Thanks girls it means so much that you have all taken the time to post an answer. I have decided to hold off on the fill. I think I would be scared the whole time we were away if I did and its hard enough now when staring at a menu so I dont want it to be worse when Im away.
Fance I havent been ever able to PB at all even with the help of fingers down the shoot. Dont know why prior to banding I could vomit on command I could just hang my head over the toilet and up it would come...not now I stand there and try but nothing but froth ever comes up or ever has.
Of course you are all right... I will tackle the prob after xmas when I have time to get my head around it. Till then I will just have to fight the hunger |

Zippy...my advice would be hold off on the fill. You sound like you're pretty tight. I also don't PB - au naturale..but do PB with a helping finger or 2. I just can't cope with the pain or food sitting there. I only bring up the smooshed food I ate (sorry TMI) so like a PB with a helping hand.
You don't want to be too tight when you're away (hence me also not getting a fill this week as going away tonight for 2 weeks). I decided better to enjoy the holiday (without totally pigging out)rather then suffer the whole time.
I thought I was pretty tight - but also look for food like you. Will see where I am when I get back..but don't want to overfill either.
I realllllly dont want to be hungry and looking for food anymore...feeling it will never get there... |

I agree with fancy re more fill the harder it is to bring things up. When I only had had a couple of fills I could just hold my head over the sink and stuff would come back. Now I have to work at it but it does come back.

Hi
Saw your message about kids and exercise
My thoughts are
Exercise = Outside , moving and not thinking about food
Therefore - off you go to the nearest park and play with the kids instead of watching them. The biggest benefit of this is that they cant trash the house if they're not there.
You just gotta make do with what you've got !

| Zippypops.........be careful getting a fill to help with the pb's. I've found the more fill I have the harder it is to get something back up. I still can but it seems to get more difficult with each fill I have and takes a lot longer to get up as well. |

| Try this befor you eat take the time to cat all your food into small bites before you start eating. l find it was a constant reminder not to take large bites. l got tired of the discomfort and vomiting trying to rush things it so l could get everything ready for the kids bedtime and school the next day |

yeah it is a biiiig decision... I have an appointment next week because I thought maybe if I am finding it to tough I can go to the clinic down here the week after and get a smidge out..... but I just dont know.
I have had a few uncomfortable experiences since my last fill but have all been because I am hungry and eating too fast. When I eat slowly I can eat anything with no problems... sadly though now that the hunger is back sometimes I forget and chew inefficiently and swallow the mouthful before I realise and then I suffer with discomfort... but am still hungry.
I just wish that I had the ESP to know what to do |

Kirst,
I'm with Linda on this one I think a return to exercise would be a better option than another fill if you are still losing weight antway. Doesn't your gym have a creche?
Hey Trish, it sounds like you are feeling pretty low my friend, I am very sorry to hear that.I'm with you on the up chuck thing, I cannot bring anything back! To fill or not to fill hmmmm....,it's a toughy, maybe go that 1/4 ml and get the number of a goldcoast doctor in your purse just in case you need a bit out on hols.

Hi Kirst My doctor always told me the band is a dietry aid and you have a right to break out just like everyone else. l found if l was getting hungry give it a go with exercise and have small amounts of some naughty things over christmas you can always have adjustment after christmas. If you have one now you may find it to much and unable to eat at all l did that one christmas and ended up in trouble. l couldn't keep water down and ended up dehydrated 2 days before christmas. You need to do the gym thing so you can find a balance between the band and diet.

yeah, I know. I want to get back, but with 3 kids 5 and under, I don't even get time to go to the toilet on my own let alone the gym. Got to stop being lazy and making excuses (is there anyone better for excuses than a fat person trying to avoid exercise?) Next week.
I promise.

Kirst why not go back to the gym and keep the fill level the same. Work it off and enjoy it as well.

Hi everybody. I haven't posted for awhile, but I have been watching everybody's posts. I have a question for you.
With it coming up to the silly season full of christmas parties and stuff, is it better to have a fill and run a tight band and really make sure you don't go silly, or is it better to wait until after christmas and get a fill then? I am finding myself getting hungry more often and I can eat a little bit more than what I was, but compared to pre band that is still a LOT less. I had a look and found that my dinner is less than what my 5 year old has! Bit of an eye opener that. It is not that I'm worried about losing control and pigging out, just I want to be able to enjoy the parties and not worry too much about whether I'm going to have to run to the toilet to pb. But then what if I eat too much and stretch my pouch, or eat too much of the bad food (of which I can eat a lot more). Has any of this made sense? At the moment I am pretty zen about the whole food thing. I am eating exactly what I was pre band, just much less of it. The gym must also think I have died as they haven't seen me in a while, so I haven't been exercising. The weight is coming off slowly (about 1/2kg a week, but I tend to lose 2 kg in a week and then nothing for 3 weeks - weird).
Just interesting to see what everyone thinks.

Zippy I put something on the General thread.
Can I pb? Hmmmmm - well not really, but I am doing better these days than I was in the early stages. I have NEVER been one to upchuck. It's always been much more likely to go through to the other end. I recall someone saying on here that a whole busload of people could have food poisoning, but this person would be the only one not to chuck. Well that's me to a t!
I have found that if I bend over the trough (it's surrounded by bench), with my arms clasped under my boobs, and pressing on the bench - therefore creating some pressure on the stomach - open my mouth and do my best to heave I will gag a couple times first, but eventually I may be able to bring up the mucous. Can't say I've ever seen any food, just the mucous might be the colour of whatever food I ate. It really is just thick liquid.
I don't think my body was built to have things return! Perhaps years of keeping boarding school food down has been a factor in this. LOL
I really only discovered recently that this can sometimes work for me. What a fabulous feeling it is when something either returns, or as more often than not happens, to actually HEAR and feel the blockage clear and the offending item go down. |

hmmm...when i p/b i can feel it sitting in the lower part of my oesophagus and i know instanly its not going down...i get pain and sometimes its after i have already consumed a good part of my meal....meaning i didnt chew some part properly
yes can make you feel really off....but i only need to bend forward slightly and i can get it up...no heaving....more like clearing my throat sort of action.....sometimes i just bring back a little and other times I can fill a good sized bowl....
not nice but over fairly fast....only a few times its gone on for a while if the offending food particle was biger like chicken or similar
im really not much help to you **hugs**

Hi Trish, yes sometimes I froth LOL Keep spitting it out so it doesn't accumulate. Whatever works is fine. Sometimes a cup of tea and sometimes fizzy. It may take a couple of goes with the fizzy but it either comes up or you feel it pass thru.

at the moment its all I have that works... I have actually wondered if I dont have enough fill to pb properly but just enough to cause discomfort.
I was thinking that a touch more might let me hack something up and get rid of it if I need to rather than haveing to deal with it for 2 hours or more this way.
I think I would rather short sharp and spew it up than ongoing discomfort and hoping it will pass.
What do you think... do you think a lil more fill will help me get it up rather than it just sitting there with no hope other than washing it through.
Loosingit can you PB yet...cos you were like me werent you ....I mean you cant hack stuff up can you.
I ate a half an apple last week and an hour later I got a sharp pain in my belly... below the band and I got cold and sweaty and thought OMG Im gonna vomit.
Well it came from my boots a good old fashioned hurl I felt so sick but after 2 good yacks of apple it was over and I felt good.... thats not a PB is it...thats a vomit the old fashioned way isnt it... I think Im confused. |

I can never bring anything solid up...soda type drinks dont help they just seem to compound the problem... the last 2 times it has happened I have found that a hot cup of tea sipped seems to help..
Praps it relaxes the band or disolves the food a bit so it can go through or something.
I wish I could pb up something solid and clear it but for some reason I just hack up air... or in last nights case foam.
Seems like tea is better for me than I thought He he heee |
