Lilly your calories are very low and you will find it hard to lose weight at such a low intake. As hard as it is to get our heads round it sometimes less is not more.
I find if my cals drop too low I go into a holding pattern till I lift them up again. Even if I do this just one day in the week it seems to get the scales moving again.
I have lost 65 kilos this way and went through the same stage as you are describing till I worked it out and listened to other more seasoned bandits.
Try lifting the intake with some sort of low fat protein even if its adding a protein drink to your afternoon. |

brekky - 1 optifast (havent had vitamins for ages)
Snack - 5 squares chocolate
lunch - bowl chinese corn soup & 1 small spring roll
dinner - bowl of lettuce and dressing
I havent lost any weight at all in 2 months (havent gained either). im at my sweetspot and cant have any more fill because it would be too tight again.
I think ive lost all the weight im going to lose from just having the band itself (30kgs). Now I actually have to start trying to lose some myself and do some dieting and exercise! (another 20kg to go) (i havent dieted or exercised at all yet - what i ate above is pretty standard, I love lettuce and often eat it alone without being on a diet).

Qui,
Your diet looks stellar. I have eaten similarly throughout my banding. The only difference was that my lunches were initially tuna in half a pita bread with grated carrot, cucumber. And the eventually I ate a small pot of stew (200 gms in a little babyfood jar). I have maintained this practice of stew for lunch up until now.
I ate some salmon last night and am feeling 'back to normal' again after my gastro scare last weekend. MY stomach was soooooooo inflamed and I was starting to get paranoid about a slippage. I had my bloodwork done yesterday and find results on Monday. I honestly think I just needed a good feed!!
Keep it up, Qui.

| I'm with you, Qui - there are things I am prepared to forfeit, but there's no way I'm going to subject myself to skim milk for the rest of my life. I use the light stuff, not full cream. As I've always said (in relation to skim milk) - if I want water, I'll get it from the tap! And yes, I know one can get used to it. I just don't want to. :-) |

Hi Qui, good question about the protein. My mother may know - she studied nutrition.
I've been eating precious little since being sick. It has seen me lose 2 kg, so I'm not complaining. Feeling pretty "off" though. Tired, pale, washed out. Bloodwork at IMVS might reveal all...lol?
YESTERDAY (at a training conference all day)
=========
Breakfast - 1 weetbik with skim milk
Snack - 1/8 of a banana muphin, tiny bit of carrot cake
Lunch - 1/4 of a egg salad sandwich
Snack - 1/4 of a cheese/salad sandwich
Dinner - 1 macaroon (picked up at truck stop on 380km drive home)
Was sick all night. Think the macaroon 'stuck' a little.
TODAY
=====
Breakfast - nil
Snack - 3 teaspoons of peanut butter..mmm
Lunch - 1 Top Hat brand fish cake
Just drinking lots of water and cups of tea. Hanging out for some yoghurt or protein. Will try some of partners lean mince stew tonight.

Hello Everyone,
How do you make sure you get your required amount of protein per day? I read somewhere that we need 0.8g per kg of bodyweight per day, which for me would be today approx 70g. The fish I have for dinner is only about 20g, and the breakfast and lunch do not make up the shortfall. Any hints on how to be covered.

Cat, Yes I know I had too much fruit that day, but normally I don;t have more than one piece. I was just starving for some reason, and the oranges were really nice :)
Yesterday I had my 3rd fill, and today I have had the following:-
B/Fast: 1 Centrum 50+ broken in half, plus 3 fish oil capsules, 1 weetbix with a little milk.
Lunch: we had our quarterly meeting at work today, and would you believe it, they had ordered pizza. Gee, what to do... I have only told one person at work, and did not want to make a fuss. So I started on a medium slice of pizza, making sure I chewed properly, and slowly I got through it. At the end, I had to go out and drink a glass of water, as I am sure the bread part was just sitting there, the water made it go down, thank goodness. I had no pain, but I could just feel it sitting there. Later on I had a small portion of fresh fruit salad, which was really nice and gave me no problems.
Late afternoon, a small tub of yoghurt.
Evening: Hubby and I were out shopping, so we did not cook when we got home. Hubby had some McD on the way, and I had an Optifast shake when I got home. Feeling quite full still, so that is it for me for today. |
