I am right there with you, although I havent been exercising. I eat really badly, there's no wonder I am not losing weight....but I refuse to diet.
It is going to be in there forever...there's no rush...
Ive only lost 12 kg in 6 months...but it's 12kg I might have gained if I didnt have the band... |

| Hi to all the Novemberites, Yes it's P1xie back from the dead! Unfortunately, I cannot report that I have lost any big numbers. However, I must admit that I really have not had my head in the right place for losing weight. I've been eating naughty things and my exercise has been pretty much non existent. Like Deb, the problems that crop up in life keep getting in the way. Howeever, problems are always going to crop up in life so I will have to learn how to work around them. It does not help that I have a young son and a workaholic husband! I caught up with the lovely Bec and Pyretta today and they both really inspired me so hopefully I get my act together. I would appreciate any tips etc on how to get my head into the right spot and how others manage to do the whole wonder woman thing - work full time, be mother of the year, have a spotlessly clean house, fit exercise in and cook healthy meals! Have a great week everyone! Love, P1xie xo |

I'm just waiting for my husband to return home so I can tell him that I am going (hee, hee, hee)!!! Also, I will be on the phone to the Prof's room's tomorrow morning. I really hope to make it on Saturday! Enjoy the rest of your week! Love, P1x |

Looks like my husband will be the next one to join our banded club!!
We went to the SIOS at Ashfield and is booked in for 17th June with Michael Talbot. The nice thing about the visit is that my husband's BMI is only 35.1...he's not as overweight as he thinks he is! Now he weighs 117kg, for his height he should be 80kg but the nurse said we only expect you to lose half that weight, so she gave him a goal of 90kg! |

Hi Debra,
Looks like things are turning around for you, I bet it has been a scary week with so much uncertainty.
As for finding a surgeon you should join Sydband,
http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/SydBand/
There is a file with all the Sydney Surgeons listed and they will also be able able to give you advice on dietitians and so on. We also have heaps of get-togethers.
Good luck with everything, I bet you will be a very busy bee over the next couple of months.

Well , it looks like I am getting my life back on track. We have been talking with a company about buying into their business. They set up joint venture businesses (sort of like franchise) My husband and i had looked into it about 12 months ago, so we already knew what was involved. It looks like we will get a store in Syndey's inner west.
Now starts the process of finding somewhere to live and school for the kids. they have enjoyed having a week off school and seeing the sights of Sydney even though it has been wet and cold!! Definitely have to go shopping today for warmer clothes.
I will have to find myself a lapband doctor for my follow ups (not that I'm having any problems). Circle of Care is in Sydney isn't it? Who has been there? I would like to see a dietician again and fine tune my eating, though it is still very random at the moment.
I have another 8 kgs to lose to get to goal but i need to start to tone ny flabby body.
I have certainly noticed that at almost 42, my skin has lost some of its elasticity. You start to see these subtle changes to let you know you're not 25 anymore!! I can understand why plastic surgery is so popular!! |

Hi folks
where is everyone? Disappeared into the doldrums of no weight loss???
Here I am sitting in an appartment in Sydney, can't open my curtain because 1m is all that separates me and the poeple walking down the street! How does anyone get used to that in Sydney? In brisbane I'm used to a little but more space!! All my furniture is sitting in a house in Griffith and we have just dodged the floods down the east coast in an effort to get here. My husband wants to live here and I'm not so sure.
The business we supposed to buy has now fallen through. The dithery old man we were buying from didn't sign bank papers in time. So now we can't get finance from the bank because our house has sold. Stupid man. He has been trying to sell his business for nearly 2 years and ours was the only offer. It's a great business but because it's in Griffith you don't get to many people willing to go live out there.
The last thing on my mind is weight loss.

Hello November 08 Banders.
Well it is my six month bandiversary today and at this morning's weigh in I've lost 18kgs. I was banded on 17th November. I've also been thinking it was a bit slow but reading through your comments I see I am not alone. My friends encourage me to look at the positive things like my BMI has dropped from the Morbidly Obese category to the Obese category and slower weight loss means less issues with saggy skin in the end. Most of all I am still 18 kgs lighter than I was six months ago and without this surgery I might even be heavier now than my banding weight. I also think my band could be a bit tight at the moment. Happy Bandiversary's to everyone else during the month and keep up the good work. :-) |

Hey everyone,
I too got half a ml removed yesterday. I am very nervous that I will now gain weight, but the dietician assured me I wont. I guess I just wasnt getting enough to eat, so my body was in starvation mode...if you believe that...I dont really...
So I bought a BBQ chicken on the way home, and had half the breast for dinner. It was nice to eat chicken again. I havent been able to eat anything really for about 2 months, resorting to soft/mushy and easy to eat foods. This is what the problem is apparently.
The dietician said I should try and eat a sandwich in about 15 minutes. I am going on trust right now as eating a sandwich (bread) is just so against the past 20 years of my programming diet wise...
Fingers crossed this works..I just have to focus on eating right and not taking the easy option (soup, mashed potato etc)...
God that chicken was good.... |

| I had half a cc removed last night - our bands are in cc's not mls I got told, I asked what the capacity of the bad was. I can eat again, but I don't crave the sweet things. I want to be able to eat a fresh apple or a chicken stirfry - hanging out for that one. |

I am so glad I came back and read the posts on here. It helps knowing I am not the only one having problems wiht food. I PB almost everything I eat unless I stick to soup or mushies so I have found myself eating chocolate, ice cream, chips etc. I am sure the band is too tight but scared that if I have some fluid out I will be hungry again. I have an appt with the doc on the 28th May so I might ask him to take a small amount out, maybe 0.25mls. I am hoping that this will be enough to allow the healthy food to go down without gettign those hunger pains back :)

Sounds like you've found yourself a good dietician. Having someone to guide you with your eating is great. It's so easy to get into bad habits, thinking we are doing the right thing.

| Thanks everyone for their messages/replies. I went and saw my Dr today and he said he thought the band was too tight. He removed 0.5ml. He said if things didn't improve by next week to come back and see him. So hopefully this will work and won't allow me to eat too much either. The only good thing about it is that I lost another 2kg. But he said I may put a bit back on if I didn't stick to eating healthy food (which I haven't been too good at over the past few weeks). Hope everyone continues their good work. |

| I was banded on 13 November and I've ony lost 14.2kgs in total which I find so frustrating, but I've been having problems with getting anything down and keeping it down since my last fill in April. I've had a very up and down start to the year as I lost my job after 15 years and had to go throught the stress of finding another and it scared the hell out of me. Luckily I got another within two months and it pays better. I've posted under a different thread about vomiting and reflux -I'm going to have some taken out tonight and hopefully that will help it settle down. I found a dietician called Helen Bauzon who works in the eastern suburbs and on the weekends which is important to me as being in a new job, I just can't take the afternoon off to go to medical appointments just yet. I don't know of any dieticians that specialise in bands that work in the Western Suburbs. I saw her and we worked out that I was eating or trying to eat way too much food and of course it had nowhere to go but out, and also my chewing technique was not the best. I told her that it takes me half an hour to eat a small bowl of soup and she told me the band is too tight and that I should try and see Mr Monk and get some taken out, which I will do tonight. I also bought her book and dvd's that she has and the book is a very good portable reminder of what I'm trying to do. I haven't started to excercise yet as my physio wants me to get to the 110kg before I start getting into it, which I'm close to it. I would like to lose at least 15kg more before the end of the year. |

| Thanks to evryone for their encouraging comments. This band thing is not easy and I can understand people being frustrated that their weight loss isn't as quick as they hoped. I have lost 35kg but I must say I need to loose 73kg in total and I am sure as I get closer it will get harder and harder. Even though not being hungary helps I still fight psychologically to eat the right things and am exercising very hard. My weight loss only really started when I ramped up the exercise and got a few good fills. Keep talking to your Dr's they have watched lots of others lose and should be able to help. See if there is anything small you can change in your diet or to increase activity. Don't be disappointed in small numbers its all going in the right direction and you WILL get there. Sending positive vibes |

Today I ate a slice of Span ish omelette (my son made me for mother's day breakfast/brunch in bed)
For late lunch, my husband ordered me a bacon and egg burger (no patty- just salad, egg and bacon)all I ate was a bit of the bacon and a few potato gems. Didn't even want to attempt that doughy white bun. what was he thinking to order me that! Then had a gaytime icecream.
Dinner was a MacDonalds iced coffee.
I am so disgusted with myself. What an unhealthy diet. I definitely need that fill out. I miss my fruit and salad. |

I might have some of my fill removed too. I am rather stressed at the moment... selling business, buying new one, moving interstate, coping with husband having emotional meltdown because it's not happening as quick as he'd like!!!!
I find everything I eat I have to be SO careful because I immediately get uncomfortable. So I'm resorting to junk food...easy chew food.. not healthy food that takes more work like veges and meat/chicken. Even 0.1ml out may psychologically help.
we went out for dinner Saturday night and I couldn't choose anything from the menu because I thought everything will be a problem. But I had half a piece of pecan pie and that didn't hurt a bit.
debra
But I am a cow and have lost another 1.2kgs but that has taken 4 weeks. |

Hi Sal,
Finding perfect restriction is a pain isn't it?
A few weeks ago I went for an unfill because I was pbing every meal pretty much every day, there were a few meals that got down OK. My main problem was every time I'd eat my body would make so much saliva to push it down I had to PB my own saliva, not so much the food, it didn't seem to be getting stuck as such, I had this tight restriction for 6 weeks or so hoping it would settle down but it didn't.
Since having 0.3mils out I am back to being able to eat pretty much anything, steak, toast, calamari and so on and can eat much more, still smaller than my old portions but more than I would like. It's amazing how a drop of saline can make such a difference. Now I have to decide next time if I want to try and get a tiny bit of fill again.
Too much pbing for me made me feel completely unsatisfied and led me to the lollies, milk, chocolate path, which normally I don't go down.
Well that's my battle with restriction. It's a struggle to get it right so hopefully your band will settle down or you will be able to get it adjusted soon.
Your weight loss is fantastic, I have the same starting weight as you but have only gotten down to 99kg so far. My goal is around 60kgs as I am only short.

| Have not been on this site for a while. Has just been 6 months since my banding (2nd Nov 08). I have lost 26 kilo, so an average of a kilo a week (my start weight was 116, am now 90kg). Am feeling really good about the weight loss. I am beginning to feel though that my band is too tight. Am considering getting some taken out (have 6.5mls in). Some days I can't keep any solid food down. Some days are ok and I can manage solid food. would like to hear about anyone else having a similar problem. Not sure if it is too tight now that I have lost some weight. Some days i'm flat out keeping fluids down also. I know its not good for me, but with the weight coming off well I don't want to ruin that either. Confusion!!! |

Huge congrats to the ladies with the big weight losses. Deb thank you for your kind words to those of us that are feeling a little disheartened. I'm another one who really hasn't managed to lose much weight (if any) since Jan/Feb -I've lost about 14 kilos all up and 8 of those were prior to my op. Deb I will definately take your advice and look for a Melbourne support group. Have a great weekend all. Love, P1xie
PS - I can't believe it's been six months! |
