Just popped in for a regular check to see if anyone visits anymore. At the 11 month mark, I have lost another 2 kg. I've been hovering around 80kg without stressing about losing the last 5 kg.
But with my new job, I have not been eating much during the day and on the go all day. May be I might put some effort into that last 3 kg. It might be nice to firm up the wobbly bits too!
How is everyone else going? |

Well done!! losing over 30kg is an achievement.
Can you ever believe that one year has almost passed?
I see old photos of myself and can't believe that was me.
Now that the weather is warming up I realise I have no summer clothes in size 12.
Our first summer without having to be embarassed about how we look in those skimpier clothes. My upper arms are loose and flappy and I do have bad veins in my legs but somehow those things don't matter. Nobody's body is perfect. Everyone has some part they don't like even those people WE think have perfect bodies.
Can't wait to go shopping.

| Thanks so much, I know I am thrilled. I saw my Dr last week who was very happy for me. He said they usually take fluid out in the first trimester but as I haven't experienced any nausea or vomiting as yet he let me leave it the same for now with the promise I will call immediately if that changes. he said it would still be safe to loose a bit in pregnancy but I am happy just to stay healthy and produce a healthy bub, at least I know the tools to getting more off afterwards. |

Congratulations on the pregnancy! how thrilling!
How much easier will your pregnancy and birth be now that you're 47kg lighter. less risk to you and bub!
Don't worry about your weight now though, get some fill out if you need to during your pregnancy.

Hi,
Thought I would post an update. I have lost 47kgs and have just found out I am pregnant. This band has completley changed my life. I still have more weight to lose but feel like a new person and get so many comments every day from people telling me how great I look its almost embarrasing. My dream of becoming a mother may now finally come true, its only early days so crossing everything that all will go well. Hope everyone else is doing well, would love to hear how you are all doing. |

Hi al
just a monthly update
looks like everyone has disappeared!
I am hovering at 80 kgs, 5kgs off my goal weight but not stressing about it considering all the bad food I've been eating.
Somedays I think I need a little more fill because all I do is look for food. Is that just boredom or am I hungry? If i'm not careful than good healthy food gets stuck, so i don't know if I need anymore restriction. Maybe a little to get rid of the hunger?
I 'm hovering around size 12-14 depending on where I shop. I did try on a size 14 strapless dress in Target the other day and couldn't zip it up around my chest. The boobs are still ample!!!! The dress was probably designed for a twenty year old not a 42 year old mother of two!
Does anyone else find they can now shop in the younger section? I have to check I'm not one of those tragic women who doesn't dress appropriately for their age!
Hope everyone is good out there in yahoo land.
Can anyone else feel there band or has my port moved somewhere it shouldn't be?

Fantastic Shan! Getting under 100 is such a milestone!
I am pretty boring with my food. Especially at work i just bring along the same old things. But I find I focus less on food now. The bad thing though is that I have really gone off cooking so I sometimes don't go to much effort for my family!
I'll see if I've got your email address and send you a copy of Marion's eating plan. She does have a thread here in yahoo and will happily send it to you if you ask. I never really followed it strictly but borrowed some of her ideas.
Maybe it might get you to 100kgs quicker!

Hi Shan
Don't panic about not having breakfast. My doctor said not to worry and eat when I'm hungry. Your tightness will wear off after awhile anyway.
I would have a cup of tea or coffee in the morning and my multivitamin (liquid of course) before I left for work.
I would take a bottle of water and try to drink that on my way to work. (Now that it's cooler I don't do that so much).
Usually about 10.30 - 11, I would feel hungry too. I would have a tuna to go pack or some cruskits with avocado and ham, or thin slices of tomato, salmon philly cheese.
Then about 1pm I'd have a tub of yoghurt.
Maybe about 3-4pm I'd try to have some fruit: rockmelon cut into small pieces, thin slices of peeled apple or a tub of fruit ( peaches or apple puree etc).
Then dinner would be whatever i cook for the family.
These food were usually pretty good when I was at my tightest. Being winter a nice minestrone or other soup is always tasty and unproblematic.
I try to balance my meals/snacks: a serve of dairy, a serve of fruit, veges, protein for lunch and dinner.
I probably don't have enough veges in my diet.
I still find fish can be uncomfortable.
I try to stick to crispy crackers or toast instead of bread. So i avoid sandwiches. I find salad ie lettuce or spinach leaves etc are fine. I add other veges eg tomato, finely chopped carrot etc and protein for a good balanced meal.
I have found I can get through a whole macdonalds chicken salad which makes me think I need a fill but I am enjoying being able to eat almost anything.
Small meals at regular intervals works for me.
Listen to your body, eat within the hours that are comfortable. If you feel like you are supposed to be eating , that is just habit. Have a drink.
Ideally you should aim for 1000 calories per day.
Good luck . Hope that helps

Hi Deb,
geez its quiet in here isnt it. Glad you have found yourself a support group in Sydney, i really wish i could 'come out' so to speak and find out if there is one here in Albury but im just not ready for people to know about my band yet. pic tures are a great way to see the difference hey, that and keeping your old 'fat' clothes....
bit of an update for me, i seem to have lost a kilo.....FINALLY in the week and a half since my fill. My band seems to have settled in a little bit but is still rather tight most of the time. I seem to be having trouble finding things that im comfortable eating. I know im a pain but would any of you guys that ran a tight band give me some idea of weekly, daily intake.....so sorry!!!!
I cant seems to take fluids during the night or early in the morning and by 11ish im pretty hungry because ive always been a breakfast eater, well i think im hungry then. Im just worried now that im not putting valuable nutrients in or perhaps not enough calories and my body is going into starvation mode....who knows hey, think i might try to get into a local dietician here in Albury as i dont seem to be able to get an appointment with Belinda.
Anyway, hope all is well

I think I'm turning this into my own personal blog!!
Wednesday met some fellow Sydney bandits. we had a fantastic dinner. Great to meet these ladies in the flesh ( or what flesh there is left!!) I didn't think to bring a before photo. But everyone pulled out their drivers' license. I didn't recognise the people in those photos. What a transformation!! Sometimes you don't notice the changes in yourself so much as other people do so it's nice to get affirmation from other people. No wonder my husband is always saying where has your bum gone! |

Thanks Shan,
And that's all in the middle of relocating from Brisbane to Sydney!!!
WE had an appointment to pick up the keys for our new apartment on the Saturday morning, when we received the phone call on the Firday night that my mother in law was sick and they didn't think she make it through the night. So we booked a flight for my husband to go back to brisbane early Saturday morning. That left me to drive in unfamiliar Sydney in our 4 week old car to pick up keys. My kids were due to start their new school the following tuesday. My mother in law got through her surgery but the prognosis wasn't good. My husband came back the monday night because he didn't want to miss the kids first day for a brand new school. But he was bside himself: torn between being here for his kids and being with his mother.
So the Wednesday night we all jumped on a plane and headed back to Bris. I came home with the kids Sunday night and my husband stayed on. My mother- in -law passed away the next night. My husband came back to Sydney Tuesday night and then we all returned for the funeral the following Monday.
To top it all off, we almost missed the flight back to Sydney Monday afternooon. But luckily because of the weather and other delays, our Jetstar flight was delayed 2 hours.
So it has been a rollercoaster for the last few weeks.
My husband and I are starting new jobs this week. So i've stressing out about afterschool care and vacation care for the kids. I am only doing some relief work but my husband has promised I can work all these hours without considering the logistics of picking up kids, getting from Sydney's inner west (Leichardt) to the East (bondi) etc. He had us driving into the city (where he's working)then I'd have to take a train then bus to get out there!! Crazy!
In the end I had to put my foot down and tell him to stop making promises we can't keep. our first priority is our kids. i don't have to work all these hours and run all around town.
frustrating

Oh my god Debra, my thoughts and sympathies are with you and your family. What a terrible thing to have to go through. Tell your husband to take the time he needs to heal and worry about all of the other stuff when he is ready!!!
Best wishes

Well, my husband had to cancel his surgery. His mother suddenly got very ill. The doctors found she had advanced lung cancer. After 10 days in hospital she passed away. I am grateful she didn't suffer for long. She used to work in oncology and saw people suffer throught their treatment. The nurses at prince Charles Hospital Palliative care were so supportive.
So his plans for lapband are now on hold until next month. |

It's funny how so many of us seem to be at the same point 6 months down the track.
Maybe it's time to start from basics again.
Pull out the old books and literature that we got from our doctors at the start. Read it all again. And hopefully kickstart the weight loss again.
Now which packing box is that stuff in?

I am right there with you, although I havent been exercising. I eat really badly, there's no wonder I am not losing weight....but I refuse to diet.
It is going to be in there forever...there's no rush...
Ive only lost 12 kg in 6 months...but it's 12kg I might have gained if I didnt have the band... |
