settling back into work, routine and my little one started at his 'big boy school' this week (I think I was more anxious about that, than he was). The thing that I love is that I don't think of food 24/7 anymore. I really did not realise how much energy I was wasting on my obsession with food! I'm off to get my 4th fill on Wednesday - not having any problems with food getting blocked and I can eat quite a bit but I can't say I am actually hungry. Have a great weekend everybody. Shan keep your beautiful chin up!!! Love, P1xie xo |

OH MY GOD people....i had my third fill today and put on a KG!!!! I was HORRIFIED! Dr Hensman was trying to tell me that it was muscle due to all of the exercise i have been doing but the scales are not supposed to go up when you have a band. Im devistated! He put in 1 ml so i h=now have 3mls in a 10ml band, god i hope this gives me some sort of restriction! It was certainly a kick in the backside for having a couple of bad meals too, wont be doing that again!!!
Hope everyone is having a good day

Beck there is a thread somewhere about this... I have suffered from it as well. Often after eating too much or drinking too much... awful. Not sure what you can do about it. Drives me spare from time to time.
I will look for the thread if I can remember its name.

| I was banded 19/9 last year, and also get the stitch pain, not really a pain, more a niggle. I get it when really hungry, and sometimes first thing in the morning during exercise if my body is in need of some food, I dont have to neccesarily feel hungry, but the stitch pain is a sign of hunger. |

| Thanks Debra I hate to think I am the only one. I keep getting a stich like pain just below my left rib mainly after excercise my doctor also told me it is muscles still repairing. But I am with you, I have really settled into banding life. I have lost 14kgs since banding 24th NOv and still going strong. Good luck with it all. Grace |

Hi Shan,
I am sorry your feeling a bit down. I think we all have our days where we really go off the rails. I know I do but we have to get back on track. You know how good you feel when you have eaten the right thing and done a little exercise. I also have had my days where I have pigged out on all the wrong things then feeling so down because I have. Today is a new day. Put the bad days behind you and start again.
We will have our good days and our bad, for a long time to come, I am sure. This is a journey we all can learn from. It can change our lives forever. Stay positive, you can do it.

Grace, yeah I still get some pinching/pulling feelings in my tummy. It is affecting me in the bedroom!! I'm not game to try crunches and sit ups. Even sometimes sitting for long periods I fell pressure on my band. And one of my scars is still itchy. When I mentioned it to my surgeon 3 weeks ago he said it is just the muscles still healing. I'm worried that it will never go away!
Sometimes I feel like my underwire bra causes too much pressure!!!
But I'm liking this not eating! I never realised how much time I spent thinking about food!!

Hi Everyone

I am terribly disappointed really, this week alone i have had KFC and Cold Rock ( and i never eat ice cream) i have only been to the gym once this week, normally go everyday as well as ride to work! Aunt Flo came to visit but that usually doesnt do this to me. HELP ME....somebody yell at me to get my butt back into gear. Have another fill this week and am petrified that i will put on weight, id hate that!!!
Feeling down and not so sure why!!

| Hi guys, hope everyone is settling back in the new school year. I have a question for anyone who has started some excercise since banding in Nov 08. I have joined a ladies gym and had a real good work out today. Doing lots of weights and crunches. After I had finished my band was really hurting. Because I went to gym early this morning I had not eaten in case it made me feel sick. I normally only have a opti shake for brekky. I was a bit concerned that my band had moved it was that sore. However as the day moved on the pain eased but I have been uncomfortable all day. Just wandering if anyone else has experienced a simalar thing. I have an appointment with my Dr tomorrow so I will mention it. I have noticed tonight that my port seems to be higher than normal. Is that normal?? Who knows! Anyway, other than the pain I am really enjoying the gym and highly recommend it. I was lucky to find this ladies gym close to my home. The instructor was a personal trainer and now caters for women over 40 at her home gym. Her costs are very reasonable and it is pay as you go. So keep an eye out for anyone in your area doing something similar. Take Care Grace |

Hey P1xie
they say that 90% of things that people worry about never eventuate anyway and in your case this was the truth. Half a KG is nothing and before you know that +1/2 will be a - 1.
Hope all went well with school today and good luck on Monday!!!! Routine is the best deterant for eating for the sake of it

Fee - thank you for your kind wishes re school tomorrow for my little one - our house is full of excitement tonight (even in all this heat)!!!
Also, a big thank you to Shan and Deb for your inspiring words and congratulations on your weight loss. I had another fill today of .06mls, which I think takes me up to 5.8 mls. The great news for me was that I had only put on .05 of a kilo since my last visit on 05 January. Being in my relaxed, holiday mode, I really had felt like I was stuffing my face, drinking way too much scotch and puting on the kilos again so half a kilo was a huge relief. The other thing I learnt today is - the burning pain that I have been experiencing is not a problem with my band (huge relief) but it is the mesh that they placed in my stomach (to hold my tummy together and help my midriff to sit flatter after having my stomach muscles cut into). Apparently, if I eat too much the mesh can stretch the skin, causing a burning feeling or sometimes when I sit for too long the mesh can pinch a nerve. Hopefully, all that will settle in time. So now I am really looking forward to Monday - back to work and back to the real world - time to get serious about this weight loss journey. Deb - I know what you mean about being confused about what to eat. My surgeon also told me not to eat breakfast if I was not hungry. I just can't seem to get my head around that because it has always been drummed in that breakkie was so important! However, with my new school routine there will be no time for breakfast as I plan to walk to school. Hopefully, I will be so busy I won't be thinking of breakfast!! Girls I know we can do this - remember they do say the whole lap band thing is a 'slow process'. We will get there and when we reach our goals you ladies are welcome to come to the girlie weekend that 'Banded Beck' and I have planned in Mel- where we are going to shop, shop, shop and have some seriously fun girl time! Have a great weekend everyone! Love, P1xie ... |

I know excatly how you feel. I'm the same. On Tuesday i went back to Dr, 2 weeks after first fill. I knew i didn't need or want more fill but I had a few issues. I find in the morning i struggle to eat porridge and even scrambled eggs unless i mash it with a fork. So I would have a protein shake instead. But by the afternoon I'm ravenous and can't help scoffing down lots of snacks. But when i try eat normal food I have to chew really well or I have problems.
I talked to my surgeon's assistant doctor. he basically said : don't have breakfast. I was concerned about not eating first up: something that is always drilled into you. he said that is for dieters, not for lapbanders. He said I was having extra calories that i didn't need.
So that made me reevaluate what i was eating: i was so fixated on making sure i had 3 meals a day.
For the last 2 days, when I get up I usually have my Accomin m/vitamin, maybe a cup of tea or warm milk. Drink a bottle of water in the car on the way to drop off kids and to work. Today went out for coffee with friends and had a latte and didn't feel like eating until 2pm. Now I'm going to make a cssserole for tea..
But I have to make sure there is no junk in the house because late at night is when I'm graze. But I am stopping myself and asking "Am I really hungry? Or do I want to lose weight?"
So this morning I have lost the half a kilo I put on over the last 2 weeks.
It's hard. But with determination we can get there. |

| Hi P1xie try not to be too hard on yourself. I too had a few weeks were it all felt too hard and I thought it wasn't going to work for me. when you get a few fills I'm sure you will feel differently and find it easier to control what your eating. I just had my 3rd fill today and in the last two weeks I had lost another 2kg's since the last fill. It's much easier to be motivated with what you eat and exercising when the scales are going down, before those fills though I was really struggling. Good luck with your son starting school what a big day Thinking of you and sending positive vibes |

Hey P1xie,
you poor bugger, the addiction can be so hard cant it. To be honest i havent started it yet but i was given a very simple diet plan by my dietician that i am following and i lost 1/2kg in two weeks, still had a little treat every now and again but its gettingless and less often that i think about them. I finally got al ittle restriction (i thik) and its certainly made things very bearable.
Try to remember why you did it mate and remember to be strong.....dont wait for the ruitine, make it work for you!!! Good luck mate, hear if you need a sounding board

Hi Shan,
Too bl@@dy hot!!! I cannot handle the heat! Shan I'm sad to say but 'I have actually starting to put on weight again!!!' I was wondering if you were following Julie's advice? In some ways I think I started to go off track after thinking I could eat one choccie bar a day. Up to that point I hadn't been eating sweets but then I started on one violet crumble a day. Then I got the taste!!! And now I am finding it very difficult to stop! I've got another fill tomorrow morning and then it is back to the real world for me on Friday (my little one starts at a school for the first time) and I am finally back to work on Monday. Pray, pray, pray I get my act together!
I hope you don't suffer too much in this heat! Don't forget to drink your water! Love, P1xie xo |

Hey guys,
i was going through the same thing just after xmas but then i just reminded myself of why i was doing this and what i want to achieve from this and it seemed to get me on track again. I found it helpful to write a contract to myself and have my signature witnesses infront of someone whose opinion meant alot to me and then i stuck that contract onthe fridge....
Chin up guys......at least we are not putting on hey!!!
Love
Shan
PS....how hot is it....!!!!???? |

| Perhaps its just a stage, I am going through exactly the same thing. Cant seem to stop myself eating rubbish..Have only lost 9kg so far, and 7kg of that was pre-band...So I have lost 2 kg in 8 weeks...well, Ive lost about 35 kg, but its all the same 2 kg going up down up down up down...etc.. |

| Hi San and fellow Novemberites, I'm sorry I was on such a downer this morning. I'm desperately trying to get my act together. 40 degrees expected today in Melbourne so I have decided to stay indoors and read inspirational blogs to try and motivate me into getting my act together. Reading the blogs has helped me because what I am experiencing seems to be a bit typical - one blog that I find hugely inspirational is - www.gabriellesbandjourney .piczo.com Gab and Julie (Scr@p pyhannah) are my heroes! I'm a little bit concerned San because I think I have an 7.5 to 8ml band. I currently have 5.2mls and will get a top up this Thursday. I feel like I have to do this - I didn't go through being opened up completely, 38 staples and a couple of months recovery, for nothing. I have to do this. I just have to remind myself why I am doing this - I want to be around to see my beautiful son grow up. I'm sorry to ramble. Love and best wishes to you San and all the fellow Novemberites - P1xie xxx |
