"your post here looks more like 1400kj instead of cals"
uhh quite possibly. lol. I never really counted calories before, i probably really wouldnt have a clue what im eating. counting calories isnt something i want to do for the rest of my life (or i wouldnt have gotten the band).
but Ill check out that website to keep a tab on things - ta!

Lx, my band was suspected slipped and was extremely tight for about a month - including the days i recorded here, which is why i wasnt eating much - it wasnt a normal thing for me.
the eating less because of tightness just slowed the weightloss further for a couple of weeks i guess.
got to the point where i couldnt keep water down (last week) and i had some fill out and surgeon put me on some medication atm to settle my stomach (it was just inflammed and getting more and more swollen - not slipped), so im eating better again now.
Aside from that few weeks im generally eating 1100-1400 cals (i think).... and losing 1/4 to 1/2 a kilo a week.
i dont mind if its slow as long as it keeps coming off - ill still have a bit of a whinge every now and then though.

me211167 -
Don't compare yourself to others! really! What are you eating? Personally - I don't think it's healthy or normal to be able to eat cuppa soups and crackers - apparently the person who eats that has an issue with the band.
You and your Dr should decide how much fill you need... don't torture yourself! Seriously...

Thanks D - I am so, so happy with my decision to have this done! I was so scared initially reading about what people eat - and things they experience - but I think that I have been really sensible and also lucky :)
RasberrySwirrrl - Lilly... I just copied a post of yours...
2 x cuppa soup
tablespoon wasabi peas (yummmmmm)
3 x cracker with cheese
1 x hot chocolate
Im eating around 1400 calories a day. Reducing or increasing this has made no difference to the amount of weight im losing. Im also taking vitamins.
very frustrating!
does anyone have a web page where you can input your details and it tells you how many calories minimum you need to eat to lose maximum weight??
~ Lilly
How are you working out your calories!?!? I looked over a few of your posts and there is absolutely no way you're eating 1400 calories a day!? Unless the chocolate is super-high-cals...
I am not having a dig at you... but your post here looks more like 1400kj instead of cals!!
If you havent already - look at calorieking.com.au - it's free... and if you wanna keep a check on your cals - it's great.

L,
Your meals today sound lovely.
We are all different.
I have been at my goal weight for more than 2 years now.
Some days I eat like a horse..... most days I eat 5 small meals........... but I never live on air, alone!
I am hungry all day, every day. I have found that the 5 small feeds work well for me. My band has never stopped me wanting ot eat, I seem to always have room to try this or that....... I can just have very small quantities of it, so pretty much I would be classed as a grazer. So 5 snacks a day stops me eating rubbish in between, MOST DAYS lol.
I don't count calories. I try not to eat rubbish, if I do, I exercise more that day. Walking has become my best friend.
All the best, and i wish I could eat that lovely bread you mention, yummo!!

My name is george actoodoodoo,
i have what are known as pedophilic tendencies, i am ashamed but tat the same time it is inate and i can not stop these thoughts. today i was watching the childeren across the road in school as i do almost every day and i got the sudden urge to be inside this particular little boy, he would have been 5-7 years old but he was blonde blue eyed and helpless i had to fight with myself to to run over and take him righ there and then, i was jailed in 1995 for 3 counts of child molestation and if i offend again i will go to prison for a very long time
what should i do? |

Oh my... didn't realise that I had caused such a broo-ha-ha when I left last time ;) LOL!
LILLY - I have got 5mls in a 10mL band - I eat probably about 1000-1300 calories in a day. I don't have any issues with any foods, I am satisfied after a cup or so of food.. I am not hugry between meals... and I have never had any pain or discomfort.
Banded on the 1st of April - and I have lost 20.9kg - which i am really, really happy with.
Personally... I could not deal with being one of the people who eat 2 tablespoons of food and feel full... this band, in my opinion - has been EXACTLY what I have needed to bring my meal portions down - but still give me the opportunity to LIVE my life...
I am thrilled and would not have it any other way...
I still have appointments every 6 weeks for a "check-up"
Todays eats...
Breakfast - Skinny Cappuccino and later, a fruit and nut bar
Lunch - 1 slice capeseed loaf with onion, tomato, mayo, pickle relish and a vegie delights "not burger"
Snack - Nudie juice and a handful of sweet chilli grainwaves
Dinner - 1/4 c rice with a couple of pieces of Doncatsu and salad (hubby and I shared 1 meal @ the markets)
For the people that are newly banded... you totally have a choice about how you choose to take this journey - it doesn't have to be a "life sentence" and you CAN eat... my advice is to realise that this is your individual journey and you can never really compare someone elses to how yours is gonna be... and don't torture yourself :)

Hi all,
Has anyone heard of www.bandbuddies.com. They have multivitamins (chewable! I gave up on taking vitamin years ago because the big tablets were just too hard to get down) and food specific for patients who have had the band.

Banded 31/7, first fill 26/8, due for a second fill on Monday.
B/fast - 1 Centrum 50+ (split in half before taking), 3 Fish oil capsules, 1 weetbix, 1tbsp sunflower seeds, 1/2 tbsp sultanas, enough milk to soften (but not mushy).
Lunch: 2 slices roast pork, a tble spoon gravy, roasted pumpkin, carrot, potato, steamed zuccini, cauliflower (this was all mixed and about 2/3 cup all together).
Dinner: Scrambled eggs (2) with small amount of potato and carrot. 3 fish oil capsules.
later on... hungry, so had a thin slice of rye bread (I make my own, so can slice as thin or thick as I want, would have been about 1/2 slice of normal bread in volume), 1 slice cheese. |

Tanya,
I should probably mention (as I have previously so as not to confuse anyone), that I have a gastric bypass not a band. Which means I can eat larger portions and a wider variety of foods.
I have lost 39.5kg since March and very pleased so far with the results.

I am going back to doing my food diary for a while as the past 10 days have been a bit worrying for me... my lovely tight restriction had totally disappeared and i was eating everything like bread, toast, buns, meat even a meat pie etc etc whilst i did enjoy it because i hadnt eaten many of these things in well over a year i have the dreaded fear of gaining weight...but i had such hunger...which was so odd but anyway im waffling
so i toddled off to the doc on Monday and had point two of a mil popped in...plus he checked i still had all fill in the band n no leakage cause of my anxiety rofl and pleased to say so far so good and hunger has again gone and i feel less panicky iykwim
brekkie----coffee
snack----coffee
lunch----half weetbix, dessertspoon allbran, skim milk
snack----coffee, 2 vitawheet, smear of the new vegemite spread
dinner----2 vitawheet, mashed egg, 2 cruskits with lemon spread
snack----Atkins caramel bar
just taking it slowly for a few days as havent had a fill for 6 mths but no problems except with the first bite of weetbix at lunch so i stopped for a while till it settled
i think the only reason i didnt gain any weight during my hunger-period of the 10 days was only due to the fact i do a minimum of 15,000 steps daily

Jen....... flashback! I used to buy ovalteenies from tuckshop at school.... and I'm 34 now! Wow, didn't know you could still get them...... but I did see a sachet of TANG at Woollies the other day and chuckled, so maybe I need to look harder for my 80's favourites lol.
