Thank you for your replies, I am seeing the Doctor next week and see what is going on.
Could you please tell me what Pb stands for?
I also have a choking sensation with my first bite, wasn't sure what that was, is it worse when you have the next fill? |

Wishinbg you all the luck in the world mate!!!
I had my fill on monday, i felt like i had some restriction until today, i have been hungry all day! Now have another month before i can go back, when did you start to feel any restriction?
Question to Everyone out there: Hair Loss, is anyone else suffering from it? I believe its quite common to get it after a band. Im taking swisse multi vit and fish oil tabs but there seems to be a bit coming out. I know that there is a thread on here but when i went in to have a look it was more a b1tch fest on someone in there that an information forum so if anyone has any ideas, thoughts, help id be very interested
Cheers

Hi Shan
I now have 6.0ml in my band altogether.
I was actually going really well before Tuesday. i was losing weight steadily but i had found that my hunger had just started to increase ever so subtley. After my first fill I couldn't eat breakfast. Even runny porridge was giving me trouble. But in the last week i found i could eat a small hot cross bun for breakfast!!!. So I spent the weekend before my fill eating bread (toasted hot bread shop bread!!) Thought i'd enjoy it while I could!
At first my doctor said "You don't need a fill you're losing well" (4kg in 4 weeks). but when I explained about eating bread , he said " You need some more fill".
I was quite enjoying eating everything before my fill but I knew if I let it go for another 4 weeks until my next appointment I'd be ravenous. I feel like I'm starting over. Last time I found i had to have mushies for about a week rather than just one day after my fill.
I might change my next review for 6 weeks that seems to be how long until the effect of my fill takes to wear off a bit.
P1xie, does your doctor not have dietician that he works with? I didn't think we needed WW with a band? |

| Hey Shan, If you don't know what MPO stands for - we must not be with the same mob! 1.5 mls that is some top up. I'm really worried because I'm at 6.2 mls and I think I only have a 7 - 7.5 ml band. My next visit to the surgeon's office is on the 12th of March. Tomorrow night I am joining Weight Watchers for the 120th time - thinking it might help to keep on the straight and narrow. Although, I'm already in such a better head space. I think I have been letting my little one watch way too much TV because he has turned into my little trainer - I get a special big hug and kiss each night, once I complete my half hour on the treaddy and he keeps telling me that I have to keep working until I have a flat stomach like his!!! I'm on a mission to lose the next 10 kilos in 12 weeks - wish me luck! Love, P1xie xo |

I had another 0.5ml fill today. i have been steadily losing weight but i was starting to feel hungry again. So I wanted a littel but not much.
I was a bit annoyed because my doctor is training a new doctor who couldn't get the needle into my port properly, even though it is so easy to find. Now i have such a sore spot where i was jabbed so many times. JOY!! |

Hi everyone
So i had another fill today and i found out that i lost 1/2 KG, not much but a loss none the less!!!! And Richard gave anohter fill of 1.5ml ( i was wrapped!), taking me to a total of 4.5 in a 10ml band. Surely to god i will get some restriction out of that!
P1xie, im not really sure what an MPO stands for but if your happy to either give me your email address or name i will forward onto you. It more than likely is the same, its a rahter large org an is ation if that helps!!! Glad to hear that your back on the motivational track, YOU GO MATE!!! Run your little heart out and good on you for comfronting yourself with the mirror thing, thats still something i really struggle with.
Well im beat guys, just home from Melbourne a short time ago and am soooooo ready for bed.
Night everyone

Hi everyone,
Thanks to everyone for your kind words. The memorial service is tomorrow (the bodies will not be released for another 6-8 weeks).
On a brighter note - I got myself a treadmill today and I've placed a full length mirror in front of it. I don't know if you girls do this - but I have always totally avoided full length mirrors! I'm turning my study into my 'motivational den'. Thankfully, it is upstairs so I can place pictures on my vision board and I have my 'dream outfit' hanging up to try and motivate myself. I think I have been watching too much Oprah and Biggest loser! Has everyone else been watching Biggest Loser? I always find it so inspiring. Has anyone joined the Biggest Loser club? I'm wondering if it is worthwhile??? Tomorrow I'm going to jump on the scales and see how much weight I have put on. Then fresh start. I'm seriously concerned about the amount I can eat - I'm beginning to wonder if there is a problem with my band. Have a great week everyone. Love, P1xie xo
PS - Shan you mentioned you have flex time, do you work in Albury I'm in MPO (I'm wondering if we work for the same org@nisation?) |

Hey Debra,
well today i took your advice (before i even read it) i went out for coffee with a friend and had a 'mini' new york cheesecake, it was small, delectable and loaded with calries im sure but i enjoyed every bite. So that should take care of the calorie loading............lol. Hopefully my body will stop storing after 28 years..............lol.
Glad to hear your on the right track.
Keep us posted with your move

P1xie,
Im terribly sorry for the los of your friends. I realise nothing we say at this sad time will help you but know that we are a good sounding board for emotions as you well know. The eating thing is totally understandable at this point but remember you dont want to be relying on that, its making you feel worse, not better! I cant imagine what happening in your head and know that if the rol was rversed i would probably do the same thing, just remember to be kind to yourself during the grieving process!!! My thoughts are with you mate, let me know if there is ANYTHING i can do to help!!!
I will certainly be letting you know when im there in school holidays, would love to put a face to the name!! I hopeing that my appointments can spread out a little after this one, i have been taking a day off work every two weeks and i just am so thankful taht i have a good job that allows me the flexible time.
Happy thoughts and vibes to you mate
Take care of yourself!!!!!!!!!

Hi Shan
Will look out for Babs. I don't know when it will all happen because there are lots of things to sort out here.
Don't stress about the plateau. I went through that: I was so careful watching what i was eating and still not losing weight. Your body gets used to the lower calories and goes into presevation mode: " i don't know when I'll get more calories so I'd better keep the ones I'm getting". I tried a day of eating bad food: iced coffee with cream for breakfast, 2 mini spring rolls for lunch. I thought maybe the increase calorie content might shake things up abit. i read someone else doing that in some other post. i don't know if it worked but I have started lsoing weight again.
Today I sat down and rewrote out my weight loss chart because I had runout of room on the sheet i had. I realised that i had lost 4 kilos since my last fill 6 weeks ago. So it sort of sneaks up on you! Plus i've lost 11cm from my boobs! So don't stress. I think we can get so caught up with what we're eating, that it becomes a main focus. One thing I am learning is that food is becoming an afterthought..." oh yeah I suppose i should eat something, i actually feel hungry"
P1xie, I'm sorry to hear about your friends. We sat one Sunday with my mother-in-law watching the news on foxtel. A friend of hers lived in Pheasnt creek at king lake. My mother-in-law didn't know if she was ok. Sadly she found out a week later that she didn't make it out. I was heartbroken. How devastating.
enjoy your comfort eating. No I wouldn't freak out! We have all been there some days. Embrace what you need to get through this hard time. When you have kids you can't help but get back into a routine and you'll find you won't have time to eat.
You'll be back losing weight in no time.

| P1ixie so sorry to hear of your loss, so tragic. Don't be too hard on yourself sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment. You will get there, just one small step at a time. I had my fourth fill today and I am very pleased to say I am 20kg down. Feeling so much better even though I still have another 50kg to go. Seems to have made a diference with getting regular fills noticed after the last one that had to really take my time eating and chew, chew, chew. Haven't PB'd yet but have had that oesphageal spasm and don't want to have it again was awful. Happened at work but luckily I was in my office with the door shut. My fault as was rushing my lunch as I was busy at work. Also seem to be experiencing first bite syndrome as my Dr said today where first few bites feel stuck and I get pain and don't think I will be able to eat anymore and then it eventualy relaxes. He suggested having a warm drink about 20 minutes before I eat so I will try that this week. All the best to everyone keep up the hard work |

| Hey ladies, I'm sorry I have been so quiet of late. So, so busy - back to work after 11 weeks off and I must admit I'm struggling to try and get back into a routine. You know the one - full time working mum - I don't quite know how I used to do everything. I'm slowly getting back into it. I've also been quite flat - I lost 3 friends in the fires. In my sadness, I cannot seem to break my old habit of comfort eating. I will not tell you guys what I have eaten today - you would freak out. I definately have no restriction and I have 6.2mls in my band. I'm feeling quite disappointed with myself which just makes me a bit sader. Every day I try to get out of this mindset but every day I resort to eating. Sorry I really didn't want to come across as being on such a downer. I'm usually a very happy, positive person - it is just hard at the moment. Thanks to all that keep posting - Deb, Shan it is so interesting to read your threads as it is as if we seem to go through exactly the same phases at the same time. Deb all the very best with your move. I hope it all works out for you! Shan if you ever have to head to Knox during a school holiday period - let me know and I will head over that way - I think it's a couple of hours away for me. I'm on the other side of town. Take care everyone, love, P1xie xo |

HI everyone
Debra: weight loss not going the best but cm's coming off. I have lsot 10kgs since November when i started optifast, im a little dissapointed that ive not lost anymore but since July last year i have lost 30.5cms off my body. Sounds like a big change to the country for you but it should be good. If you meet a lady named Babs say gday to her for me but dont mention where you know me from (just cos ive not told anyone). Apparetly everyone knows her there as the fundraising lady...she is just gorgeous!!!
Well ei had my measurments taken the other day by my trainer and we compared them to the ones taken in July last year and i got some great news. I have lost 10 ks since November last year and 30.5cms off my body since July last year, the largest part disappearing from my waist.....11cms!!!!!! Im wrapped, even if the scales havent changed in a while i think thats pretty darn good still.
Question: How is everyone coping with the Biggest Loser this year??? I normally want it & get a little teary but this year im a mess..........every episode i cry like a little girl!!! I told this to my dad & he said why do you watch it then, i thought about this for a while and said to him.....i can relate to everything they are saying, & its a good thing because its making me realise some of the issues i have dealt with & issues that i am left to deal with. I think cos i have finally made the committment to see this thing through its really hitting home to me this year...............wither that or im hormonal...........lol
Hope everyone is having a sensational day & is looking forward to the weekend as much as i am. Im in Melbs for another fill on MOnday at 10.15 at Knox. If anyone is there at that time make sure you say hey.
Oh good news, i have a little but if restriction..i went to eat chicken the other day & it got stuck, it didnt come back up but it was kinda like my oesophagus (?) was spasming or something....is that what happens when it gets stuck? |

I am at 91.2kg which is a total loss of 14.8kg almost half way!!!
Moving is not quite finalised. My husband and i are intersted in buying a business in griffith , NSW. We now live in inner subburbs of brisbane. We are looking for a tree!! change. My husband needs a change of scene and we have found a business that is a goldmine and the current owner is wanting to retire, sort of. he wants to keep working but not ahve theheadache of running the business and he wants to be free to travel for 5 months a year. We though the country lifestyle would be good for the kids too. they spend too much time inside at the moment.
we are still finalising contracts and finances so if that's all ok then we sell our house and business here. And off we go!
It will be a big change. Plus i will have to find a new doctor or else come back to Brisbane for follow ups?
Will keep you posted.
How are you going with your weight loss, Shan.
Jade, it's amazing how just a little more fill can make such a difference. Good to hear the kilos just started alling off again. Congrats on the workouts too. that's my downfall. I don't exercise.

Hey Debra
darn right about the hard part starting now!!! How is your weight loss going, sounds likes its going really well! I need to stop weighing myself everyday, its really starting to get to me when i don see results from one day to the next....as if i would though!....lol!
How did you feel after your comfort food? i have had a few little slip ups with my fave comfort food (Nachos) and feel even worse when i have finished them. But sometimes you just gotta do it dont ya!
All is fairly good with me mate, a little frustrated with no restriction yet, have another appointment booked on Monday so hopefully they will be generous with the liquid.
Wow, moving hey, cant wait for you to fill me with that. When, Where, new beginnings hey....good for you! |

Hi All,
I thought I'd write a bit of an update. I lost only 2kgs in December and nothing in January (my own fault as I spent most of it on a cpl of holidays eating whatever I pleased).
On January 29 after all the fun ended I had my second fill, 2mils bringing me to a total of 6mils in my band. I had instant restriction an spent a couple of days PB'ing and then i decided to only have liquids for a couple of days and it all settled down.
The band is now working fantastically. I can have a really small breakfast, small lunch and a medium sized dinner. I can eat rice and pasta still which is fantastic.
My first week with restriction I have lost 1.8kgs, 700 grams the second week, and 1kg this week, so hopefully this will continue.
I have also joined the gym at the beginning of Feb and seeing a personal trainer once a week and I try and do cardio a cpl more times per week for an hour each time.
I wish you all luck on your quest for restriction, it makes such a huge difference to have the band working with you.

yes we have been quiet. we have passed the excitement of our first phase of weight loss. Now the real hard work starts. I had reached a plateau but it looks like I've kicked off the weight loss again.
I'm certainly not weighing myself as often and have even slacked off with writing down my weight.
I have another visit with doc next week. See if i need more fill.
Maybe a little bit. I still have restriction in the morning and don't eat breakfast. but by the afternoon 4- 5 o'c lock I am really hungry. But I can't eat that much so maybe i don't need anymore fill.
I was in a bad mood yesterday so binged on my favourite milky bars but i didn't get through a whole bag like i used to!! That's some consolation.
Hope you are all ok, Shan and P1xie.
I'm going to be moving in the next few months. Another big life changing event!
will tell you all about it next time |
