Hi Deb,
I wait 45 minutes after drinking before eating. It is because our stoma (pouch) takes some time to drain. By eating too quickly after drinking, we overload the pouch. Also, liquid mixed with the small amount of food we consume can turn our food into a "slurry". This means that the food will pass more quickly through the stoma and therefore less nutrients will be absorbed into our body as it passes rapidly through our intestinal tract. But mainly, it is due to stretching the band. If you look at how non-banded people eat and also drink hug glasses of liquid, you can imagine the size of their stomach. We need to preserve our little stomas, after all that's why we had the surgery.
I do find this rule very hard to stick to, particularly in summer when I am really thirsty.
All the best,
Cat |

Hi Leanne,
Yes I've come on here again after a long stint off this thread. I'm feeling like I'm eating more, too. Still losing, though, but it is a tad concerning to be eating more and feeling less guilty.
TODAY
=====
Breakfast - 2 weetbix, pura 99% ff milk
Snack - 1 coffee with pura 99% ff milk
Lunch - 1 200 ml Bulla drinking yoghurt (had a low blood sugar attack at the supermarket)
Snack - 1 Trail Bar (nut museli bar), 2 ryvetas with avocado on top
Dinner - Seafood with low fat creamy sauce (see Recipes thread)
Dessert - 1 Berri "Quench" icy treat
I've got another fill appointment in 6 weeks but this latest fill has given me the same "fickle band" issues that many of you others have. One day - FINE. Next day - unable to eat. I can't take my vitamins anymore and have resorted to crushing them. Stews and seafood are still fine. Mainly it is crackers and dryer stuff that causes issues.
Pre-band 130 kg
DOB - 6 Jan, 2009 - 119 kg
Currently - 82.5 kg

Morning all,
I was banded on the first of June and all is good and getting used to my band. Just a quick question, I have read and been told not to drink with meals. I think the rule is nothing to drink 15 mins before, nothing during and wait till 1 hour after food. Can someone pls explain why?
Thanks so much.

Geez - everyone must have gone into hibernation for winter! Really strange for this thread to be so far back.
Now that I've started, I'd better list my food for the day:
B - linseed flakes with milk (drinkable)
S - glass orange juice
L - cauliflower soup, 1/2 toasted m u f f in with homemade hommus (odd combination, but you go with what's in the fridge)
D - zucchini slice, vege stew (mushrooms, tomato, capsicum, onion)
3 litres water
few cups black tea, 2 cups coffee
might indulge in a choc biscuit with a cuppa |

Haha Beez - if only id seen your post before i embarked on today's food journey!!! OOPS! There's always tomorrow. I'm really tired between work and uni exams and the body is just craving sheet!
B - 2 strawberries and 1/2 a grilled chicken toastie
S - Diet jelly
L ??? - 2 kitkats (400 CALS!)
D - 1 cup of spag
I'm keeping the cals fairly low - but i could make better nutritional choices. Wondering whether im so tired because im not getting enough nutrients in. Will have to read some inspiring literature to get back on the healthy wagon and plan my meals.

| Good to see you are foregoing the chocolates too fairy, in the long term its best to try and keep them as a weekly treat, i know i sound like i'm preaching but we all need to change those habits that put us in this position in the first place. |

Hey Leanne,
Long time no type. I've been thinking of you lately. I've had my 3rd fill and feeling quite tight now. I've got approx 5.5-6.5 ml in my band. I am thinking this is what you might feel like? I have a strange feeling that someone has their hands around my oesophegus. I eat 1/2 - 2/3 a cup of food and I feel like I've had 10 large plates! It is brilliant. I have another appointment in 8 weeks. I'm about to start hitting the gym now. Currently 87kg. I will post a new photo on my profile pic.

Breakfast - none
Snack - 1 tub of forme yog
Lunch - 2/3 cup of pureed brocolli, zucchini, 99% ff bacon soup
