Well I have discovered how a break in routine can be an enemy to the lapband. I have been sick a few weeks and consequently let my cooking slide and my dishes, too! lol
I'm feeling nauseated today and don't want much food.
Breakfast - 10 rice crackers
Lunch - one mini can of spaghetti (about 2/3 cup)
Dinner - will have some veggies

Hey... no worries Moira, that is what we are here for..to support and offer a bit of help...I hope that it works out for you...We all hit plateaus at times but don't let it dishearten you...Change your food routine and try more protein and if you like;..try eating it before your salad or veg and it will fill you quicker; and don't forget to eat slowly and chew chew chew and stop at your cupful...Col

Thanks for the mock chicken recipe as well.I forgot about that one...when I was a lot younger...30... I played lawn bowls for a couple of years and the bowls ladies...they were fantastic and treated me ...being about 30 years younger than them...like a long lost son ..the old darlings..and they would have their morning teas and all bring the homemade cakes and tarts and scones...god it was good...they would fill up these plates of all this stuff and pile it up for me.Well I digress...they made the mock chicken on sandwiches and I have never tried it since but I remember that it was yummmmmmy so I will give that a shot too...thanks.....Col

Col the old fashioned mock chicken spread is good too for a change
soften a diced onion in a teaspoon of butter
add diced tomatoes, lots of cracked black pepper
simmer for a little while then add some grated cheese, chopped parsley, a pinch of mixed herbs, approx 2 slices of bread made into breadcrumbs and a whole egg and stir till it all comes together into a thick paste
let it get cold and into a container
keeps well and although it looks a bit yuk it is very tasty and healthy
can add diced bacon or ham or anything really

hi Col....well i just sort of made it up but it seems to work ok
i dice some chicken and then put it in te blender
then i add some tartare sauce or mayo, a teaspoon of cheese spread and even a bit of coleslaw and then just blitz
it comes together like a paste but has a lovely chicken flavour and of course being homemade at least you lnow what is in it
i usually weigh out all the bits but im a bit pedantic like that rofl
i have also tried it with corn beef and a similar mix and add some mustard or chutney
im not keen on the meat pastes you buy and i do often have difficulty eating chicken so this way its good and makes a great spread for cruskits
just play around with the quantities and even throw in other bits like a few gerkins etc

Well done colleen, it is a good feeling, I agree, to actually think na couldn't or don't even want to eat that!
I had my last fill removed because of bad reflux at night. It isn't totally fixed but is improving, (the reflux that is. Is there any one else out there who has had to take nexium 40? was wondering how long you needed to take it for? And is there any side effects from long term useage?
I have found i am more hungrier since the last eeeeeeeeee was removed and have to be strict with my self, but often after a while i think to myself "see you didn't need that did you", because i am no longer feeling hungry. |

yes Moira i have read your menu a few times too
and been giving it a bit of thought too
Col is right about the mushie type foods and maybe a big high in sugar
the cruskits are good with the tuna, salmon, homemade chicken paste or finely diced chicken if you can manage it
try some baked beans for brekkie instead of the special K, or eggs much higher in protein and more filling
or if a cereal eater then switch to weetbix, porridge, healthy homemade muslei
keep the yoghurt and ww fruit, banana's for a snack or a treat
how about some fish for main meal...even the frozen crumbed fillets....they are ok and nice
anyway they are just a few thoughts

Hi Moira,,,you seem to be eating a lot of sloppy foods and not much protein.....the protein may kick start the weight loss again.Give the yoghurt, banana, fruit salad the flick.Try a couple of cruskits with tinned fish or some sliced chicken for lunch...something with a bit of holding power without the runny type food......other than the potassium in the banana they are just sugar....yoghurt is fine but runny so will go straight through with sugary calories...tinned fruit salad ?better off just having an apple and maybe a chunk of cheddar or tasty cheese....just a thought.....Col

What Pyretta said about waiting to see if it settles....completely true....my last fill was .25 and for the first few days I thought it was great..not much more restriction and felt right, but after another week it tightened and was bad and I had to have the .1ml out...strange and fickle things at times...Col

Hi Colleen...I have a 14 ml band with 9.15ml in after they took out .1...such a small amount to remove and made such a huge difference...from PBing every meal and reflux continually..now perfect.I thought that I had the right restriction before but now it is unreal.Having said that...no 2 fill amounts are the same for us so we all have to find our own sweet spot...took me 10 months....7 fills....all the best....Col
