Logging in nice and early - looking out for you 'It's Pos' - wondering how you are getting on (although now come to think about it you are probably still in the hospital - I'll blame my blonde hair for that one)! Anyhow, have definately been thinking of you and hopefully you are travelling well. Debra - I think you are doing really well - they were actually giving me pureed fruit in the hospital so I am sure that would be ok and yep I definately would have succombed to the Maccas cone (although for me it probably would have been a *** sundae) if I went to Mac Donalds. In some ways my 38 staples down the middle are a good thing, because I never over eat in portion size - terrified I will bust these staples and I want a straight scar not some zig zaggy mess like I had before! Isn't it funny how we automatically go to eat the food scr@ps? I really noticed that when I was on Opti. Made myself feel a bit like a little dogger!
BB - I wish you lived closer to me - how are you going love? Cough up please - latest weight loss progress please!!! I'm already looking forward to your next Melbourne 'girly' trip. Just imagine this time next year -you are going to be hot, hot, hot! For those who have not met Ms BB - she is very pretty! I don't think she is going to know herself once she gets this weight off. I didn't know my stats last night Trace but I have just weighed myself - start of Opti 98.8 kgs (which was 4 weeks prior to op). Op last Monday, today 87.2 kilos = 10.6 kilos. A girl has to be happy with that, especially at this time of the year - normally I would be putting that amount on!!! It is so nice to be in the 80's - I can hardly believe it, but don't get too excited for me because I am a real short stuff - you know the one - I just look like a big, round, bouncy ball!!! However, (I just went to say 'if' but I am going to say) 'when' I reach the 70's I am going to be so happy, happy, happy!!! Have a great day everyone! Love, P1xie xo |

Hi p1xie
I have stuck to liquids but some of the soups I bought were a bit lumpy or once I blended them were a bit fibrous. The kids wanted to go to Maccas yesterday so i had a soft serve cone ( the ice cream only not the cone) but that's as solid as i've dared. Almost ate a snow pea as I was cooking dinner for the family: had to remind myself couldn't eat it. I had a tub of pureed fruit. I'm not supposed to start "mushies" until the 12th December!

Hi Deb, Definately call the surgeon - better to be on the safe side than sit at home worrying. I hope things get better for you, real soon. I got banded three days after you and already I have been a bit naughty - for some reason I have been craving the tomotoe sauce from your regular can of heinz spaghetti (something I wouldn't normally want in a million years). So at lunch time - I opened that heinz can up and although I had very good intentions of just eating the sauce it turned out to be quite thick and I ended up eating some spaghetti too. Hmmmmm...it was so yummy. Who would have ever thought I would think heinz spaghetti could taste so good. I even attacked it 'cold' later??? I suppose I better hit the liquids again tomorrow - don't want to burst my staples! Love, P1xie xo
PS - Did everyone else stick to liquids for the first 2 weeks??? |

Hi everyone
Have just just signed in for the first time.
Had my surgery on 21st nov in brisbane with Dr Doug Nicholson.
So one week on I am starting to find liquids hard when everyone else around you is eating "normal" food!. One of my incisions is still hurting-might have to call Dr on Monday |

Hello fellow Novemberites, now that we are all done, wouldn't it be great to do montly updates? If you agree, on your banding monthly anniversaries, why don't you post your progress, whether that be weight, measurements or non scale victories?
So on the 3rd of December it would be great to hear from the 3rd of November bandits etc etc...
Looking forward to hearing from everyone.
Tracey

Thanks again to everyone for your kind support, words and love. You really are a treffic bunch and if you were here I'd be giving you a big bear hug each. Silva - I keep looking at those nasty staples thinking - how are they going to get them out??? Now I'm really not looking forward to that one!! That will happen next Thursday. But honestly guys - I cannot believe how much progress I am making each day. I already feel like a new woman. I feel 100% healthier than I did only a week ago! Pos - you are so doing the right thing, you can do this and you will do this. Remember we are doing this for the little people in our lives - it is so worth it. You will be fine. I know. Please do not hesitate to sing out if you need anything, even if it is just a hug. My thoughts and prayers are with you - but you will be just great. See you on the flip side!!! Love, P1xie xo
To everyone else I wish you a fantastic weekend!!! |

| minimeepec try not to focus to much on the weight at this stage as you are healing. The weight gain will be due to fluids and the gas they pumped you up with. It took me almost a week to feel like the bloating had gone away. It will all catch up and work for you I'm sure. |

Congratulations to all, it's nearly over for us...
Tell me, how can you gain 3kg overnight (ok, I blame the IV Fluids), then barely eat for 3 days and lose nothing ?...
I am SO SCARED this isnt going to work for me....
How is everyone else going with their weight?
I shouldnt be weight focused right now, and most of the time I am not, I am more just trying to get through the next few days and not convince myself Ive done the wrong thing....
cheers to all |

Hi P1xie!
Welcome to the other side - you must be so thrilled it's all over! Yeowch to the 38 staples holding you together... to me, that was the worst part of the whole banding experience: getting them removed!
So thrilled to hear it all went well and the Prof was every bit as good as you'd hoped he'd be.
Looking forward to hearing more about how things went.
Take gentle care,
Silva |

Great to see you posting P1xie, I am sure you will be 100% soon! Actually you will be better than before so more than 100% :-)
Shan, you could try a bit of apple juice when your sugar drops, you body will be all over the place for a while, it has had a big shock!
I had the worst dizzy spells about a week post op, one day was constant spinning and I couldnt even drive. Doc told me my body had had a shock and it would go away, it stopped a few days later!

Hi there everyone.
Well 4 days banded today. So far i have lost 2 kgs, that makes 10 since i started Optifast. Im wrapped that its all over but whoever got away with the proceedure pain free were certainly lucky little devils. I was in a enormous amount of pain in the recovery room and for some time once taken back to my room. I slept most of the night until the saline bag kicked in, i also had the dreaded shoulder pain and am still experiencing it but its getting a little better each day. Have wind built up that is sooooo annoying and hard to move.I came home two days later and still suffering nausea (i think its from the anaesdthetic - i always suffer from it). Today i feel human again and my fluid intake has been a lot better but im not really sure if im having enough or too much as my sugar keeps dropping quite low (not a diabetic either)
Good luck to everyone yet to be done and 'lets do this' to all those already done!!!!!

| Hi everyone, Thank you so much for thinking of me and for your love and support. A special big thank you to BB and Silva. I got home this arvo. The Prof is truely amazing. I've got 38 staples down my middle - apparently the banding was easy but I had lots of hernias from my previous surgeries which was the difficult part of my operation. Once this all heals I am sure I am going to feel 100% better about myself. It's Pos - keep your beautiful chin up - I am absolutely positive that you are doing the right thing. The future is bright and shiny for all of us in 2009. I'm a bit rough around the edges at the moment so I will tap out a longer post in the near future. I will be thinking of you C! You will be just fine - if you need anything tell the other C to give me ahoy - I live just around the corner from your hospital. Love to all, P1xie xo |

| Hi everyone well we have nearly all made it through the first steps. I'm doing well have really started to feel the hungar though and am only really loosing weight through willpower and exercise. I saw Dr last week for post op appointment and he was happy with weight loss so far about 13kg's am booked to have first fill next Thursday so looking forward to that. Starting to try wider variety of foods so far no issues at all, feel like I could probably eat anything so apart form the scars don't even really feel like I have a band. |

so glad to here P1xie is doing well, can't believe only 1 more day and all Novemberites will be banded.
I have just had my first 3 nights back at work since banding on 11/11 all went well, lots of compliments on weight loss so far (21kgs since August), for anyone afraid to tell my experience so far is that no one has given me anything but admiration and support for what I am doing. Anyone that asks about my weight loss and how I am doing it is given the truth, almost everyone is then either very curious about the surgery for themselves or for another friend or family member and want all the details. I figure if I can help anyone else be inspired to lose weight it can only be a good thing and I wouldn't feel right misleading people about how I am doing it.
Anyway hope everyone is healing well and big cyber get well thoughts and hugs to Liz, I hope you feel better soon and come back and delight us with your sense of humour and strength soon.
