hi everyone. thought id pop in again as i havent much, wow lots of chat going on in here. to those having surgery soon goodluck and everyone else keep up the good work. sorry i had mentally noted names to comment on but now my brain has gone blank. im still waiting for the surgeon to come to albany so i can see him though im getting excited and the more reading i do the more i feel this is the right thing. my blood tests have come back and it looks like i may have pcos so im off for an u/s in two wks and to see my dr next wk as she wants to discuss my blood tests. there is a high level of testosterone and sugar is a bit high she said but not too high so thats good i guess. she phoned to tell me and said she thinks getting banded may be the best thing for me. stay well

Thank you Jo2 and Kristy for your help. I have decided to go with HBF top cover as I think in the end it will be better for me. It is only going to cost $80 to $90 a month and I can pay that (just lol )
I am happy with staying Dr W as I have never felt so comfortable with a Dr before.
Take care everyone

Welcome juzfeelgr8! Feet first - jump in - we don't bite. Where are you? Try and come along to a get-together and put some faces to names, it's quite therapeutic I think.
Hi Katrina - it was lovely to meet you too. See you in Busso next time I imagine.
Well done on your 14.1kg Helen2! That's a kilo a week so you're going great guns. I'm afraid I have what a man recently described as "ladies things" this week and I've fallen off the chocolate wagon ... sigh. Still having shakes in the morning though and it feels good to be back in some form of routine.
Bec, I'm looking at HBF too but for down the track when I have my guts cut off (sounds so much more interesting than abdominplasty!). If you go to http://www.hbf.com.au/pdf/Hospital_policy.pdf this will provide you with all the hospital cover details to help you choose the cover that's right for you. Good luck and let us know what you decide.
Hi Jo2 - I can't believe this is the first time you've ever suffered heartburn! You have been a lucky girl. If it's only mild, get yourself something simple like Quickeze, Gaviscon or Mylanta etc. Even TUMS might help and they have no nasties in them - basically just chalk. If it keeps up, get yourself some Zantac - they are magic. And if it gets really bad, move onto Somac. I think Zantac and Somac are both script items only. It's ok to be a bit naughty, but don't do what some of us did and fall into the trap of thinking you'll never be able to eat properly again because that is simply not true. A few people (myself included) went on a bit of a bender before the op - just your mind freaking out!
Well, we have a wedding to go to this afternoon. I have no idea what I'm going to wear so better start hunting through the piles of smaller sizes in the spare room to see what fits - it could be a while!
Have a great day everyone.
Kristy =) |

OMG has it really been so long since I was here....so many new names! Thats what happens when you head in stuck in text books :)
Well I am still struggling with my band and considering getting the sleeve. I know Nicole goes in tommorrow for hers (GOOD LUCK NICOLE!)
I was wondering if anyone has gone from a band to a sleeve around here? I am booked in to see Dr W next month to revist this....again! He gave me three months to consider what I wanted to do and in the meantime he moved and I had to make a new appointment!! URGH
Hope you are all keeping warm :)

Hi Katrina - well done on your 20kg! That is truly awesome and doesn't seem to have taken you long at all. I've only just reached 25kg and have been banded 10 months - but hey, I'm not complaining! I'm looking forward to another GT too. I've got a taste for socialising at the moment - when did that happen to the hermit I wonder?
Best wishes for Friday Nicole, I bet you can't believe it's finally here! We're all really keen to quiz you once it's over and compare yours with our own journeys, so be prepared for 20 question time.
Hey Gem - it will go quicker than you think. Everyone said that to me at the time but I thought it would drag out. Just keep yourself busy and focus on the mini milestones like appointments and seminars - each one completed is a big step closer to the finish line. 25th July might be a possibility for me if our friends are around that weekend to stay with - it's a bit far to drive home plus it's so much nicer with a glass or 7 of your favourite wine - will let you know as soon as I do. Hanging out for another dose of "death by chocolate"! I was only just talking about that today ...
Lovely to see you again this afternoon Jo - you're always so cheery, it's very refreshing. It's good to see you catching up with Helen and Chris as they have both had very different journeys and are mines of information.
I hope everyone is well and happy.
Kristy xo |

Hi South West Slimmers!
It would be fantastic if anyone who is scheduled for surgery soon could take a look at the thread/topic regarding my study on band patients.
Any feedback would be great.
Good luck everyone, I really enjoy reading about the journey.

Hi Katrina,
Still in the s..l..o..w process of appointments at the moment. Got seminar on the 4th July and then dietician on the 9th july. Then see Dr W again in Busso on the 21st July. I am really hoping I will get at least a tentative date then as I will have gone through all the pre-approval stages. I guess it depends on waiting list too... Was told about 6 months. So impatient...just want a date now so got it to focus on and work towards.
waiting waiting waiting.... :-)
ANYWAY.... Hows about a GT at El Gringo's! School is back on the 22nd of July So Hows about the Friday following? Thats the 25th of July!!!!! Whats everyones thoughts?

Hi All,
I'm back from chilly Melbourne...mind you it's not so great here either.
Thanks Kristy for a great GT in Collie!! I'll look forward to catching up with you all at the next one.
I'm so excited as i have just gone over the 20kg mark(loss) my goal was to lose 20 before i went to Figi in August so maybe another 5kg might be achievable before then..
Nicole Good luck for Friday i bet you can hardly sit still now with excitement and nerves. Look forward to hearing from you on the other side, Well done on your 6kg loss you've done well.
Hope everyone else out there is doing well.
Gem any news yet on an op date??

Hi Renae, you have a few hoops to jump through before your surgery date will be set, but all will be fine I'm sure.
Best wishes for Monday. Dr W is lovely.
Oh and don't worry, we ALL obsessed a little bit (or a lot). It was all I could think/talk about for months on end - I must have driven my family crazy with my excitement!
