Hello guys, still feeling a bit flat but thanks heas for your messages of support.
P1xie, Pyretta once told me that chips are one thing that dont seem to cause touble no matter how full you are. Babe you gotta get it out of your head....remember why you did this and be strong. Every now and then is ok.....only buy a small bag instead of the big ones...see how that goes maybe.

Cant wait to hear all about camp, tell him Shan from Albury says hello and i will be there to do it at some stage this year!!!

Love
SHan

OOh please tell us all about band camp! I wish it was a bit closer to brisbane!
I have the opposite problem...chips and chocolate go down easily but good food like fruit and veges are a struggle at times! I have been avoiding salads and eating very unhealthy food. i'm sure i'm not getting enough vitamins and minerals from my food.
I need to make a bit more effort with my food maybe time for a visit to the dietician for a pep talk to get back on hte straight and narrow.

That's it BB - I ate another 200g packet of Smiths chips today. I'm booking in for another fill and I'm going to ask them for a full ml. I want it to hurt. I want those chippies to hurt. Something has to stop me!!! I did not go through this horrific operation (remember I was opened up completely because of previous complications - 38 staples - so don't think I'm being a wuss please)for nothing!!! Have a great weekend everyone! I will give you a full report on 'band camp' next week! Love, P1xie xo

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Shan, it is a HUGE accomplishment that you took your frustration out on the treadmill instead of using food for comfort! Well done, you should be so proud! Having a band to restrict food is one thing, but changing the way your brain wants you to react, that is all you!

P1x, I am so glad you have decided on a school, I dont beleive there is a perfect school, there will always be some teacher, SSO, or student that causes ripples. Just be confident that you have made the best choice for the little fella!
I am much the same as you will over booking myself too.
I have been pretty good on the ch ocky front, a little egg here and there, and no hope of chips for this little black duck! I can do rice cakes etc. but not chippies!
Cheers

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
My apologies ladies for being such a slacko - my life is so, so full on! I have some time off for the school holidays and I kind of over scheduled myself - this is the first chance for me to read over my favourite board. As you all know I have been stressing badly over what school to send my little man to next year. All of my older friends kept telling me to 'stop stressing as the answer would come to me'. Funnily enough that is exactly what has happened - after weighing up all the pro's and con's for months, I have decided to send him to the little Catholic school and I am very comfortable with my decision. I feel as though a huge weight has been lifted from my shoulders!!!
On the flip side - still not much more weight loss for me. I am still swinging anywhere between 82 - 86 kilos - going up and down. I went for another fill last week and that took me up to 8.6 mls. Would you believe still not much restriction and of course no problems with chocolate and chips (I know, I am very naughty but I will explain that to you later). I started to get really concerned that something was wrong so yesterday I took myself off for a barium meal. I'm happy to report that there is nothing wrong with my band - I just still don't have enough fill. Apparently, because I have had a lot of previous stomach surgery, there is a lot of scar tissue and my band is not overly sensitive. Hopefully this will be rectified and soon!
Ok the chocolate thing - I took little man to the Cadbury Easter Hunt on Friday and would you believe, he came home with 145 eggs! Then of course he got about another 50 odd over the weekend from various friends and the Easter Bunny! So the house has been absolutely full of chocolate and of course I just cannot resist! I swear I need to go into chocolate rehab. I have put on 3 kilos in the past week or so!!! I'm off to band camp this week so I am hoping and praying that they give me the motivation and inspiration that I desperately need. Love P1x xo

Hey Gorgeous Shan,
Pick your self up and dust yourself off girl - he just wasn't the right person for you! Be thankful for the experience and move on. Enjoy your life and all the experiences that each person that enters it, brings. Your special man is out there! You have such a beautiful personality - I promise you - he will come! I know you have felt sad but really it is better off that this guy called it quits now rather than lead you on (or worse use you) for months or possibly years. In a year's time you are going to be a totally different person (slim and full of confidence) you deserve only the best! We are all so proud of you that you have not succombed to the emotional eating thing! Go Shan! Lots of cyber hugs to you! Love, P1xie xo

Well hope everyone has had a happy easter. Mine was a little sad actually, have been spending some time with a wonderful guy and he told me last night that hes not interested in pursuing anything with me, am really sad about it because he seemed like he was different. Anyway so of naturally out of habit i have blamed myself and the way i look for it and am trying SSSSOOOOOOOO hard not to do the emotional eating thing that i normally would do. We'll see how that goes i suppose wont we.

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Well done Judi
20kg is a great achievement! 3 dress sizes is amazing. How much more do you have to lose? How long since you've been banded?
What is there to be negative about? I ate a medium sized cherry ripe egg this afternoon (I probably shared half of it with hubby and kids)and not a single feeling of remorse or guilt for "cheating". I eat everything good bad and inbetween but not much of it. I don't think I could have eaten the whole thing by myself anyway. Not bad for a reformed chocaholic!!
I think that's great!!

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Congrats Jade, being under 100 is a milestone!!! Just wait until you get to 90kgs!!!
Start taking you measurements today: chest, waist, hips, thigh and upper arm and check it every month. It's never too late!
You may not feel like you have dropped a dress size probably because your clothes were too big before. I'm sure you must have something in your wardrobe that was uncomfortable to do up or just too snug across your chest. Take a photo of yourself in an item of clothing that you have that still feels tight. Then watch it get looser and looser.
I had a pair of grey workpants that were starting to get too tight (pre-op) and I was thinking it was time to get rid of them. But now here I am 20 weeks after banding and I have already taken those pants in once. And now they are Sooooooooooooo baggy, I couldn't be bothered taking them in again. They are going to Vinnie's.
I bought myself some denim shorts months ago and I could only just do up the button and they slip down if I bend down!!
So go to Miller's or Crossroads. Find soemthing on sale
(often you can score things for $5!)Buy yourself some pants or shorts that you can only just do up adn watch them get loose. It is an amazing feeling!
Keep up the good work

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hey everyone,

Things all going fairly well for me at the moment and i must say that my confidence levels are starting to soar. I went out last night for a girlfriends birthday and got so much attention from the men that were out and in pictures i only have one chin and also a jaw line...........im absolutely stoked. Ive noticed that being as tired as i am today i seem to have a large amount of restriction....whichis good because habit for me is after a night out to eat rubbish and now i just cant............its fantastic!!!

Hope your all well

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
I can say without trying it that meat loaf would be a no-go for me. I eat lamb cutlets also, 1 if it is big or 2 if it is tiny. I can manage a large spoon or two of potato or veges combined. I can eat melon if it is very well chewed & peeled grapes. I can’t eat cashews but I can eat macadamias and almonds. I also buy the tiny lamb rumps or shoulder steaks, they are about the size of the palm of my hand or smaller, and I wrap and freeze them all separately. I can usually eat most kinds of roast meat with lots of gravy, but haven't tried beef, and because I can't eat bread I make Yorkshire pudding and can eat a small bit of that. I can eat pasta if its spag bol with lots of sauce and can usually eat rice. I haven't tried steak since 2 fills ago and can see it not working. My tummy gurgles every time I eat so I am used to this as well as taking forever to eat tiny amounts of food. I know there are people who just couldn't cope with my restriction, but I am grateful for it. Like most banded people I can eat almost any kind of junk food so I still have to exercise some self-control, which I can do most of the time, but I do have some kind of desert every day. I have also started enjoying the gym a bit, I can’t say I love it but it’s fine now and I don’t hate it anymore.

I am a bit disappointed that I haven’t really dropped a clothing size, I guess I was wearing my clothes too tight or had just stretched them to the next size up. I never took my measurements because I was too ashamed so now I am regretting this, as I would have been able to see results in another form other than the scales. I just might be ready to do it now J

Keep up the good work, every day is a struggle but it will be all worth it in the end.

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hello girls,

I just wanted to share with you all that I am now officially under 100kgs! Yesterday I weighed myself and I was 99.8kgs so I waited for today just to make sure it stayed down, so this morning I was 99.7kgs so I knew it was real! I started at 116.6kgs so at 16.9kg weight loss now and pretty happy with that.

In regards to restriction and PB'ing, I have my band really tight, I think I am just lucky as I only have 6.8mils in it and if it was any tighter I wouldn't be able to eat or drink. This last fill I was really considering having some fill out as I pb'ed daily for over a week and could not eat until late afternoon. After 2 weeks I started being able to eat lunch again and it has settled down. I have to be very careful about what I eat and instead of the normal PB my most common problem is with mucus, my body seems to make a lot when something is hard to digest, and not even stuck.

Continuing on..

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
I haven't posted for ages but sounds like everyone is doing really well. I have restriction, can easily not eat nearly all day start to get hungry about 5pm and then can only eat a little bit. I still find it hard to get my head around it being ok not to eat for long periods but does give you a lot more time in the day. I am 1kg off the 30kg loss mark and very pleased. Have started geting lots of comments from people which is great and very motivating. Have been resisiting buying new clothes as have a lot more to lose but bought a new dress last week for an upcoming event and it was 3 sizes less, I was jumping up and down in the change room! As I have restricton I have also had a few PB's about 5 now. This has been scattered over the last 5 weeks. For me doesn't really seem to be foods but the speed in which I eat. If I go to fast it will come back up. I find it quite hard to go as slow as I need too. One trick has been eating a tiny first few bites, my Dr thinks that the mucous which sits in the pouch causes the band to block(which hurts) or it comes back up. He said if you have a small bite and then put your fork down and wait a good 3- 5minutes it has time to go down, when I do this the band seems to relax and I can continue to eat. I have noticed it tighter after exercise, when I am tired, stressed or upset, for the first half of the day and at certain times of the month. Great to hear everyones progress and keep up the good work

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
P1xie, I was born July 1967. So I'm almost 42. When's your birthday?
Shan,
my doctor gave me a special plate: it is entree sized and has different sections marked. Half the plate is for protein and half is for veges. There is a little circle showing bite size. There is even a circle showing portion size for dressing or sauce. Around the edge of the plate are motivational/reminders eg nibble, chew (I can't remember any more). I don't use the plate all the time but
when I feel I need to control what i'm eating i pull it out. It shouldn't be piled higher than 2 cm.
I think its available from great nutrition ideas. I think there is a website and you can order stuff from there.
Maybe that might help with protion sizes. But just using an entree plate of your own works the same.
I have to chew like mad or else I get restricted very easily. I cooked some lambs (frenched) cutlets: I only managed 2 tiny cutlets, a third of a steam fresh peas/carrot/corn bag and about 1 tablespoon of mashed potato. I felt full and really just couldn't be bothered eating anymore.
Then about 7.30 I had a scoop of ice cream. Then spent the next hour vacuuming and cleaning, JOY!
It feels great not to want food. Hope you get there soon.
The scales said this morning I am 100g away from the 20kg loss mark!
Debra
