....If you do go out and get some they sell it in the supermarket, or they do at safeway in Bayswater anyway, it may be cheaper than the chemist.

Hi Chelly

I'm glad the peppermint tea has given you slight relief. Where are you from? I have degas here which has not been opened which you are welcome to. I will check the use by date and get back to you.

Good luck

I have just sipped some peppermint tea and it has eased ever so slightly - I'll head on down to the chemist tomorrow and give 'degas' a go - I'll try anything to ease this pain and discomfort.

Oh Chelly you poor thing. Your doc sounds like a helpful soul..... have you tried degas? Or,and someone correct me if I'm wrong, peppermint tea? Congratulations on the 11kg loss in 2.5 months, that's an excellent result. Hope your feeling better very soon.

Thanks to Rhonda, Sharon & Shelly for your prompt and kind responses. I was banded about two and a half months ago (11kgs ago also!)and am actually in quite a deal of pain at the moment. I have been suffering from a tremendous build up of gas over the past few weeks and it is excruciating. I saw the doc last Friday and she said there was nothing I can do - I am in agony! Any words of wisdom out there?

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi all,

Welcome Chelly. Endosurgery have support group meetings on the first Monday of every month (except Nov. it will be the second Monday, due to cup day) they are usually in the Boronia Room at Knox Hospital at 7.30pm. Keep your eye on the threads and it will be mentioned. Also some of the ladies get together at Eastland for a coffee quite regularly or at King Bean at the Wantirna Mall I'm sure you would be made more than welcome there as well. Again keep your eye out on here for dates and times. Have you already been banded?

Sharon as for your question on how do you know when you have enough fill. For me it was a matter of getting a fill then working back. As you know 6ml for me was too much and I couldn't keep anything down, then it was just a matter of adjustments to find the right spot where I could eat and feel full. Eventually I found I ate a meal and wasn't really looking for another until it was due. I still find the "head hunger" nagging me between 10 and 11pm, but I find something else to do. Nothing exciting usually a load of washing, sometimes I do give in and be naughty but not too often.

Take care all
Mwa

Chelly, forgot to mention that I went through Endo at Knox. Have you been through Knox or the Valley? A lot of the people on this thread have gone through Knox Endo and a few have gone through the Valley.

Hi Chelly
Welcome to the thread. You can pop in and out whenever you like, everyone is welcome. Have you already had surgery or contemplating surgery for lap band? Feel free to ask questions there's always someone with an experience to answer questions.
Cheers

Hi Chelly,

Welcome aboard. Many people here have gone through EndoSurgery at Knox PH or The Valley. I am closer to the Valley, but I am sure the Knox people will contact you.

Hi Knox Hospital bandits,

I live in the area and would love to chat with others who are going through life after lap-band. I noted that you have a support group - may I ask if I may join you.

Cheers, Chelly

Just thought I'd mention that when I am on fluids for that day after a fill I find that the Up N Go are good as you get your protein and I feel full for quite a while after those drinks, 'cause they're nice and thick and creamy especially yummy the vanilla for me! (Will I ever not think about food and yumminess?!@?#!?$?%?!)

Hi Phillipa
You know I have been the same (hungry) after a fill and I can't say I enjoy going onto liquids for the rest of the day then mushies the next day but it does help with the weight loss so it's not for long. Actually I still quite like some of the mushie food, do you? I love roast vegies with rosemary mashed up with some yummy gravy! I must admit I am always too scared to do anything different than what I'm told to do in case I undo all the good!!! Especially in your case you need to do all the right things in the right order luvvy! Yes, it's definitely not nice when food gets stuck - avoid that at all costs! That's great that you can go back to work also. Have a good night. I'm off to beddy byes now.
Take care
Sharon x

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Thanks Sharon

It does feel good to be over the 20kg lost! I have had soup for lunchand dinner and I am hungry! How bizarre - I have just had a fill and I feel hungry, doesn't make sense! Maybe with some mushies tomorrow I will feel full. They want me to be very careful considering it wasn't easy getting into the new port - so I don't need to get anything stuck.

Cheers Phillipa

Go, go Phillipa down to 117.6kg - whoooo hoo!!! You've done so well considering all you've been through.
I bet it feels strange on the liquids again - the only consolation with that is that it does help with a bit more of a weight loss at fill time eh?
Thanks for letting us know about the November meeting - I didn't twig about Cup Day. Have to go and recheck my calendar now!
Take care

Also meant to say good for you with the earring! I know of so many people who tape their studs in their noses or eyebrows or ears - so makes sense eh? Fantastic to get some work at your child's school - yep it's a foot in the door. Good luck with it all.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi Shelly
Hope your son is feeling better - that gastro has been running rife all over the place (my Mum's aged care home was in lock down for nearly three weeks not allowing anyone in as it is so contagious as they didn't want anyone reinfecting the poor little old people - so many had it including my dear little Mum). Heaps of people at my work have had it also.
Sounds like you're in a good place at the moment and nearly a 70s girl - keep motivated and you'll be cheering shortly. How do you know when you don't need a fill? Is it when you don't get hungry between meals anymore or is it when you have trouble with some foods? I am so confused with the ban sometimes when people say one day they can eat one thing and then eat the same thing the next day and have problems. Do you think that's because they could be stressed, rushed etc etc? or that it's just tight. How do you feel at the moment? Are you able to eat most foods and not get hungry or do you have problems at times?
Cheers
Sharon

Shelly,

Cheryl said today I have to think like a lap band client now and never be a sicky any more! I agreed!

It feels strange having to limit myself to liquids today as I haven't done this since early April when I had my first fill!

Now down to 117.6kg that is a long way from 138kg considering my journey! I am pleased

Hope the sone feels betterand that it is n't gastro as it can travel through the family - Yuk!

Cheers Phillipa

Hi I'm back

Picked up my son from school. He is feeling yuck. Hope it isn't the Gastro bug going around. Took some tablets to my friend with the gastro bug, poor thing couldn't even open the door. Sounds like a nasty bug going around, take care everyone!!!!

Phillipa that's great news. I had to cancel my appointment today as I haven't been to my GP yet for the ongoing referral. Must ring and book. I'm doing fine though and don't think I want any more fill, or if I should try .25ml extra, but I think I am where I should be.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

Hi everyone,

Good news Shelly!

Well I just had my second ever non-surgical fill! I am now 7mls in a 14ml. The mid line port was a bit hard to access, but not helped by my wound still be open - it will get easier!

Also just a quick reminder that the November support group meeting is the second Monday because of Cup Day.

Also on good news I can finally go back to work next week

Cheers Phillipa

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi everyone,

Well all my stars must be lining up as things are looking good. I have proof that I am allowed to tape my earring. I put my name out at the local primary schools for Intergration aide work and low and behold my daughters school rang and asked if I could work this morning as someone was sick. So I went in for 3 hours. It's a foot in the door, so hopefully I did a good job and they will keep me in mind for the future.

I as sooooo close to being a 70's girl, so I'm working hard at getting there.

Oh a star has just fallen, I just got a call from my son's school and he is sick, so I better be off and pick him up.

Have a great day
I'll be back later
