| Hi Seriously, If you fit the criteria on the front page of the APRA form and have the money available in your super, you have as good a chance as any of us I reckon. Rob |

Hi, can anyone give me advise re: the fact that I've just joined a health fund (30 June) but can't wait 12 months to have the surgery. What are the chances of my super fund funding me for the whole lot now rather than the difference if I were to wait for my health cover to kick in in 12 months time? Thanks
Thanks. |

Hi there,
Just wanting to know when I send off my application to APRA do I need to send an actual quote from the lapband dr stating all costs or do I just draw this up myself ??
Thank you in advance for your assistance

Hi light77aqua
My email address is allysmith@fastmail.fm
Thankyou for your help.
On another note, im seeing the physicial that Dr Nottle has requested I go see today - and I was wondering if anyone knows if he might write the letter? Its Dr Frankel.
I got the letter from Dr Nottle - and we have no idea how but its gone missing in my house. His rooms are not at all happy about having to redo it, and I can't show it today which is a HUGE pain. Does anyone have a sample letter if the doctor would like to know what to write? I would appreciate if anyone could email it to me. I have the APRA forms with me. |

I would give APRA a ring and find out whats happening. You can tell them that you are having your of this week and they will fast track you application you will get a answer within 24/48 hours or they may have already approved depending when you put your application in they take about 3 weeks normaly. They will tell you over the phone if its approved then will send you a letter. See if your superfund will accept a fax from them so you can have the money in your account asap as some funds will only accept the original letter which took about 5 days to send
Cheers
Sharon

I applied to Apra and ticked not paid.....I then had my op before it was approved. I had to fund it myself as everything had to be paid before I went into hospital. When I got my approval I got my money back. It just meant I had to come up with the money myself first (borrowed from family).

Hi Jan,
Was it hard to get your super fund to agree to that? I'm with Health Super but I don't know if anyone else has been successful withdrawing their super from them.

Hi Sally,
I funded my banding op last year through APRA and my super fund paid the money directly into my account. I didn't have time to wait for them to post a cheque etc.
Good luck,

Hi
Can anyone help with my query? I applied through Apra with my two drs letters and quotes and ticked that I had not paid. However, my surgery is next week and I will be paying so what happens if I am approved? Do you know what I mean? Do they pay me or the doc?

Sorry my grammar was a bit mixed up in that last post. I do have the name of a doctor who did my APRA letter, even though he didn't do my initial referral to the surgeon. He was happy to do it looking at the surgeon's letter and the first page of the APRA application. His colleague in the practice had referred me at my request, but I couldn't get an appointment with her as easily as with him. They are in Yarraville.

Hi Allygirlmakeup,
Sorry to hear about your run-in with the Nasty Doctor! Grr. I've certainly learned through my journey so far that being educated doesn't prevent you from being a right a@@hole. Don't take it to heart.
Sorry I can't help you with a doctor in your area. Keep bumping this thread - I'm sure someone will be along soon with some ideas for you.
Cheers,

thankyou for your reply i am pleased to hear this, i have always wanted to go down this path but thought it was out of reach due to finacial cost. this has given me hope and my hubby is more than happy to dip into his funds for me to have this done, even more so now as i am 128kgs and only 155cm tall and just told that i have a slight Heart Murmur and he is worried for me.
so i was so happy when i found this messgage board witht he information, i have got the application he is filling it out for me and now i will approach GP and find a surgeon to get the quotes i need to start the journey.
thanks so much |
