Thanks Kristy and Jo2 for your wishes. After a very very long wait, just had my first appointment, and it was pretty quick and simple i guess. He's passed on my info to the hospital physician and dietician, so just a waiting game now. Hopefully not too long :o)
Cheers,

Hi Everyone,
Not much news from me - weight is stable, put on 3kgs after I had fill removed and it doesn't want to leave and take its mates with it!!
I'm blaming winter - cold weather makes me less inclined to exercise and more inclined to eat - especially chocolate. I think I need signs up in all the shops with my photo on it telling everyone to stop me buying it!!!

Hey Katrina! I wonder if it's the colder weather because I've actually been feeling very hungry lately - it's not just cravings as I originally thought. If I can't find chocolate, I want anything crunchy like Doritos, Cheetos or as a last resort rice crackers ... I've heard people talk about a band for the head and am really beginning to understand where they are coming from now. SIGH

Hi Bobbie, great to see you back. Sorry you are feeling a bit down about your efforts - we all have those times I believe. I'm going through a chocolate phase right now in fact!
I don't know a lot about the sleeve either, but Nicole had her's done on Friday and I'm keen to hear how she went and also how she progresses compared to banded people's journeys.
You should check out the "from band to sleeve" thread to learn more ... maybe it will be better for you in the long run.

Ash~ Dr W is Dr Werapitiya just we shorten it as its a mouth full lol .. He is one of the drs who preforms lapband surgery but also does the sleeve surgery too .. I am seeing Dr Newman ( who were both in the same place til Dr W moved to the hospital)only because thats who I was refered too, didnt know about Dr W .. I wish I had seen Dr W as all the girls who have seen him tell me how lovely he is and what a great dr he is.. Dr Newman is nice but no real bedside manner...But oh well ..
Hope that answers your question..

Hi Bec,
I have intermediate cover with HBF and had Dr W as my surgeon and my only cost was $140 for the hospital.

Hi Rachel - they definitely say being overweight is a main contributor to PCOS. When I went to the physician prior to receiving a date for my operation, he noticed slightly darker patches of skin in my elbow creases and said that these were signs of diabetes. I asked him if that would affect my chances of having the operation and he said it was all the more reason to have it done! Your PCOS will be the same I imagine. Good luck with it all and keep us up-to-date.
Hi Nathan - that's great news, thank you for taking the time to let us know. We're all really keen to hear of her progress. Make sure she gets lots of rest and looks after herself while she heals ... don't rush!

Hey,
Mum asked me to come on here and tell you guys how she's going after the op.
She had it done friday and it went well, she is now in a normal hospital room and doing great, she said to tell you she was in a bit of pain, but not much.
Anyway, might be on again in a few days to tell of her progress.
Nathan. |
