Morning all,

Kelly I was banded 10 Dec 2006, in that time up until a couple of months ago I had lost 33kgs. So that has been 21 months. The band will help you lose up to 60% of your excess weight. You will probably need to do some exercise and be mindful of what you eat. If you have lost 20kgs in weeks, that's an awesome effort. Slower is better. Keep up your great work and you will find it will keep coming off. Slow and steady wins the race..... :)

J So your sister is due on the 20th and with my prediction the 22nd. That's a great day because that's when my staples come out.... he he he he..... Is she having the baby at Knox? If so if she could manage a delivery between 11.15am and 12.30 I could come and visit after I have my staples out..... just have a word to her and see what she can arrange...... he he he he he ... I love babies. :)

Netball today, I'm going to attempt the walk to the netball courts. It's only about 20mins. I should make it. I'm thinking maybe my back needs more exercise to get better. I'll let you know by the end of the day if that worked.....

It's going to be hot today, so slip, slop, slap and get out and enjoy the day.

Love whatever your doing, keep smiling.

Oh, and with all that, I still didn't answer Kelly's question about an eating plan...

As far as now day 1 breakfast...day 1 lunch, no, I don't think there is, as that sort of goes back to being on a diet that would not work. Well, not for me anyway.

Now that I finally have some restriction happening, I am finding that I am eating less, and it is starting to come off again. That and getting back on the treadmill and Wii Fit. Oh, and having the flu helped too, although I don't recommend it.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi All,

Phillipa,
I am glad all went okay with your surgery, and I am sure Craig will do anything you ever ask of him. You are both wonderful.

Shelly,
My sister is due on the 20th, so 2 days late will be the 22nd. She has been all over the Internet researching ways to make the baby come out...I think she is a little over being pregnant, and today when she saw her doc, he said he will book her in to be induced on the 28th. She is like no possible way is this baby staying in me that long!

Kelly,
Loosing 20kg's is absolutely fantastic. I am only just bordering on 20kgs lost myself at the moment, and I was done on May 26th, and I still have 40 - 50 kg's to go!

I know how frustrating it can be when it comes off slowly, but it is better for you and your health for it to come off slowly, and your body adjusts better and blah blah blah...I know that is what it sounds like, but last time I was having a whinge about it, Cheryl said to me just think about how many other diets you have been on where you lost 16 kg's (I had only lost 16 kg's for this particular whinge), and kept it off, never to return, or how many times you have even stuck to a diet long enough to loose 16 kg's. That shut me up right there, cause I knew how true it was, and she made me feel better. I guess what I am trying to say, is give Cheryl a call if you are feeling really icky, but trust me, 20 kg's is fabulous!

For my first few fills, I didn't feel any different, could still eat everything and lots of it, but then one day, I got something stuck... That sucks the big one. It is much better to have that band go up gradually than all at once and have to have an emergency un fill. From what I hear, they re fill it so slowly again, that you almost go insaner.

I really do feel your frustration, but I just keep telling myself how wonderful it is to have lost 20 kg's, and that it will never come back, and that I have never been able to loose 20 kg's and keep it off before.

Hi All!!!

I can't believe its been two days since i last spoke with you all. Life has been hectic, and god - I am so glad ive booked this surgery!! I am a walking, talking, obese ....something or other. I feel HORRIBLE!!!! My stomach has started doing WEIRD things and making me feel sick, heart burn etc!! BAH! Got my approval letter from APRA today, sent off to super fund with forms so hopefully in a week or two i will have funds!

Terri - You are too sweet lovely!! People can be real (insert word of choice here that Yahoo wont allow us to say). My father has ALWAYS had something to say about my weight, right from when I was a little girl and he has ALWAYS been obese. I love my parents dearly but sometimes it has made it hard - even though I was previously quite slim.

Shell - How are your danglies going? Poked back in? Sounds so wrong!! Interesting about the shoulder tip pain - I had an emergency appendictomy two years ago - and i got bad pains for months after in my shoulder blade. Hmmmm, maybe they fill us up with gas? (Good for noises!!)

J - Will be saying YES to drugs at the hospital and have been stocking up on my supply of mersyndol forte for my backc pain to have after surgery!!!! It will HOPEFULLY keep me pain free!!

Not long to go - got ANTS IN MY PANTS waiting!!!! Getting bigger by the second but HELP IS HERE!

Shelly,

As for the stockings - the nurse didn't put them back on me this morning - I suppose I should get Craig to... yuk.

I have some "Up and Gos" and willjave to get some fruit for smoothis. Mum is bringing some soup over.

The worst thing is I ave heartburn - I asked Cheryl about this. Surely I shouldn't have it but she said some do get it. I had a new band toget rid of heartburn!

Oh well the irony of it all!

Cheers Phillipa

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Welcome home Phillipa

Good to hear your feeling better, better than yesterday.

Liquids...... mmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... what have I had...... mango smoothies made with mangos, yogurt, apple juice, ice and banana. Tea made with water and a tea bag. Broth made with water and stock, yuk!!!! Cup of soup strained so no noodles and veges creep down my throat, much better than broth. Water made from the tap. So my day consists of Breakfast Tea and Juice, lunch smoothie, Dinner soup and water inbetween. Boring I know but can't be bothered doing anything exciting yet. My back is still sore. The more I keep moving the better it feels, but then when I stop I start to ache. Catch 22 really. I'm bored so I've emailed my work to send something home for me to do, haven't heard back yet.

Just read back on my post, what a whinger.

Good to hear that Richard did a bit of housework on you while you were under and cleaned up some scar tissue for you. I have everything crossed that that was your last surgery for a very long time.

Keep well, Have you got your tantalising stockings on? They are sooooooo sexy.

Rest up
Mwa

Hello, I am home...
I was not very well yesterday, with gas pain and a headache bordering on a migraine. Woke up feelingmuch better thanks to various drugs I am sure.

The wound sites look really good, so clean, no ooze. He took his time and cleaned up some scar tissue on the way.

Back To liquids again... any good recipes Shelly.

Thanks for all the support from everyone, fingers crossed no more visits to Hospital.

Cheers Phillipa

Morning all,

Craig thank you for the update on Phillipa. I called the hospital yesterday but didn't know your last name???? You are such a wonderful couple you both say most beautiful things about each other. Let's hope this is it for her and she can sail through the next 50 years with no surgery.

J I think your sister will be 2 days late..... he he he he he..... what will that make the due date be? I need to do our tax as well, but my back is limiting me from doing much at all, which is really giving me the s@#$s.

I might try and keep moving a bit more today and get the gas out. I'm feeling for Phillipa with the shoulder pain, it is awefully painful. The degas tablets are helping I think, I don't usually fart this much on a normal day....... now who is giving a bit too much information...... he he he he

Best be off before I tell all.........

Have a lovely day.

Hi All craig Here.
Just a little update about my scrumptious wife.
Surgery went well, only a new band. She was in theatre a long time though I began to worry that Dr Dickie had proceeded to a sleeve.
Phillipa is doing well, she has a fair bit of pain, but after what she experienced last year Im sure this will be a walk in th park.
Shoulder pain is giving her hell though and hopefully she will be home tommorow sometime.

I cant wait cause I want to tell you all that my wife is wonderful and she rules my world, ans completes me!!!

See you all soon
Craig

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Shelly,

I know what you mean...

I took 2 weeks off work, cause my sister is due to have her baby on Monday, and refused to tell me the exact time and date it would pop out. It is her 3rd, you would think by now she would know... Her hubby says it will be 5 days late, she thinks it will be 3 days late, I have my money on right on time, nan thought it would be here already, and mum won't commit.

I didn't meet her 1st till he was 18 months old, and I didn't meet her 2nd till she was 1 month old, both cause I was living in the USA...This one I want to be there as it arrives!

So, I took the week off before, and the week off after, got sick, so that took care of most of the first week. Now, I am just bored, and sick of the Wii, and sick of kicking butt on Yahoo card games. I went to H&R Block to do my taxes...all the medical was way too confusing for me, so I walked in looking like the man in the add, and said can you make sense of all of this...which they did...

I booked my car in for a service on Monday, and bought a shreadder to go through my filing cabinet, but now can't be bothered. Will visit my sis tomorrow...

Bired, bored, bored, and telling you way more than you need to know about my family...

Have fun, I hope you find something to do...

J

J you are funny......

I think the anathesiest pulled my dangly thing, or uluva, out and played on it like a harp while I was under, and when she let it go it didn't go back to the proper size????? I'm not coming down with anything, so that can be the only answer..... he he he and yes I am still farting......

Glad to hear your feeling better. I think you and Candice are very brave to watch the surgery before having it done. Don't think I could have.....

Have a great day.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi All,

Okay, so now I am back, almost all better, over the dreaded flu. So I just read back over my last few posts, and have a note to self: Don't go near the puter when you are so high with fever that you have no idea what you are typing.

Shelly,
I am glad all went okay, and that apart from the deformity in your throat (I think it is called a uluva or something, and I think it makes you snore) that you are all good. Are you getting sick, the flu, a cold, sniffles? I think that is when mine gets grumpy.

Keep on farting...

Phillipa,
I know you probably arn't reading this, but I hope everything went okay, and number 9 is the lastest one you have.

Hmm, you will probably be farting by now too...

Candice,
I watched the surgery on utube before I had it, and I think it was one of the worst things I could have done. Yes I found out what they did, which is good, but I also found out what they did, which was just grosse. As far as pain went, straight after the surgery, I had a little pain where the port is, but they gave me good drugs. Never say no to the drugs...okay, so that sounds very wrong. Never say no to the drugs the nurses inject into you in hospital, they are good drugs. Always say no to street drugs! They are bad drugs :)

I think I must still be a bit delerius, (I know I can't spell)

And to also answer your did you go food crazy before the surgery...Yes, I put on 4 more Kg's before the surgery, which is totally crazy. I had the attitude like I was never going to be able to eat again. Well, after the surgery, once you are back on solids, you can eat everything you could eat befroe the surgery...well, I can, some people have issues with some foods...anyway, you can eat everything you could eat before the surgery, just less of it and slower...

You will soon be farting...

Whoo hoo, yes, I finally have some restriction.....

Have fun keep farting, and take care all,

J

MY BACK HURTS :(

There that's my whinge for the day.
How is everyone today?
Candice I agree with Terri f!#k them all. Hold your head high and think of all their faces next year.

Some of my family who I only see yearly if that, use to tell me how "I'd grown". I'm 42 years old, I know they meant outwards and not upwards as I've been 5 foot 3 since I was 16. So last time I saw one of the aunties she didn't say that I'd grown, she said "Well.... don't you look well"
Then she went back to Sydney and spread the word. he he he he he ........ love it. They can all sni gger (Mr Yahoo didn't like that word joined together) out the other side of their faces now.......

Terri my dangly thing is quite annoying. I even had a nightmare about it last night that it just kept growing..!!!

Well I might go and see what trashy midday movie is on.

Take care everyone

AWWWW Candice Baby!!!!!!! I'm sure you are far from a "big,
yucky slob!!!! The way we see ourselves is often alot
different, than what other people see, and besides, what is the worst thing thay can say "Oh, Candice has put on some
weight" Big f@#k'n deal. Walk in there with your head held
high and a confident SMILE (a smile wins everyone over) and
just think quietly of next years awards night, when they
will all be telling you how fantastic you look! Mind you,
we have all thought what you are thinking at the moment, and it's easier said than done, so we all are with you and
know where you are coming from.
As someone said? the pain vary's for everyone, I did suffer
terrible shoulder tip pain, for me, it was the worst part of the whole op, if fact I still get shoulder pain, and can
usually associate it with a bit of port site discomfort, I think it has a lot to do with my posture, sitting at the computer all day. Be positive sweetie, you will be fine!

Awww shell, you always make me laugh!!!!!!! Believe it or not - gasp- ladies fart!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im always telling my partner off - he will go into the loo and it will be TERRIBLE - i NEVER say anything, then when i go and its a bit smelly - he makes the BIGGEST song and dance!! I keep telling him im going to have start doing it to him for payback!!

The dangly thing? You mean your tonsils?? They are hanging into your tongue? That is ODD!!! Can you attend the emergency department or your GP and see if they can poke them back down????

I feel a lot better - I am generally good with pain and even though the procedure looks disgusting on film, im sure I will be fine. Like you said, if i can survive being cut up and stitched up in the mouth and gums, i should be fine.

Can't wait for the surgery - having a lot of heartburn, nausea and very sleepy a lot lately (not to mention hiding from my image in the mirror every time!)

Im worried about an awards night we are having in November for my partners business. The last time people saw me (a year ago) I was slim and fit. Now i am a big yucky slob!! I just dont want to go, and have people see me now and either say nasty things to my face, or worse, behind my back.

So much worry, and yet so much excitement!

Please pass on my best wishes to Philipa, she must be booorrrrrreeeeeedddd. Thinking of you all.

Hi

I've been texting with Phillipa, she won't be going into surgery until after 6 tonight. Poor thing, the waiting is hard, but she has two books and I'll keep texting. She is in good spirits and hasn't lost that great sense of humour.

Take care all
