Hi Terri
Richard took all my fluid out of band except 1ml. Today I have been to have a CT scan to check band, stomach and abdomen.

I go back to see Richard on 1/6.

Pain a bit better today but as I said it comes and goes.

Will let you know outcome on 1/6.

How was your dinner with Terrie and Sharon.

Wendy

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
my sarga update, not sure if the leg pain is part of the issue . Had a ct that ruled out erosion, my issue now is extreme reflux, heartburn, Pain Pain Pain. How do i go from ok to so not ok with the difference .2mls and now no mls.
I find i can eat 1 teaspoon of food, but then suffer almost imediatley after eating. Cold i think makes it worse, im lucky to drink 2 glasses of water in a whole day, today i had my first nexium tablet today, yuck but hopefully it works.
I hate pain but fear band removal or worse more . But why sudden reflux and why so severe i just wish doc would help me explain why.

Hi shhmary

Glad you had that fill out, hopefully it will settle down by itself, and its not an erosion. Try and keep up the fluids so you don't dehydrate, and just take it really easy.

Does cool stuff help soothe it? Maybe suck on some icypoles. Others find heat helps, so tea or hot chocolate.

Is the pain in the calf related?? Would some panadol help, if you can get them down of course, maybe some soluble ones?

Take care

Sue

Hi Shan

Yes, I can hear and feel it. Some nights it has actually kept me awake with the noise, particularly if I lay on my left side.

My daughter finds it hilarious, she will lay next to me and cry from laughing so much.

Sometimes I think its not audible, I think it just sounds loud to me because I can feel it, but my family, bless them, tell me how loud it is.

Cheers
Sue

Sue

could you really hear it? I find that intriguing. Thats exactly what mine feels like and i wasnt sure if it was just something i was feeling or if it was something audible.....! Hope all goes well with the fill out!

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Well done Shan, see, we told you you would get restriction 'eventually'. Thats a great loss and measurements too, thats all that exercise you do paying off.

Enjoy your holiday!!

I had 1ml out today. Ended up seeing Renato at The Valley. It's obviously been a while since I have been to the Valley instead of Knox. Wandered around the specialist centre up on the hill for a while, and when I couldn't find them I rang Knox, who told me they had moved about 18 months ago! Good thing I was early.

Anyway, I had lost 0.8kg in the last 2 weeks, since Rosemary told me not to lose any more. Renato was all for taking 2 ml out, or even more, but I freaked and said no, 1ml was enough. I had visions of eating like a horse today, but no, a bit more, but still reasonable restriction. Managed pasta for lunch for the first time in a while, about 3/4 cup, and dinner still took me forever to eat. But I seem to have lost some the constant blocked drain sound effects, so thats a relief. My students are so polite not mentioning it, but it was embarrassing.

Cheers
Sue

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi shhmary

You poor thing, sounds like you have had a bad time, gall bladder and appendix.

Not sure I can really help in any way. When you say intense pain, is it all the time, or just when you eat, or eat too much? If it is all the time, or if you cannot get anything down, not even liquids, without pain, then get back to the doctor asap. If it is only when you eat too much, then pain is common, stop before you get to that point.

If you are managing fluids ok without pain, then just stick with that for a few days, and see if it settles. You may need to just give it a rest for a while if it has been sore, to let it recover.

Sorry if this is all stuff you already know, but I was not sure from the information given.

And of course - contact the surgery is always the best bet.

hope you feel better soon.

Cheers
Sue

Well done Shan, shows that banding will work if we follow the rules, just takes some longer than others to get there. Have a great time in Perth, hope the weather is kind to you.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi everyone

sorry i have been a bit slack lately. Have been really busy with work and also finalising details for my holiday to Perth on saturday this week.

Well since my last fill two weeks ago i have lost 1.5 kgs on my scales (always weigh heavier on theirs) but i did my measurements and compared them to the end of march and have lost 34.5 cms off my body and was way way happy. People have said to me this week that i look like i have lost heaps in the last few weeks. I dont think im quite at the 'sweet spot' yet but feel darn close. My next appointment is the day after i fly in from Perth....so im going to have to behave myself over there and not over indulge in the wonery tour i have planned!!

Hope everyone is HAPPY and WELL

Love
Shan

Erina,
Wow........65kgs, you star, I'm sure I would walk right past you in the street, you must look and feel FANTASTIC!!!!
Good on you xx

Sue,
That must be a bit of a worry, the band tightening on it's
own! Hope having the fill out helps and solves the problem.
Will be a much more enjoyable girly week away as well, not having so much restriction. Hope you have a wonderful time.
I read through a days eating for you, I now have 13.something in a 14ml band and have no where near the restriction you have, just goes to show how different it works for all of us. I also remember little Terrie saying
that she had trouble stopping the weight from coming off, similar to you, but I don't think tightness of the band was her problem. WHO KNOWS????????

Hi to all other bandits out there, I have just been away for a week to visit my Ma and Pa, nice relaxing break for
me and the old boy.........and then you come home!!!!!

See ya's
Terri xx

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi all

Hope everyone had a nice Mothers Day.

Well, I was booked in to have some fill out on 3rd June, but have just rung and changed it to later this week. There is a chance my surgery date may be changed, I could have gone in this week, but I said no as I am going to the Gold Coast on a girls weekend away the following week.

But my band is just getting tighter and tighter of its own accord. Very gradually, but its happening, and the last 2 weeks I have started having trouble with a lot more foods, and I'm taking the easy way out with soups etc more often. I liked it when I had good restriction, but could still eat anything. Now its just annoyingly tight. And I've lost another 0.5kg, over the last fortnight, so its still coming off, albeit slowly.

So, I'll have some out, and enjoy some relief for a couple of weeks.

Cheers
Sue
