Hi there everyone
Im due to be banded August 8th so im really going to have to rush to get it together for early release of my super to cover the gap.
The GP who did my referral (I was previously going to a bulk billing medical clinic) and when I went back for the appt to refer I had the most horrible doctor. I've never met a doctor so nasty in my life. She told me about how her 'skinny' friends dont eat much food, thats why they're not fat - and maybe I should just be like them. She suggested when going out I only ever eat fish.
Anyways, I never want to see that woman again but I need to get two letters. One will be from my surgeon - the other needs to be from a GP. Anyone has a nice doctor in melbournes inner west (footscray, yarraville and surrounds?)
thankyou. :) |

I have directed my friend to APRA, but wanted to know if anyone has had experience with the Local Government Super Funds to get money for the Lap Band operation.
Thanks

Can anyone help me with some information regarding getting early release of Superannuation funds, I am making this inquiry for a friend. My friend who is employed by a local council and her super fund is Local Government Super Fund, they told her they don't pay out money for medical reasons. I have told her to check the website to see what it says about Early release of funds. Just interisted to see if any one has accessed their money from a Local Government Super fund.
Thankyou

There is a thread called APRA it will tell you more about it

| Best Medicine payments for all countries..I Think people making under $80,000 a year no matter what country you live in should be given Health care and good prescription cards..( A Right to live without getting sent to fire furnance.) or if you prefer,The phrase losing your home and the right to have money left over to buy food and a few things for your family..( Gifts to keep younger generations working for something to do, to pass on life.)Keeping life forms in General Relative motion.. Can anyone tell me if I have to also fill out my Super Fund application form to get my funds, even if I have filled out the APRA forms? Do I have to supply evidence of income, etc to my Superfund for verification. I am with First State Super.
Thankyou

Hi dons
I paid my out of pocket expenses with super, my surgeon and anethitist billed Medicare and my health fund directly and I just paid the balance.
With super it is important to do as Leanne said previously that you ask for the NETT amount after tax.

Over the years many people have asked for the total amount they require and neglected to write the words 'AFTER TAX' resulting in them being taxed on the amount they requested and ended up not having enough to cover their operation and other related expenses.
You can reapply for the remaining amount you need but there might not be enough time prior to the operation to receive the full amount and some people have had to re-schedule their operation although some doctors have still stuck to the scheduled operation date knowing the remainder will be paid after the operation. If you have to reschedule the op and organise sick leave, child care etc it can be a very stressful time so it's best to write AFTER TAX and avoid the stress. |

| Don't know if anyone else was confused, but I just found this out. The 21.5% tax comes out automatically when you get the money - you don't have to ask for the amount you want + 21.5%. |

Lost of info in here,
Just remember that you may be taxed on the amount you withdraw so take that into consideration when applying.

There is a lady who posted on Ozband on 11 February who will be having Mr Bloom (Melbourne surgeon) do body contouring i. e. tummy tuck, arm lift and thigh lipo. She has just had APRA approve the release of her superannuation to cover her body contouring surgery. She said she didn't expect it to be approved but it has been.
Pop onto Ozband to ask her any questions if you like, the title of her post is
'Popping in to say Hi and update on my super/body conturing'
Here's the link - remove any spaces from the link that the Yahoo glitch might put in.
