I 'might' be able to make it on Friday, will see how work is going on the day.

I have an appt at Knox on Monday, with Rosemary King. I have not seen her before, when I made the appt I thought she was a nurse, but have recently found out she is a new doctor. Has anyone else seen her?

My first appt since October. Tossing up whether to ask for some fill out. I'm comfortable with it where it is food & hunger wise, but I think I need to stop losing soon, and I'm still dropping a kilo every 3 weeks or so. When you have been trying to lose weight every day for 30 years, its very hard to change the mindset to not losing.

I am also worried that with the current level of fill when I go in for my body lift, I won't be able to eat enough to heal properly. I find my band is tighter in the mornings, its usually liquids only til lunchtime. I guess thats from laying down overnight. So if I'm laying down a lot after the op this will equal no food intake.

Will discuss with Rosemary on Monday, and maybe with my plastic surgeon, as he does lots of banded patients. But the idea of having fill out terrifies me.......

Have a good weekend everyone, keep warm. I froze at the Anzac service this morning, my daughter 'borrowed' my coat as she was cold too. Things we do for the kids :)

Cheers
Sue

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hhhmmmm, a belly full of wing! Not heard that one before!
Perhaps all that weight is trying to fly away?????
He he sorry Shan, I assume you meant wind!!!!
I've not had that problem, but I have had different pain
related things, and they always usually seen to settle down
within a day or two, I don't think it is band related, but if your concerned wouldn't hurt to give Cheryl a ring, better to feel reasurred, because stress causes pain.
Take care sweetie.

Wishful,
Thinking of you and hoping all is going well, as someone else posted, concentrate on getting well from the surgery before worrying too much about the weight coming off. It will happen.

Hi Everyone,

Just letting you know I have set up a new community site for Lap Bander's in Australia. I was banded last week, and decided to use my week off from work to put together a site to bring all the different groups together and to thank all the support groups for their advice during my pre-op stage.

I have put together a forum specifically for your local group, as well as many other forums, which will hopefully be easier to use.

http://www.bandingtogether.com.au/

If you have any suggestions for improvement, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Thanks!

Hi Everyone, its been a while since my last post because i was mopey and feeling sorry for myself but all good now. Everyone seems to be doing so well, so proud of all of you.

Wishful, listen to what they guys and gals here have to say, they are full of wonderful advice and support and each persons journey is different. I have been banded since November last year and only now am i starting to see some (small as they may be for now) results so dont rush it, dont loose faith.... it will happen!

Glad to hear that your pain is now manageable Wendy, sorry to hear about your cold, im home today too with the same thing!

Ive lost 4.3 kgs since my last fill which was 23rd march (according to TODAYS scales, they change all the time) and am booked in for another in two weeks and i cant wait because i can feel this one wearing off.

Thank you to everyone for you lovely and supportive words too by the way! Dont know what i ever did before you guys came along!

Hope everyone is well and Happy.

Love
SHan

Hi all

Well for the fist time since my surgery 10 weeks ago I am almost pain free. The extra incision still a bit tender but it is at least manageable now.

I am home today caught a cold or virus bug, need to rest and get better.

I have also dropped into the 80's can't remember when I was there last. Now lost a total of 10.2 kgs since January.

Erina good on you for finally getting there and setting realistic goals. You will be our new pin up girl soon.

Wishful hang in there listen to what the other girls are saying and just worry about recovering from surgery.

Cheyl told me David Scott has gone back to Traralgon as he was finding it to hard to keep his own practice going and work at Knox. She said he has learnt a lot from Knox and will take all that experience back with him to Traralgon.

Garry is off to a job interview today, but he has also been offered full time work to end of June with Dept. of Corrections, which at this stage he will take.

Hi to Terrie, Phillipa, Craig and everyone else.

Wendy

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
wshful_thinking, don't stress too much about losing weight yet. Use the first 6 weeks before your first fill as time to heal and adjust to your new way of life.

I'm sure you didn't gain weight overnight and it's certainly not going to drop off you overnight.

I've had my band for 3 months now and have lost next to nothing since getting it (3.5kg lost since my band date). I know it's partly due to my eating habits and food choices, but I'm not totally fussed about it yet as I don't have full restriction after 3 fills (4.5ml in a 14ml band).

Concentrate on healing and the weight loss will start before you know it.

Take care.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi everyone,

i am feeling soooo much better today. Well enough to go to knox and walk around (slowly though), still in a little pain my left should is slowly getting better which is great.

I weighed my self today and i havn't lost any weight. I've been easting soups (chicken stock) and commerical protien drinks (sustergeon and up and go), but still havn't lost weight. I've just started having a little more richer fluids such as milk shake from gloria jean yesterday (didn't even drink it all had a bout a quarter if that) and boost. Also just starting to east some ice cream (liquid), but a little scared thinking about if i have this then i wont loose any weight.

So i hope the weight loss come soon. Ive been eating, actually i should say drinking very slowly took me about 1.5hr to drink the whole reg boost. i think im scared what will happen if i drink faster, however this afternoon i took 30 mins to drink my soup.

Im only on fluids for 2 weeks and then in mushi stage for the 3rd week. Does this seem similar for everyone else? The dietician has said that at the end of the 3rd week i should be able to have a risotto and mush it up with my fork and eat it. Im just wondering when will be the point when i start droping some or atleast 2 kgs? My mums been quiet strict on the quantity of food/liquid im having and i ben quiet satisfied with the amounts, just hope i start loosing weight.

Hope things start working.

Erina i can't belive you've nearly lost 70Kgs wow thats amazing and great. Sue hope the surgery goes well.

Thanks for all your support guys, its great.

Sinatra :)

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi Erina

Hope you have a lovely time with your sister. Enjoy the break!

Yep, back to work for me this week. Only had one week off, and with in-laws staying over easter (2 four year olds and a six year old) it was not very relaxing. I feel like I have only had a day or two off. Oh well, only 5 weeks till I get 5 days in Qld on a girls weekend away.

Sounds like a reasonable goal you have set, then you can say you are half the woman you used to be..... that sounds great LOL. What will your BMI be at that point?

I still reckon our bodies will settle at an easily maintainable weight, its just a matter of letting your body find that point. I set an arbitary goal of 65kg, but was not going to kill myself trying to get to that if my body decided to settle at 66 or 67. Of course, having said that, I'm still trying to find that magic spot to stop. Went just under 58kg this week, which is amazing to me.

8 weeks from last Friday til my surgery, (not that I'm counting LOL) - I can't wait. I've been very slack with the gym, mainly due to a sore back. Need to get back into it and tone up before the op.

I didn't know anything had happened to David Scott. Is he not still there? I have an appt in a week or so, will ask if I remember.

Hi to everyone else, how are you feeling wishful???

Cheers
Sue

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi everyone,

Last post from me for a week, we are going away to see some family. Can't wait to see my gorgeous niece and nephew. I'm very excited, the washing and ironing to pack isn't even bothering me!!!

Sue, great to hear from you! Back to work for you this week? Yes, the weight is steadily coming off, I think my metabolism is finally kicking into gear. Regular exercise and small meals, you know the story.... easy in theory, harder in reality, easier with the band! How are you progressing along? Any further down the surgery track? I think I have actually set myself and end goal weight - which has been so hard for me. I tend to think in 5kg increments and to be honest I would have considered the band successful for me if I just got under 100kg. Lately I have been thinking that if I could get to 76kg (12 kg away) then I will have lost 76kg. I think this is a realistic goal as the weight loss hasn't slowed yet. We will see. Do you know what happened to David Scott at endo?

Phillipa, Sue is right. I have been worried about you and think of you often. I think it is frightening to think that your journey with the band really could have happened to any of us. It is understandable that it is hard for you you to come on here, but please know that we do miss you and want to know how you are getting on.

Wishful - welcome to the other side! I am glad the banding went well, especially with all of your concerns regarding the optifast! All over now!!! I had the gas pain for some time and found that a heat pack was really the only thing that worked for me. I am still a burper!!!! Try to relax and keep on top of the pain relief, no need to be a hero! Keep sip sip sipping away and enjoy the weight loss during this stage! Take Care.

Shan - thinking of you gorgeous - hope all is well.

Catch up with you all in a week or so!

Ohhh, have just been catching up on everyones news.

Erina, WOW, CONGRATULATIONS you skinny thing you. We will have to have a catch up soon, I want to see the new you.

Shan, hope you got through easter without too much emotional eating. Its a tough time after a breakup, but in the long run you don't want to stay with someone who does not want to be with you. I hope you are being kind to yourself, and Erina is right, there are lots of frogs out there......but there are princes too. Shame to have to kiss so many to find them - or maybe not - that can be fun too.

Judy, looking forward to a catch up to hear all about your Ja pan trip.

Phillipa, the bubbly woman is still there, just in temporary hiding. She will be back! Hang in there, we are all thinking of you.

Cheers
Sue

Welcome to the other side wishful!!

Make sure you keep up the pain meds as you need them, no need to be a hero. Have you tried some degas tablets to help with the gas pain? I recall having pain from the gas for a week or more, but everyone is different. It will gradually ease off, and you will feel a bit better each day.

Just take it easy and give yourself time to heal. You are only a couple of days out from surgery so don't expect too much of yourself. The pain will get better - it just needs time.

Cheers
Sue

Hi Guys,

thank you for your messages terri. I amgoing through some major pain at the moment, i had my surgery on wednesday, (all seemed to have gone well, wasnt told otherwise).

I guess the gas still in me from surgery isannoying and more painful than anythin, been trying to walk but not enough seems to be coming out, my left shoulder an back still hurts a hll of a lot, and i am soo scared to burp it feels like when i burp a air buble get stuck in my throat and i loose breath and have to seriously concentrate on moving it either outor back down. I called up the nurse about this and she said to take some milky substances (sustergeon(p.s im ver bad at spelling so please for give me))when will all this start going away and has anyone else experienced the burping issue?

Right now im kinda worried about all this pain and will i get better - will this really work or have i made a mistake (terri your very right i do stress about everything)Have to also whinge about Dr gilhome your perfectly right terri bark is much lounder then his bite, but still its important to have a supportive and caring doctor when your going thorugh this stuff, but anyway.

My tummy is sooo bloated, advil capsils are soo hard to take down, im in such a whinging mood at the moment sorry guys, i really hopes this works for me, and i too sooner then later can be like erina and sue posting up my successful weight loss.
