Well I rang Dr Ws office again today. No difference with Busselton hospital, apparently all connected. My details were sent through about BMI and all that stuff on May 26th! The hospital still has not replied. This is very frustrating. The girl I spoke to said she would bring it to the Drs Attention (yet again) and we shall see what happens from there. I also tried ringing Charles Gairdner but gave up as I got a phone answering machine system and I really wanted to talk to someone about where on the list I sit. Oh well, guess I will have to keep trying with the modifast etc for now.

I wouldnt call us owls just silly.
Im real excited for you cause I know the feelings you are experiencing. when I was waiting for my drs appointment I rang the surgery and the reception girls said it would probably be a 3 month wait, when I saw the dr he booked me in 3 weeks. My head was spinning and I was on a high for the next 3 weeks.
So Keep spinning and enjoy.

Julie,
I never knew till today either until i rang to make my appointment to do pre-op paperwork and was told to my surprise it had been booked in.... at busso hospital.
Hence I think it must be a recent thing.
Anyhow, hope you have some luck.
Me now can start counting the days. 58 to go!

Hi Everyone,
Haven't even looked in here for ages - a bit to catch up on!!!
Looks like I missed out on coffee this morning!! I even walked past there this morning as I decided I would walk along the path at the beach. Part of the 'plan of the week' to shift the rest of the remaining excess kgs!! - I seem to make a new plan every week - just need to stick to it!!! My weight is still the same - not losing but not gaining - which I guess is a good thing but would be nice if I could get to goal before I managed to do what I never have been able to do ever before!! ie maintain my weight at any number for more than a day without gaining!!!LOL
Fantastic news on getting a date Bussogem and even in town, thats great.
Julie I really feel for you - what a frustrating situation to be in - wish I had some helpful suggestions for you.
Moof - big congratulations on your new baby - hope you get the restriction thing sorted.
Hope everyone else is going okay and survived the school holidays - I was very glad to pack my kids off to school this morning - they love school and have nagged all holidays about wanting to go!!

Hey All/Katrina!
Thanks for coffee catchup today Katrina. Spoke with Dr W's rooms this arvo and.........
I have my banding date. 18th Sept. WOW was I surprised as thats only 8 weeks away. Also I am having it done at Busso Hospital. Even more of a shock but a good one as I close to home then. Boy am I getting the gitters now i know it actually going to happen.
Julie, Is it worth asking if you can have it done at Busselton Hospital. I am thinking that the wait list is not too long as I think he only just started doing the proceedure there. I was told 6 months wait for Bunbury but only 8 weeks now as I can have it done in Busselton. Worth looking into maybe! Goodluck
Gem
PS Looking forward to next GT! |

Unfortunately in this town they ignore you in general, did you see the premier brush off a woman in Albany the other day, she had a petition with a LOT of signatures and got ignored, I dont think my problem which unfortunately is considered self imposed would get much help at all. If I was an anorexic Id get sympathy

Hi Julie, I've said it before and I'll say it again - you need to get an MP on board ... people will sit up and pay attention then. I worked for one for a while and was constantly astounded at the sway they have.

Thanks for the replies guys. I find the not knowing with Bunbury hospital the biggest pain. About six weeks ago Dr Ws surgery rang and said to get an update via my GP on my weight and BMI etc. I did that but have since heard nothing. If they are going to say a definite NO I wish they would just let me know. Then I could just concentrate on Charles Gairdner where Im also on the list since last October.
Anyway, today I managed optifast for brekkie and lunch, 2 apples and 2 coffees. I got home tonight and had a light tea. The only slip up was a small cup of chicken noodle soup at about 11am this morning. The problem is that every second day (today was one) I drive 600 ks from Albany up through the wheatbelt and I am up from 5.30am and get home at 6.30pm. Its a long day with lots of stopping to deliver and pick up freight. So it is hard to go without the coffee and I cant afford dizzy spells as a driver.
Im wondering if its worth calling Dr Ws surgery again tomorrow , I keep hoping for some sort of correspondence but so far nothing

Hiya Julie - great to see you back - I often wonder how your plight is progressing.
Like you, I suffered horribly with shakes, dizziness, nausea and headaches etc when launching full on into the Optifast stage. It was definitely affecting my moods and concentration at work, so I opted to use skim/hi-lo milk instead of water and added fruit (usually banana or strawberry) and Benefibre with a teaspoon of coffee and 10ml of colloidal minerals to make the shakes more interesting, sustaining and palatable. I did this for breakfast and lunch with a normal meal for dinner. I found I could get through the day if I had a "real meal" with my family to look forward to at night time.
I still start the day with a shake as they are full of such goodness and sustain me til lunch. I generally have a chicken wrap for lunch now with lots of lettuce for fibre and folate. If I do get peckish in between meals, I try to opt for a muesli bar or low fat rice crackers - the chicken ones are my favourite. Just the chewing alone can make you feel better and like you are not depriving yourself. It does get better, just hang in there and try to think of the bigger picture.
My best advice to you is to go slow. I've been banded 11 months and have lost 25kg - others have lost that same amount seemingly in the blink of an eye, but I'm a big believer in doing what's right for me. Eating and making yummy food was, and still remains something I enjoy on a daily basis - I just appreciate it more now. Do what you need to do to have the weight coming off slowly, then once you have a date and your body has adjusted, launch into Opti with gusto!
Best wishes and keep us up-to-date.
Kristy =()
PS. Loads and loads of water - I drink around 2-3L a day - I used to struggle with 1L! |

Hi Julie,
When i had opti before my op Dr w just told me to replace brekky and lunch and have normal dinner which i did but just tried to reduce the amount at night...during the day he said if i was still hungry i could have a cup of vegies just greens no spud etc or salad so i would have a opti for lunch then a side plate of salad or steamed veg this was great as it filled you up a bit more and then i also had two pieces of fruit one for morning tea and one for arvo. Hope this helps and good luck in getting your surgery date

Hi all
Ive been lurking around these threads for ages, still waiting to hear from one of two hospitals Im listed at for lap band surgery, its been 9 months now and when I first made the decision to get a lap band I was very motivated but since Ive run into problems with one hospital and a long waiting list at the other Ive been up and down weight wise.
I lost a fair amount of weight at first, did a week or so on optifast but gave it up due to the constant hunger I felt and dizzy spells which I could not risk in my job as a driver. Anyway, after a couple of really bad weeks with back and leg problems Im again about to try and get started on a modified optifast to begin with. Optifast for brekkie and lunch and two pieces of fruit during the day, a very light dinner and vitamin supplements as well.
Im pretty scared of the way my health has deteriorated and Im hoping that sometime soon I will either get a definite yes or no from Bunbury hospital, long story that a few in here may have all heard before.
Do any of you guys have any tips that will help me with cravings and hunger pangs, Im afraid I just seem to crack every time I try to do optifast. Im sure Id get through the optifast only if I had a date or something for lap band, but while Im in limbo so to speak I just cant get motivated. Im starting again with the opitifast

Hi Guys
I've been around these boards for nearly three years now and my advice about our negative intruder is to ignore them...they usually write these such posts to get a reaction from us. They'll get board when they don't get a response.
Hope everyone is doing well...hopefully I'll make it to the next catch up!
Love

| The Beautiful thing is that we are the LUCKY ones as we can be helped by doctors and the fantastic network of beautiful people to chat to on here...Unfortunatley for Mingara1 theres nothing much they could do for you as i could imagine it's pretty hard to remove your head from your A S S so you'll just have to keep smelling your own S H I T forever...Now look who's Laughing HA HA HA |
