Sorry for the double reply, but the other thing is that it will be a bit sore and possibly swollen after your regurgitation. Let it settle for a few days, then try the pasta again, it might be ok.

Hi Shan
You are finally getting restriction. It is not always instant after a fill, sometimes it takes a bit of time. Don't know why that is the case, but it happens. For example, I had my last fill in October, and it has gradually tighted up more, it is way tighter now than it was just before Christmas.
Welcome to your new world :)
Cheers

well everyone
disgusting i realise but tonight i had my first regurgitation and IT HURT LIKE HELL!!! Corned Beef is totally off the list for me from now on. I have just made some pasta (being soft and all) and even it wont go down.
I seem to have trouble now with most meals but weight is starting to come off so i guess its worth it!

No Shan, your doin fine, keep up the monthly appointments,
I was just curious why tara went every six weeks, cause I knew she has been banded for quite a while, and when I go for a fill, they only wanna see me about every 3mths unless
I have problems.
Wendy,
Hope the steroids help, bugga about not getting your first fill though!

Hi all
went to see Cheryl and Richard today, I am quite inflamed around the extra incision I had to have due to the broken needle.
Richard said he would inject the muscle with steroids to help it heal quicker. When he said this I thought oh my god its going to hurt bad, surprisingly it didn't hurt too much.
I have to go back next Monday and all being well I will get my first fill in band. Hopefully the pain will go away.

Banded August 2006 I go at 6 weekly intervals to keep myself on track, i still want to lose another 7kg to be at my goal weight, though I am at my surgeons goal now. As I have posted a while back, I had an sligh unfill for o/s travel in 2007 and have only now just got back to where I was prior to that trip so I need to keep myself focused. the docs I see at the avenue are happy for me to go as often as I need and we think 6 weekly is a good routine.

Shan, congrats, sound like you are really settling into band life now. the ups and downs in regard to the scales is why i dont weigh between my 6 week visits, or at least i try not to. just occasionally i might jump on the scales at the 3 week mark at work. i dont own scales at home, best bit of advise i ever received was to get rid of them.

Hi Wendy
i had pain around the port site for a little while as mine sits...or sat....in the fold of my skin (strange place for it i thought!) but nothing that kept me awake at night. Speak with Cheryl perhaps to put your mind at ease.
Had an awesome day at the races yesterday and got told SO MANY TIMES how good i was looking and how much weight i had lost. It make me feel amazing!
ALSO....i got on the scales and when i went for my fill on monday i must have been retaining fluid or something because i got on the scales this morning and i have lost 4 kgs since monday, leaving me 1.2kgs short of my first minor goal of 110kgs (cant believe how freely i can discuss my weight on here!) I was so happy.....having a lot of trouble with different foods since my last fill on Monday, still can eat more than i should but im happy with the way things are progressing thus far.
Hope everyone is having a sensational day
Luv

Hi Wendy,
I can't remember back that far, but I don't think I
had the sort of pain you are talking about, sure Cheryl and
Richard will put you at ease on Monday though. I still suffer from a nagging pain at the port site as well as shoulder tip pain, every now and again, but I think I have put that down to posture, sitting all day at the computer. Good luck with your first fill.
Luv to Garry

Wendy, I agree with jo-anne. Get them to check it when you go in because although I don't remember when my pain stopped (I'm 10 1/2 weeks post-op) I know for sure that when I went for my first fill at 6 weeks I definitely had NO pain.
Good luck.

Hi everyone
I am going for my first fill on Monday. Can anyone tell me if they still have been in pain 7 weeks after being banded.
Garry says he wasn't but where my port incision is it is still really painful and I struggle to bend without it hurting.
I have never before had problems with pain and therefore don't know if this is normal. I am truly fed up with pain around my rib area. Some nights it is so severe I cannot sleep. Sorry to whinge but as I said Garry never had this much pain for this long and is no help.

Shan,
I still have a long way to go. When I was first banded my goal was just to get under 100kg. Then I decided I could get to 85kg by the end of this year. Now I'm thinking maybe 80kg. This is as far as I allow myself to think ahead.
Banded Dec 07 - 152kg
Today - 93kg
It will be interesting to find out where I am at the 2 year mark!

thanks Tracey, i had a wonderful day.
Erina: thanks so much, i know i need to hang in there but i reazlly just want to loose it. I wish we could post picks on here because id love to see your progress. How much have you lost now? You gove me hope on here you know. Cheryl told me that people that loose heaps at the start will eventually slow down and those that dont loose as much at the start will eventually cath up. At the end of two years it works out to be the same amount (roughly) i hope she is right, i really just want to start loosing. Its really starting to play with my head and making me want to revert back to old habits! I wont though, 10 kgs is still better than having on my hips still isnt it
Hope your ll having a good day

Hi Guys,
Well what can I say. I had the worst anxiety attack yesterday after craig called me from seeing Richard - he has to have a Barium swallow - could have apouch like I did. Well ypu can imagine, that sent me over the edge and I was out of it sobbing and couldn't breath etc for about 3 hours! Freaked everyone out at work and had to be driven home. The psychologist says that with PTSD these attacks can happen. Wow i jope I don't get anymore like thisone - Saw mu GP - my blood pressure went through the roof.
Glad others are doing well - wish I was one of you still...

Hang in there Shan! Sounds as though you are getting close. Your experience with restricion is very similar to mine. It was slowly slowly and then bam - big difference! The weight is very literally melting off me now, 3 or 4 small meals and 4 sessions at the gym per week. There have been times though where I have thought getting banded was so overrated and I had made a mistake and it was all just C#R%A*P. I personally feel that when they advertise the band as an answer to "never dieting again" that it is really a load of you know what!!! Of course you have to restrict your calories or you will NEVER lose weight! For me, this band has simply been another tool to help me stay on track. Having just said that - I should confess that last night I had 2 small squares of caramel slice!!!!
Take care - I have been thinking about you! Soldier on!

Shan, happy birthday for the other day!
I hope you get your restriction sorted out soon. I have 4ml in a 14ml band and am about 10 weeks post-op and can't wait until I have my restriction just right. I'm starving between meals all the time, so am snacking all day and night and therefore not losing any weight, or very little very slowly. grrrrr......
I've taped the Insight show so will have to make time soon to watch it.

Hey everyone
Well, another day another fill! I dreaded the scales and was prooven right when i put on 0.8 of a kg.....NOT HAPPY at all. Cheryl explained to me that im just not adjusted right yet and that my PCOS would be affecting my hormones and in turn affecting my weightloss. I got quite upset but she managed to calm me down and make sense and put another 1ml on my band, not totalling 5.5ml.
Dont know if anyone else had a fill yesterday but Richard could not find the port and he said it had been happening ALL DAY! SIX TIMES HE JABBED ME AND IT HURT!
I feel like i have some restriction at the moment but am not sure if its swelling still from the fil. I really really hope this journey starts for me soon because im fast becomming over it! Today i could only eat about 2/3rds of normal brekkie, 3/4 normal munch and a small dinner. Also had a planned snack of cruskit and boiled egg on it. Hopefully the trend keeps up for me.
Did anyone watch Insight tonight on the SBS, was about weight loss surgery and an obesity task force. Was quite interesting, nothing come from it i felt but was interesting hearing other sides of the coins. I definately think something needs to be done about making healthy choices easier for people. I think large companies make too much money out of people being overweight and dont want to risk their revenue really!!!
Cheers

Hi everyone,
what a week its been!!!!
Yesterday i entered my last year in the 20's and as a birthday present my band gave me a seriosly painful episode. I was having lunch with my mum and all of a sudden something got stuck (which has been happening a bit the last few days) it normally stays for a minute and thn slips through....not yesterday, half an hour it was like that for and it was terrible, then i think i started to panic, well i know i started to panic and felt like i couldnt breathe and mum started to panic and i realised that i had Sues number in my phone and i said to mum ring her because i didnt know that it was only something stuck, i didnt think it would be that painful and last for that long. As soon as mum got off the phone to Sues voicemail (so sorry sue for interrupting you at a social event) whatever it was slipped through and 'BAM' it was over.
Sue you are a wonderful lady with experience and knowledge that could help anyone on this page and i sincerely thank you for taking the time to call me back. Whilst i realised i overreaceted in calling you i wasnt exactly sure what was happening and you really put me at ease. Thanks so much
Hope everyone is well
Cheers

hi all
well I am back to work on Monday 3 months off went quick.
Garry is busy doing his course at Sth Yarra and then he starts parttime job with Dept of Corrections.
On band news I am still sore but it is manageable. Go back to see Richard Monday week for 1st fill, hopefully the weight will start to come off.
Bought myself a Wii and Wii fit, have hardly had a chance to use it as everyone else is on it. I have beaten everyone in bowling on Wii sports though. They are all striving to beat me.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.
