| Hi C, Pizco is a free website that you can do for yourself. Many banded people have one to record their weight loss journey. I have only just started mine....I am not that fantastic with it yet as i am still learning. I discovered pizco when i was reading an old post about a girl who has lost 70kg in about 18months....she is AMAZING. Her name is Kim and she is such an inspiration. |

for unsure
weightloss /exercise /hanging skin/
we loose heaps on optifast ,then on liquids it kinda slows ,then we eat mushies ,
often, after not eating we add , any yummy stuff ,(do not overdo it)
but also do not starve from a few treats ,as you will then crave them,
I also added a bit of weight at that stage and to be honest was devastated
(but it made me realise I had to help the band(tool) work also,
then as I got first 2 fills ,I really hardly lost for about 6 week
I even hardly posted on here as I felt
everyone banded at same time was looseing heaps and I was not,
I also thought ,another diet gone wrong what a waste of money,
I spoke to my dietitian etc
and realized ,I may not have lost weight ,but inch wise lost heaps ,lol
I guess I was at a plataeu weight wise
but ,it made me realise ,this was not going to be an easy way to loose and I had to get off my butt,
exercise a bit and walk a bit,
after the huge quick loss on opti
we have to realise that the weight does not continue dropping at about a kg every other day ,sadly, lol,
we did not put it on overnight either,a regular smaller loss is better for our skin than huge losses,
you may/should only loose slowly, but even 500g loss a week is huge 26kg ,a yr nothing to be sneezed at,
I would hate to carry that in potatoes (I see 500 g as a tub of margarine and 5kg as a bag of potatoes),both fattening lol, ,
,but when you think about it if we lost too quick, our skin would really hang ,mine is going back well ,so much better than I ever expected,
and with minimal exercise my main concern are my boobs but age and weightloss,is against them lol,so I am looking at a lift,Doreen
height 157cm
start 110kg , size 22/24 :(:(:((BMI 44.63)
banded 1/10/07,104 kg
now 68/69kg ,size ,mostly all 10's now :):):)(BMI 27.99
and now size 8 jeans :) |

Hi unsure
I would not know how to change the name either. I am a message board 'virgin'. This is my first, but I am so glad I was told about it. Nice to be able to 'talk' to people in the same situation.
Goodluck

| Hi Charvanben, yeh - i would love to change the name but have absolutely no idea (or attention span) how to do it!! I took the name when i was in one of "those" moments and prior to making this banding decision. I will give it a crack tonight!! thanks for your support. You are right...it is that little voice inside that tells you to have something bad. I have to constantly be strong or it is so easy to fall into that trap. I am in a better frame of mind today - I have had a good day!! great choices and i feel much more at ease with myself. I also spoke to my doctor today and i he told me to hang in there - I really need a fill. And that i have not been having enough protien...which is very true. So i have refocused and had another look at my banding rules and i know i will be ok. Now i am the one rambling!! i have finished work early today and it is such a nice feeling!! Talk soon - take care. :):) |

Unsureinlife.
Change this name - be 'sure in life' as what you think effects how you feel. I was banded one week after you and understand the self doubt. Every so often I am out shopping thinking that I should eat something I realize that I probably could make a wrong choice as it is easier and more available to find than my appropriate mushy recommendations at this stage. I think that what we are going through now is hard, but let's hang in there. It is going to take a while to break those old thinking habits. (I for one am a bit of a 'car' eater. Go for petrol always has meant go for chocolate. Went for petrol yesterday and no chocolate. Yeh - a small celebration for self.) Sorry to ramble, but on holidays...... |

| Hi - How are you Doreen?? I have been offline for a while as my computer has been in for repairs. I have been reading alot of the threads -WOW- there has been alot going on. I have noticed since i have not been on line for a few weeks that I have not been as focused on what i am eating!! Doreen i am getting scared.....I have lost 13kgs and was banded on 31st July... but have not lost or put on any weight in the last 3 weeks. I am feeling like a failure....again. I have been pushing the boundaries and eating too fast and too much...I have to pull my head in!! Help! I am going for my first fill next Monday.....will this help me??? I am not even sure if i am eating because i am hungry....my mind is back to its old tricks.... to see how far i can push things i suppose. Other than thinking too much i am happy i think.....I CAN DO THIS. I have not gone through all of this to fail now. Sorry about this outpouring of thoughts and emotions - I just needed to get it out!! :):):) |

I am having my surgery in 2 weeks time (Dr Hopkins). I am having my blood tests done tomorrow (have to fast for them). These tests are routine with my doc before banding. |

thanks Doreen - it probably is normal to not have any tests. I must admit, I have only had surgery one other time in my life and that was over 20 years ago. and come to think about it, I didn't have any tests done then either.
I also emailed you separately to your email address because I couldn't work out how to post - which I have now done :-) so don't worry about replying to my other email.
Cheers

Thanks everyong for the votes of confidence. I would be lying if I didn't say I was nervous. Yes I did make my mind up quick about the date - but I had already pretty much made my mind up - just needed to see real people in the flesh that had actually been there, done that and survived!!
One thing though - I was surprised I don't need any blood tests or anything before Dr Greenslade decided I was a good candidate. Is that normal - did anyone else need to have bloods or any other tests done before surgery?
Cheers

spin,
nice to meet you anyways ,how long have you been banded, are you doing well,I do not post on many threads ,generally ,stick to a couple ,cannot get in too much trouble that way lol ,a few too many misunderstandings on these boards lately , and the recipes are really good ,many banded people would use them ,sometimes we think we are doing a favour and we post wrong , everyone reckons it is probably best to post on general chat but it goes quick somedays and I do not always read back so I for 1 ,did appreciate it on here ,all the best, Doreen |

G'day Doreen, you are quite right and I thank you for your advice.
I don't post often and was just sharing something that I found for free that would normally cost quite a bit, as the majority of bandits I know eat mountain bread or some other kind of thin bread substitute these days. I hope you find the book useful as I certainly have.
Kind regards, Kristy =) |

ok,just have not seen her before, not that I have been looking lol,
anyways re coffee club:
not sure about the managers ,
but the fruit platters were a bonus ,really was a nice thing to do ,
I think the fact we stayed so long and bought a few drinks each helped ,
anyways we were all impressed by it,
they also were very good as we had a few new wheelchair bound ladies and they set up well to accomodate us all,
and service was very good, the waitress constantly cleaned and asked if we needed anything ,
I also like that we now get an private screened area ,it makes it more comfortable for many and seating is so much easier with a bigger area there, and a big bonus is we are not rushed ,Doreen |
