I intend reverting to immaturity as soon as my youngest is 18 (8 yrs to go ) have been a serious and responsible adult since about the age of 14 just by nature and am hanging to misbehave and be a little immature. I laugh everytime at work when a client is described as "elderly" or "infirm" then I'll see their date of birth and their only 50-60 (usually description given by some 18 yr old with no idea ) my parents are 69 and 70 and are the ones when they visit my home that will do any DIY job they think needs doing(without being asked) and I don't even think of them as middle aged really.

Listen here you "Youngsters". I'm 60 years old (still think like a 25 year old) and plan on another 30 years of good living. Was banded on the 21st November and have lost 12kgs since the op. I'm pretty happy at this stage. Will have my first fill next Monday. Life is great - even at my old age!!

What's this middle aged business? I'm 41 and no one ever believs me: maybe I just don't act that way. Certainly don't feel over 40. But you're right Ali, 40 is not considered middle age anymore.
I am trying not to panic if I don't lose weight. I try to be positive like you: at least I haven't put it on!!!!

I have to agree this seems to be the most frustrating time I've had my first fill on 23/12 and have restriction and can't really eat much more than 200 mls in any meal but the scales have stayed the same since fill....I suppose its probably the first time at this time of year that I haven't put on weight though. Can't wait till 7/1 till my next fill and poss even more restriction.

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Just had my first fill. My doctor inserted the needle into the port then got me to sit up and take a sip of water. That went down easily so he added some more. I had another mouthul that went down too. So he added more the next mouthful felt stuck so he removed some of the fluid and I could actually feel the water go down. So in the end I had 4.5 ml in my 11ml band. Then he sent me out to the waiting area. I had to eat a tub of yoghurt. I f there was no problems I was allowed to go. so it means only fluids for the rest of the day. Sloppy foods tomorrow then start back on silds the next day. Any problems then I have to ring straight away. Hoefully this should get rid of my hunger and kick start my weight loss again

Had my second fill today, would only give me another .5ml but I am booked for another in 2 weeks. Was happy to see I had actually dropped another 2 kg's since my last appointment 7 weeks ago, would have liked it to be more but at least it's going in the right direction. Reading everyone's comments I think it is really frustrating at this stage as we have surived pre- op and surgery and just want everything to happen quickly, sounds like it is common for the wt loss to slow down and for it to take 3 or more fills until you notice any restriction. Of course different experience for everyone but I'm sure we will all get there, just need to try and stay positive

Hi
I was banded a few weeks before you and I am going thru the same thing. I havent lost anything now for a month. My clothes are loose but it is frustrating that its not showing on the scales. My dietician said that it was normal and I just need more in the band. I dont go until the 18th of Feb.

welcome Patsy
I'm glad you found this forum. We love chatting and writing about our lapband journey. It is so good to have other people who understand what you're going through.
We all get frustrated at times...if only the weight just magically melted away!! But i always try to remember it took years to put it on so it's is going to take awhile to take the kilos off. That's the thing with lapband surgery.
But talk to your doctor. Most doctors and their support staff are excellent and are there to help.
When I'm feeling discouraged and the scales are not saying what I would like, I try on some of my old clothes. I'm sure you must have something that is now too loose.
I was banded 21st Nov and have lost 10.5 kgs so far. But in the last 3 weeks I have only lost 0.6kg. My first fill is today.
But do you know what I did yesterday...I spent the afternoon taking in clothes. I had to take in about 8cm from the waist band of my good black work trousers!!! I don't want to go buy too many new clothes at this stage.
so hang in there. Try going on optifast for a week and see if that kick starts your weight loss again
But we're always here!!!

Hi ladies,
My name is patsy I'm 42 and live in Tassie, I had my lap band done on the 25th November, have had one fill, and do not have another fill untill the 2nd Feb. Lost 8 kilos first month, but feel that I have not lost any this month, getting a bit frustrated, other people say that they can notice that I have lost weight, but i don't see it. I hope that I start to lose after next fill.I'm so happy the I found this site being able to veiw other people progress has been very uplifting and enlightning.

Hey P1xie

thanks for your kind words. I got the plan and printed it off today and will start it next week. I really want to get some wight moving, im starting to get compliments so maybe its coming off in inches rather than kilos at the moment or something.

I remember being at an information night and asking the question about excess skin. ALL of the Drs told me that because it was a slow process and my age that more than likely i will not beed to have a tuck.....i would like to think that i dont have to but am aiming to loose about 40kgs in total and have a strong belief that i will need it done. I start to get stressed out when i think of that and tell myself that i will cross that bridge when i come to it. I hope not but think so....I have rather large breasts as well and gravity is already taking hold on them so am sure they will need a job done on them by the time im done....unless i turn into GI Jane in the meantime....hahah

Enjoy the rest of your day mate

Hope everyone is well

CHeers

Hi Shan and Deb,
Thank you for your replies! Shan - I kind of can't wait to get back to work, just to get in to some type of routine! Also, I am blessed because I work with a fantastic bunch of people, two of which have been extremely supportive! I'm actually really missing my work buddies and my boss!!!
Isn't Julie amazing! I am praying that one day I will have the need to visit her surgeon in ADL for some nip and tucks (God knows I could already do with a tummy tuck and a boob job!!!) Do you think you will require surgery when you lose your weight? If so, we will have to arrange to make the trips to SA together (hee, hee, hee!!!)
Shan you really sound as though you are following all the rules and Deb I'm sure you are doing just fine. We have to remember ladies that this will be a slow process - the slower the better for our skins elasticity. Please don't be too hard on yourselves!
Cheers to a bright and shiny 09 for all of us!!!
Love, P1xie xo
PS - Pos where are you???

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hi P1xie
Maybe that's why i didn't tell anyone about the op because I didn't want to feel constantly watched for what i eat. The people I work with only know I am on a diet so they tend not buy cakes for morning tea anymore.
Even though we shouldn't feel judged by other people, that's easier said than done.

I will probably feel better after my first fill on Thursday because my hunger has now returned to normal. But I am scared about being over restricted. I am eating too fast atm and getting some discomfort and a couple of minor PBs. I called my doctor's surgery today to ask some more details about fills but the usual nurse wasn't there and I spoke to someone else who wasn't as reassuring as Judy is.
But don't have time to worry about me: husband had a tooth pulled out today and he's feeling miserable. Kids are over tired so am off to put them to bed.
See ya Debra

Re:Any November 08 Banders? Reply to this message
Hi Guys
Haven't been in for a bit but it is my 8 week bandiversary today so I thought I would post my stats.
HW - 146
BW - 142 (17/11/08)
CW - 135
So I have lost 7kgs in 8 weeks since I was banded. I have had one fill on 17/12/08 and next one due on 28/01/09. I notice that my portions and appetite are increasing and weight loss has slowed, so I am looking forward to my fill so things can get moving again.

Cheers

Hi Shan
Sorry I haven't been on here for a while. I dont know of any support groups here. I was done in Wang by Tamaris Hoffman. She was very good. I was banded on the 5th of Nov.I just look on this sight for most of my info and I know a few people who have had it done. I am alittle frustrated as I had my first fill and I didnt get any restriction. I haven't lost anything now for 4 weeks. I saw the dietician and she said that everything is ok and that when I get the nexct fill I should notice a difference. I have lost 8kgs altogether which is better than nothing I suppose.

Hey P1xie and Deb

Thanks for your replies.
P1xie, i didnt realise you had the full on open surgery thing, my god....and i though i had it bad! It would be hard to face the thought of going back to work after such a long time off, i found that i had more routine when i went back to work and it made things much easier. I keep thinking im eating alright but i think im not eating enough veggies and stuff. Its hard to know what to have and to know if your getting the right nutrients and vitamins. I take a Centrum a day, i hope thats enough. I exercise most days of the week for approx 40 minutes to an hour but maybe thats not enough either. I sometimes feel like im wasting the money i spent....my head still not right maybe! Could you imagine getting on the scales and being 100 kgs less than when you started.....thats an incredible feat. Im in awe of anyone that strong!

Thanks for your daily food plans, maybe i should phone the dietician and speak with her. Have my next fill in two weeks time so i might see if i can make an appointment with her too.

Hope you guys have a sensational day

oh and i will check out the other thread

Cheers
Shan

Hi Deb,
Don't be too hard on yourself. It's always hard to resist a good party!!! I think you have to live too - to me it's all about balance! Although, one thing that does slow me down - Deb I don't know how many people you told but I did tell a few, I feel like eyes are on me, if I am at a function (maybe I am just paranoid). I used to be the biggest junk food eater ever - preop I was eating a 200g packet of smith's chips, a family block and a magnum every day. I am staying well clear of those particular foods because I don't want to become 'addicted' again. Although I do have a magnum about once a week! The other thing I tried was the lemon juice in my water. I saw an immediate result instead of swinging between 85-86 kilos. I now swing between 84-85 kilos. Then for some reason or rather I stopped doing that, so this morning I got back on track a little bit - and added the lemon juice. I also take a swag of vitamins as I know my veg intake is not ideal! Have a great week everyone! Love, P1xie xo

Had friends over for BBQ Saturday night and made this great Asian coleslaw: talk about getting your serve of 5 vege for the day! Even hubbie commented today about it. Might have to make more if it means he eats his veges too!!
because all the veges are finely shredded it was easy to swallow.

Hi Shan & P1xie
I have been slacking off big time. Thursday is my first fill so I could eat a horse ATM. I have been stuffing myself with junk food.
I was into a good routine:
Breakfast: porridge or TF shake(m/vitamin+omega 3)
Morning tea:Fruit
Lunch:cruskits with cream cheese, tomato & ham or a tin of tuna
Afternoon tea: yoghurt
Dinner: 1/2 pack steam fresh veges & meat/chicken.fish: enough food to cover an entree plate.
But today went to my niece's birthday party and scoffed donw cheerios, sausage rolls, pastitzi and a big piece of choclate cake!!
I haven't lost any weight for the last 2 weeks but at least haven't put it on YET!
Roll on thursday!
