Gold Coast Bandsters was established in April 2007.We have Business Cards with our group's name on it as well as my name, email address, phone numbers & detailed description of the group. Some Gold Coast surgeons hand these cards out to their patients.Gold Coast Bandsters along with my name & phone number is going to be advertised every week in a Gold Coast newspaper on the community page so this would also cause confusion with your current thread.
I have an agreement with Gold Coast surgeons due to Gold Coast Bandsters being a PRIVATELY owned MEMBERSHIP GROUP not a PUBLIC group as this forum is, that specific threads will not be created in surgeons' names without their prior permission. This is as a result of even though we have a discaimer on the group we're not associated with any surgeon's office, some patients have thought it was & has caused confusion to patients in the past. Private group owners need to seek permission from each specific surgeon to create a thread in a surgeon's name to avoid legal implications from that surgeon. This group here is a PUBLIC not a private group which is why there are doctors threads on it.
Due to my cards being distrubuted widely on the Gold Coast for 2 years it could appear that the Gold Coast Bandsters on your group is one and the same group. There are so many banding groups available now, myself or the moderators on Gold Coast Bandsters do not have time to check what is being written on your thread. If something negative or incorrect was written relating to our local surgeons on your current Gold Coast Bandsters thread it could appear to the surgeons that it's related my group.
Rockbanders is a group I have created for my banded neice, she lives in Rockhampton, we also have Rockbanders' photos on the Gold Coast Bandsters.
I'd really appreciate your help in this matter, would you mind either changing your thread names to Gold Coast & Rockhampton or delete them please.
Thank you.

While I applaud you for creating a group & including local area threads, I am concerned that you have stolen (sorry that sounds harsh but I don't know the legal term) REGISTERED group names & have not had the courtesy to ask the owners or moderators of these groups for permission to use their group names when we are not associated with your group. In fact my own group Gold Coast Bandsters conducted a formal poll in March to see if the members wanted our group to be transferred to an Australian Group, Queensland Group or South East Queensland group or only Gold Coast, the majority of members voted for a Queensland only group as an Australian group would become too complicated with too many threads & after me formally accepting their vote I now see our name is on your Australian group.
I'm sure glad that only myself and the moderators know the name of my new group otherwise you may have stolen that too *giggle*. Your action is the very reason I have deliberately not advertised the group or even informed the members that are transferring there of the new name.
As a result of your new group I will be looking into the cost and legalities of having my groups' names copyrighted & legally registed as non-profit communities/charities so the names can't be stolen again to be used on other groups.
I suggest you either change the REGISTERED group names to to local names or simply the name of the town/area you have made up yourself or delete the group names e.g. Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast etc. By REGISTERED I mean group names that have been registed with YAHOO. I will be contacting Yahoo for their advice as well as my solicitor. Perhaps there is nothing I can do but I will explain in the next post why I am so concerned about this.
In the meantime I'd appreciate it if you'd change the name of Gold Coast Bandsters and Rockbanders to something else unless you intend to try and attempt to beat me to legally registering them. |

Do you by any chance see a dietitian on the Gold Coast? This dietitian told me she knows a guy who was in the process of setting up an Australian wide banding group and she asked me for some suggestions to pass onto him. I'm just wondering if you are one and the same person.
Funny about 'bandingtogether' I'm sure this was the name of the National Lap Band Conference for bandsters that was held in Canberra a few years ago although I could be wrong, it rings a bell with me from somewhere though.

Hi Everyone,
Just letting you know I have set up a new community site for Lap Bander's in Australia. I was banded last week, and decided to use my week off from work to put together a site to bring all the different groups together and to thank all the support groups for their advice during my pre-op stage.
I have put together a forum specifically for your local group, as well as many other forums, which will hopefully be easier to use.
http://www.bandingtogether.com.au/
If you have any suggestions for improvement, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Thanks!

slimming,
my comps been down,
sorry you missed it but hope to meet soon
fills ,just do not make it you cannot eat and enjoy thats my advice is it is better to take a bit longer to lose weight,
then be limited to fluid level,
soups etc ,diet wise ,as then you are never full and will pick at wrong foods as you are unable to eat protein and stay full,
(always eat protein first,
(chew it till ,itis like smooth peanut butter consistancy )
top up with veg and lastly carbs )
remember
during optifast weight drops ,fast, but a lot is fluids ,
then it slows down
after banding
and then ,weight loss , takes off once restricted that may not be for a few months after banding and as with dieting , plateaus happen ,
or all our skin would hang, your body takes time to adjust
or maybe you need to start to take a walk etc to kick it along etc
take care ,Doreen

Doreen
Was so looking forward to the meeting today, but I have woken up with the flu.
I had so many questions.
About fills, when there is too much, why I have not lost any weight in a month. Who else is suffering from fluid retention... and so much more.
I have now lost 20kg, banded on the 16th Dec. Doing ok. But would love to kick this weight off again so I can get under the 100 mark...
So I guess I will have to catch you all at the next meeting. Hope today was another success.
Regards
Amanda |

hey julia tried your Suppa this morning your right it is nice and filling easy to get down so it is going on the menu for the cafe thanks for that. I cheated and made myself a latte then poured it over the bread although I used multigrain and it turned out okay. I used a small ramekin dish.
Anyone else got some ideas. send them through so I can try them and see how easy they are to prepare time wise etc

Hi Tracey, since my last fill, when I finally got restriction, I can't eat bread or bread type products (like hot crossed buns) either! It gets stuck and is painful. Apparently, some people can eat bread if it is toasted, but not me... can't fool my band, it recognises bread in nearly any form! he he he
The only way I can eat bread is if I break it up and mix it in my soup or have it with milk.... you toast it, break it into pieces, put into a bowl and pour 1.5 cups of skinny milk latte (made at home) on it - this is an italian breakfast called "Suppa (pronunced Zoopa) and is what my dad lived on during the depression in italy. It sounds odd, unpleasant i know, but try it, it is really yummy. I just boil milk on the stove, mix in some coffee and sugar to taste then pour it over the broken up toast and mix around. It is really yummy! Maybe you could put it on your menu at the cafe! need to use white bread though, tastes funny with other types.
I also find my band is tighter in the mornings, and tight after having something really cold. It tolerated hot/warm fluids/food better than cold. I have heard other people say same thing about mornings.
good luck with it all,
cheers

| thanks so much and glad to be of service. I had a few more lapbanders in on Sunday and it was great to see them checking me out.LOL I am always happy to talk to anyone about how Im going with my lapband. I had another band adjustment on Thursday 09/04 got another 2.5ml in so now have 6.5ml in total but finding the restriction really hard in the morning. Does everyone get that? Im okay mid morning so I try to have a poached egg for Breaky and then something soft for lunch like a smoothie. Having a lot of trouble with bread multigrain or wholemeal and forget white its like plugging a pipe with the 1st mouthful!!! I am so happy today I went shopping and I fit into a size 16/18 I cant believe it! In 3 months I have gone from a size 26 and weighing 112k now I weigh 95.5k this is the best decision I ever made for me. I think I might stick to soft foods for a few days and hopefully my band will like me again. LOL. send you a email slimmingme soon |

Tracey - what a great cafe you have and thank you for offering band friendly foods, I took my family down for a birthday breakfast and for once I was able to eat a normal breakfast in the right portion size.
I want to thank you for making such a yummy breakfast, and I look forward to eating there again soon.
I would like to join you for a Saturday gathering... just let me know.
PS GREAT COFFEE..... TOO |

Happy Easter Everyone, hope you've all had a good day.
yesterday was weigh day and I was hoping to have another big loss, but was 0.3 which I realise is better than nothing or a gain, but thought it would have been more given how loose my jeans have become.
am going to try and start using my exercise equipment tomorrow and spur things along.
cheers
