Hey Deb and Col

yeah the pasta too. Not sure what the go was there! I seem to be rather tight but can still eat big meals, or what i consider to be nig meals. I would be able to eat a full container of takeaway thai and be full but still eat the whole lot! I must admit though im eating a hell of a lot less than what i was but still not small enough meals. Guess maybe im only at the start of restriction now, maybe one more will be my 'sweet spot"!!!!!! I have started to eat alot slower since the other night. As ive never had an ounce of restriction before ive never really had to slow right down and chew chew chew but now i understand why they drill that into you right from the start.....lol!!!

Hope your all fantastic

Cheers

HI Needtobe....I have just had the same thing as you ...I seemed to have good restriction and then it seemed to tighten and I began to PB...could hardly get anything down including water without PB'ing.I was told to be careful because once you do begin PB'ing it begins to bruise the banded area and it will swell ; not allowing any thing to pass.I only had .25ml put in 2 weeks ago and I went and had .1 ml taken out yesterday and could feel the diff. straight away and now it is great...good restriction but without the spews....hope it helps ....Col

After a fill my doctor says to have one day liquids and one day mushies. I find I usually have about 1 week of mushies.

I haven't tried eating steak since my last fill.
I had thai green curry without any trouble, I even mixed in some rice into the sauce. One takeaway container was enough for 3 meals!!! I froze one protion and then nuked it and it still was tender enough to eat.
But I find fruit is hard even 4 weeks later: nectarines, bananas make me gurgle. I haven't tried salad since then. I have steamed veges or cook them to death (probably no nutrients left by then!
BTW, P1xie, I do work with 2 cuties. Two brothers: one is 30, recently separated form his b!tch of a wife and his younger brother who is 24. They are such thoughtful boys. Unfortunately since I'm almost 42, I do think of them as "boys". (I did have a nutty old lady today say i only looked 25!!! I think she needs her eyes checked!)

Did the pasta come back up too? Some times pasta can just be too doughy/pasty even though it's soft and mushy.

Did you have much fill?
i find it takes me a couple of weeks to settle into my fill. I am always worried for the next few weeks about what will go down. Are you feeling stressed? It has now been four weeks since my last fill and at times i feel I can't eat anything! I know it is stress.
I find I eat a lot of crispy food like crackers because they are tasty and will go down easily.
Take a break from normal foods, go back to mushies if you have had a PB. It's nice to give your tummy and oesophagus a break after.
Corned beef may be too stringy at the moment but try it again a few weeks after your fill and it may be ok.
So what may seem like ok fill at times may feel too tight. As long as you're not having trouble keeping water down, give your self some time.
I tend to live on cruskits with avocado, cream cheese, salmon dip, sliced ham, baked beans (slightly mashed if I'm feeling tight)for lunch.

well everyone

disgusting i realise but tonight i had my first regurgitation and IT HURT LIKE HELL!!! Corned Beef is totally off the list for me from now on. I have just made some pasta (being soft and all) and even it wont go down.

I seem to have trouble now with most meals but weight is starting to come off so i guess its worth it!

You girls are doing so well! Congratulations! Now I am starting to feel like a real slacker!!! So tired - big weekend!!! I actually purchased some Optifast today - thought I might try and kickstart some weight loss. I'm back up to 84 kilos (I keep swinging between 82 -84). I just want to see the 70's.... I was watching some real skinny minnies in their skinny jeans at Saturday nights party. It really motivated me - can you imagine being able to wear 'skinny jeans'??? OMG - that would be a happy, happy day! Have a great week everybody! Lots of Love, P1xie xo

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
I don't have any planned reward scheme.
I am constantly shopping for new clothes. Tops are ok but Bottoms (all my skirts and pants) are too loose. So I have about 2 skirts I can still wear and 1 pairs of pants (which I have already taken in once) for work. So if I'm itching to buy some new clothes, I will put it off untill I lose that next 1/2 kg to get to the next whole number.

I am now 600g off reaching 20kg weight loss.
I have been reading about hypoxi oxygen therapy to reduce cellulite (my thighs need it) so maybe I'll book in for that when I reach that next goal or maybe a long facial/massage or maybe some laser hair removal.
All my rewards seem expensive! makes up for what I don't spend on food!

Hi Deb

Spin class is the best!!! Before i was banded i lost 25kgs by doing a spin class twice a week, keep at it hun, fitness will increase 10 fold and your body will feel amazing. No nothing planned for mini goal because for me i have past that milestone once before and for me reaching it alone will be my reward, look out when i crack the 100 kilo.....i honestly cant remember the last time i weighed under that and i know there will be tears of joy and im not really sure what type of celebration to have.....what sort of rewards do you give yourself?

Dont feel bad about the chocolate thing, you have amazing support around you, all is good in moderation but the fact that your collegues are so good about it is wonderful, lap it up hun!!!

Hope everyone is well.

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
My sentiments exactly , Shan. Enjoy a drink when the opportunity arises, P1xie. You won't need many, P1xie!!!I think we get so caught up in our weight loss, what we should and shouldn't be putting into our mouth, that we forget to have fun!! Have one for me please!

Great news about your weight loss, Shan. I know it's freaky how your weight can vary so much within a few days. I put it down to fluid and hormones too.
Have you got a reward planned when you reach your mini goal of 110? And yes please fell free to talk about your weight, we have no hangups here. we're all in the same boat.
I felt like abit of a killjoy at work the other day. Everyone used to take turns buying morningtea or blocks of chocolate (me being the worst culprit,I had abig choclate habit to support!!!) It is almost Easter and working in a shopping centre and every time I go to BigW I pass the easter egg aisle. I thought no-one has bought choclate in so long, because I have been on my "diet", so I bought a bag of small eggs ( Mars, Mily Way and malteser flavours). I had one of each flavour ( 4eggs, I think I had)and everyone just dived in and ate the rest up. I felt bad that i had been depriving evryone else of chocolate!
But how nice to think everyone is so considerate not to buy it so it's not around to tempt me.
I don't think of my life as hectic. it's just that Thursdays, I don't work. This week, I dropped kids at school, Stooped and chatted with a few mums, headed off to my first spin class ever at 9.30 with 2 other school mums. that went for one hour. we had a latte afterwards. Got home about 11.30, had a shower, got changed went to the hairdresser for 12.30 appointment, had more water then. Left at 2.45 raced to school, picked up kids, took daughter to dancing, I had bought them mini snack wraps from Maccas, but nothing for me. Went home and cleaned house because it is up for sale and someone was coming round at 5.30. Was mopping floor and started to get funny vision,

P1xie,

i dont drink anywhere near as often as i used to (i hope that doesnt make you think i had a problem before....lol) so i figure every now and then wont hurt you. Enjoy my friend!

Had an awesome day at the races yesterday and got told SO MANY TIMES how good i was looking and how much weight i had lost. It make me feel amazing!

ALSO....i got on the scales and when i went for my fill on monday i must have been retaining fluid or something because i got on the scales this morning and i have lost 4 kgs since monday, leaving me 1.2kgs short of my first minor goal of 110kgs (cant believe how freely i can discuss my weight on here!) I was so happy.....having a lot of trouble with different foods since my last fill on Monday, still can eat more than i should but im happy with the way things are progressing thus far.

Hope everyone is having a sensational day
Luv
Shan

Hey Deb love - you forgot to eat??? OMG - how could this be possible??? And you are such a good girl going to a spin classs. I tried one once, but ouch!!! Yes life is vb (very busy) - I get time to get on this thread at times like this - 0404am when I can't sleep and I'm thinking about my usual - oh God which school am I going to send my little munchkin to next year!!! What can I say - I'm a nutcase!!! I went and got another fill on Thursday - a whole ml. Apparently, because I have previously had a band (back in 01), the scar tissue makes the band not so sensitive. I have noticed a difference - I actually have to put my knife and fork down a few times whilst eating a meal now and I don't think I would be able to eat more than 2 slices of toast in one sitting. So the good news is - I am obviously getting 'closer' to my sweet spot. The bad news is - I have 3 parties this weekend (a 5 year old, a 30th and the street Christmas party which was deferred at Christmas because we got rained out). Not worried about the eating side of things but am slightly concerned about what I will drink at the 30th - I need some stress release!!! Oh well - we only live once!!! Cheers! Have a great weekend! Love, P1xie xo PS - I promise I will try and be a good girl next week! Thanks for your support!
PSS - Shan hope you are having a good week!

Hi P1xie
SOrry I wasn't trying to tell you not to have breakkie. I thought maybe you were making the same mistake as me having high calorie protein drinks. It sounds like you have a very busy day. WHen do you find the time to come on here?
I went through a phase too where I wasn't losing any weight just hovering up and down. Then got sick with sore thoat and then tummy bug. Fantastic! Got my weight loss happening again. Probably not a medically recommneded method of weight loss but hey! I'm not complaining!
Yesterday i forgot to eat!
I had a slice of toast for brekkie. A latte after spin class( about 11am). Then about 5pm I started feeling funny, was only the start of a migraine but reminded me that I hadn't had any food all day!! Silly me!
How expensive is the school?
Some places will let you set up payment plans.
I certainly feel the differnece when I'm stressed: I am so tight and even the simplest things don't go down easily! But it is 4 weeks since my last fill and I don't feel the effects wearing off yet!
Fingers crossed.!!!!
How long since your last fill?
Sounds like you're due, love.
Hopefully he can see you soon.
Debra

P.S. Might go and feed my kids now I can hear rummaging in the pantry downstairs

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Thanks Deb and Shan, it amazes me how we are all so different! Deb I can't believe you could hardly hold down a maccas sundae. I have continued on my food rage today and ate a lot of food again!!! This is basically because I have finally come to the realisation that I really cannot afford to send my son to the private school I would like to. I have made an appointment to go and see the band doctor on Thursday. Fill me up! I want to start getting some weight off again. The shake I am having in the morning at the moment, is the Fernwood shake which has a good amount of protein (which is supposed to fill us up), calcium and a range of different vitamins. It is fairly low in cals. I am such a naughty girl. I'm generally not hungry at breakfast time, however, I have always loved breakkie. I would rather go without dinner. I have an early start in the mornings, anywhere between 0515 - 0615 and at about 0730 before I leave home, I like to sit and relax for a good 10 minutes with my shake and a nice cuppa. By that stage I've done a fair amount of housework, a load of washing, the house is spick and span and I can then head off on my hour walk - school drop off and then I continue to work (it takes me half an hour to walk home too - so I am definately getting my exercise in). Then I start my next shift - a full day's work in the office, before returning home at around 6.00pm and starting the family chores again!!! That 10-15 minutes in the morning is my down time. Yes and here I go trying to justify myself once again - another life time habit - the enjoyment of breakfast. Ok, ok I will try to stop my breakkie habit!!! Boo, hoo - I love my breakkie!!!
Take care ladies! Love, P1xie xo

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hi P1x1e
Maybe stay away from protein shakes.
I had gotten into the pattern of thinking I HAD to eat breakfast but was too restricted in the morning to eat runny porridge. I started having protein shakes like Up & Go ETC.
My doctor told me to stop. I didn't have to eat breakfast if i couldn't get anything down. He told me to wait until I was hungry, usually about 11 am.
We should try to stick to 1000-1200 cal per day. Are you talk about diet shakes or other protein shakes?
Check the calories. The problems with shakes is that they are liquid and don't make you feel full.
Try a couple of hard boiled eggs or scrambled for breakfast.
I'm lucky that I've only had 2 fills and feel restricted enough. Like tonight I was stressed and annoyed and even eating a MacDonalds Sundae was feeling like it was not going down!! If I eat bananas I have to eat slowly and then I gurgle for a while after!
But more fill sounds like the answer.
Good luck
Debra

Hey P1xie

I wish i was going, you make sure you enjoy and make the most of it, would be really interested in hearing how it all goes! Was a pretty bad blockage, Sausage sizzles guys............dont go there trust me on that one!!!

Im the same as you mate, havent really lost any since the band went in, mostly before hand on opti. I am very careful abount what i at and i exercise heaps. I had a bit of a cry yesterday when i had my fill and put on 1/2 kg, cant work out why. I was told it was normal and its because im not adjusted properly yet. I hate seeing the scales move that way and hearing all the time that im not adjusted properly but i guess it will work and i will be so appreciative when it does. Keep plugging away at it mate. Maybe dont wait for so long in between fills. Maybe try eating some more low GI foods that will keep you fuller for longer........Hope that helps to let you know your not alone mate!!!

Yeah Deb it was a pretty darn bad one, made me re-evaluate things and got me back on track thats for sure

Cheers

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hi Ladies,
Shan you poor thing that blockage sounds awful!!!
I'm so sorry I have been so slack but I really haven't had much to write about! My weight is still at a stand still - I keep swinging between 82 - 85 kilos. I just cannot seem to break out of the 80's. I was so, so good last week - walked every day, ate well, then I went to my WW meeting on Thursday night to discover I had only lost .4 of a kilo. Well that sent me off my little trolley and I have been on an eating spree ever since! Last Thursday morning 82.4 - yesterday morning 84.6. I must contact my surgeons office because I really am starting to think that my band may be leaking??? I had another fill last week but I did not notice any difference. I still have huge capacity and can easily eat 4 slices of toast in one sitting. I think I am supposed to have 6.2 mls in at the moment but I really don't have much restriction at all. I just start to feel a bit uncomfortable in my port region if I eat too much. Very, very low in energy, however, I have been taking heaps of vitamins and eating heaps of fish, I have a protein shake (which are full of vitamins) each morning. I came so close to losing my life last Thursday night when I walked home from WW - I walked straight in front of a tram. I did not see it or hear it - I was in a complete daze - I swear it missed me by mm's and gave me the biggest fright. Saturday morning instead of spraying my families clothes with stain remover, I sprayed them with Mr Sheen. Oh boy! I'm starting to get worried about myself! It's now 0409am and I awake feeling lousy as I seem to have come down with a bad case of the flu. My eating is continueing as I stress over deciding which school to send my little one to next year. Is anyone off to band camp in April? I'm going - I'm hopeing to come back all motivated. Take care everyone. Love, P1xie xo

Hey Deb

neck is still a little tight but oh so much better thank you. Blood tests came back fine apart from my thyroid function which is a spin off from my PCOS, they just upped my dosage, changed my multi vitamin to Swisse womens ultivite and even my hair seems to have stopped falling out as much. Hope that helps mate

I had the biggest blockage yesterday that i have ever had, the pain in between my chest was ecrutiating and i felt like i couldnt breathe it just wouldnt go away. After half an hour it eventually did but it was the longest darn half hour ive ever had. The experience really reiterated to me that i have to be really really careful, so scary and i hope to never have it again.

Hope everyone is well.

Shan
