Erina, great news. Good on you, only 2kg was great work on your part. And sounds like you will get that restriction much quicker this time around. I recall you having a 14ml band 1st time around, maybe they have gone for a 10ml this time cause your insides would have shrunk too.
It was funny, this morning I thought, gee, Erina must be getting close to having her fill, and I jumped on and here you were.
Terri, I'm still leaking, but it is definitely slowing down. Saw the surgeon on Tuesday, and he is happy with how it is going. Still mucking around with changing dressings, and I am so over that. And I am sick of wearing the girdle thingy, but its holding dressings in place. But otherwise, very happy. The rest of the scar is still taped up, but I see bits when they redress it, and its just a fine line which should fade nicely. And I'm getting around in size 10 jeans with a flat stomach, which I have never had in my life, not even as a little kid. They said what they chopped off would not reflect on the scales, but they chopped 3.5, and I've lost 3kg, so pretty happy there too. And I'm maintaining it despite having 1ml of fill out before the op, so eating very comfortably. So good all round, just need to stop leaking. Hope you are looking after yourself. Are you on medication, or receiving treatment?
Louise, sorry I can't make it, working that day, and its too far to skip out for a long lunch. Sorry.
Cheers

Hey Erina,
Glad all went well today, and I am sure you will be soon
be right back on track.......good news about not having to
wait so long this time for restriction. Funny thing this
banding isn't it, every single band seems to have a mind of its own.
I'm ok, struggling a bit with deprssion at the moment,
but other than that I'm ok. Weight wise, I am probably the
same as last time you saw me.
Keep up the good work you! xx |

Hi Terri,
Well I gained about 5kg in the blink of an eye and a few weeks ago got my ..... into gear and went back on the weight watchers so at the end of the day I'm 2kg heavier than before the slip. It doesn't sound like much, I know, but it is a slippery slope for me and 2 kg becomes 20kg very very quickly. Plus I just had that feeling of being out of control with food again and just wanting to eat everything in sight.
So I saw Dr Renato today, and I must say he was lovely. I was pitching for 5mls in the band and negotiated at 4!!! But strangely enough 4mls wouldn't go down and I thought I was going to bring it back up. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? It took months and months to feel anything with the old band. So he took 1ml out and things were comfortable again. So he seems to think the band is in a different position and checked to see that I did in fact have a large band in. He thinks, judging by today, that it may only take a couple of fills to get things right this time. God knows I need some luck on that front or I could be the size of a whale by christmas.
So thats my news!!!! Hope all is well for you!

Hi Terri,
I could say Wendys shoulder pain has moved to my butt but Wendy would yell at me if I said that.
Seriously it seems to have subsided but seems also to be an indicator of eating that one mouthful too much.
On the cruise on the weekend, YES.
Do you use your Yahoo adress?

Hi Terri
Great to hear from you! How are you going?
Me - still leaking. In fact I sprung another little leak this morning in a different spot. Said to hubby that its a shame we don't have a fancy dress party to go to, I could go as a soaker hose!
On the plus side I am off what I term my Michael Jackson painkillers (didn't appreciate finding out I was on the same ones has him). Feeling ok today, so am about to attempt driving for the first time. Need to get to the shops and get some new jeans for work, as mine are threatening to fall off. Hmmm, size 10 or size 8????
Garry and Wendy would be off on their cruise by now wouldn't they? Lucky things, hope they have a good time.
Cheers

Hi Erina,
Just remember how well you have done, this is just a little
hiccup although a very frustrating one. We all lose track
when we have busy social times and let's face it we all have to live, can't be to obsessed with what goes in the gob. Won't be long until you are back in control, you must
be very proud of yourself, keep up the good work sweetie
and let yourself heal before stressing too much. xoxoxox
Sue,
Have they plugged your leak yet? Hope so, how are you
feeling, like a new woman I bet, you look incredible in
your photo on facebook. Well done champ!!! xx
Shan,
Sounds like things are finally kicking in for you too,
Good luck sweetie. xx
Wendy,
How is all your shoulder pain? Did they work out what was causing it????? Love to Gazza xx |

Hi Shan
My band was only tight for a short period of time, so I'm not a great help, but during that time I could not get anyting solid down for breakfast, not even soggy weetbix. I used to make a banana smoothie or skinny hot chocolate, and take it to work with me in a thermos style cup, and sip it over 2 hours.
Lunch was often cruskits or premium crackers, with the flavoured lite philly cheese, or some hard boiled egg mashed with a bit of mayo, or maybe a banana. For a snack I would have a protein bar.
By dinner I had usually loosened up a bit and could manage a little of what the family were eating, but if I was not up to it I would usually resort to a scrambled egg, sometimes with 1/4 packet of cooked 2 minute noodles mixed in, or some veggies, peas/carrots etc. As Judy said, soup was often a good option too. I could sometimes manage a bit of toast or 1/2 a toasted cheese sandwich with the soup, if it was dipped in and softened.
As Erina said, make an effort to keep up the protein.
Cheers

Hi Shan,
Just keep doing what you are doing. I wouldn't worry too much as lkong as your portions are down and the weight is slowly coming off. You know yourself if you are eating foods that are fueling your body (high nutrient, low calorie verus high calorie low nutrient foods) The only thing I would reccomend is you have a protein and whole grain at each meal to keep your energy up. And of course dont forget your multivitamin.
I've had family staying this week and have not bothered to watch my food, I've gained so much in a short time it is literally scary. The nurses said my body would want to gain but..... well - it's not good. And I still have 2 weeks until my fill. Oh well, let's hope the fill take the edge off the hunger. I truly forgot what it was like to be so hungry all of the time.
Keep plodding along everyone.

Hi Shan,
I'll give you a run down of a typical day for me, but by doing so I am probably exposing myself to people who will tut tut my nutrient/vitamin intake.
anyway here goes -
breakfast - one weekbix with milk, heated in microwave. I used to be able to take cold milk but since last fill that doesnt work. When I am at work I drink many half cups of coffee, always too busy to finish the drink. Lunch either soup or tub of yoghurt. I work in a very busy environment and we dont have a lunch break as such. Eat when we can but answer phones, attend the front desk during this time too. I have learnt there is no way I can sit and eat and concentrate on chewing when at work. Dinner - often pasta, the pre-packaged bacon, tomatoe small snack size. Dinner I occasionally will also have a shepherds pie, the mince is the only red meat I can get down. I cant eat fresh fruit other than bananas / kiwifruit/watermelon. Fruit I often pop in the microwave to soften the bananas. Other fruit I have either microwave to soften or else stewed. Sometimes I can get fish minus the batter down but generally I find it not worth the effort. Other nights I might go for quiche minus the pastry, home made pastie minus the pastry. These I cook in the pastry to keep the fillings moist still. On a hectic day when I get home from work around 9pm or later I will resort to soup as i am just too tired to think of something else and I know it wont get stuck. Not much fun as you probably have learnt to come home from a busy day, spend time cooking, put one spoon in your mouth and find it just wont go down. Days I am not working I often forget to eat lunch but will more often than not be out with friends so my treat is an ice coffee which is more than a meal in itself. My surgeon is different from a lot of them, his policy is if I am not hungry then dont eat. If I want to treat myself I will sometimes have desert, usually a custard and fruit or fruit and yoghurt.
Hope this helps. |

Hi everyone,
bit of an update for me, i seem to have lost a kilo.....FINALLY in the week and a half since my fill. My band seems to have settled in a little bit but is still rather tight most of the time. I seem to be having trouble finding things that im comfortable eating. I know im a pain but would any of you guys that ran a tight band give me some idea of weekly, daily intake.....so sorry!!!!
I cant seems to take fluids during the night or early in the morning and by 11ish im pretty hungry because ive always been a breakfast eater, well i think im hungry then. Im just worried now that im not putting valuable nutrients in or perhaps not enough calories and my body is going into starvation mode....who knows hey, think i might try to get into a local dietician here in Albury as i dont seem to be able to get an appointment with Belinda.
Sue, hope all goes well for you at the Drs and you get that 'leak' sorted soon.
Erina, how are you gong chickee, hope all is well xoxo
Garry and Wendy, hope your both well and still going strong...hows the shoulder?
Hope everyone else is great
