Hi Isszy

Hope you are feeling better now. Some seem to find it really painful, and others breeze through. No idea why that is. I'm with you, I found I had a lot of pain, but so many others didn't I figured I must have been a wuss. But when I had my body lift a few months ago I found that less painful than the band op. Weird. Anyway, you should be well on the way to recovery now.

So, a meet up before Christmas everyone? How does a Sunday morning sound? Maybe the 22nd or 29th November? Also, the question is where? What suits people better, Knox area or Berwick area?

BTW, I have a heap of size 14ish clothes if they are any good to anyone. This hot weather caught me by surprise, I put on my skirts from last summer, they fell down, put on the shorts, they fell down. Had to wait for my one new summer skirt to dry before I could go out today, and then it was straight to the shops LOL. Unfortunately hubby was away for the day, so I had to take the little bloke, who is no fun to take clothes shopping! But at least I have some covering for this week.

Cheers
Sue

Hi All Bandits,
Yes I have been banded 28/10. How come know body told me how painful it would be. Either I am very weak to pain or it is as excrucating as child birth at least for the first few days.My tummy has been SO sore and I have severe back pain, is this normal guys?
Anyway day 5 a little better today, stomach still soreish, starting to get hungry, is this normal as well?
Must be worth it though as scales are going opposite direction, doesnt happen that much to me, so I am sure this will all be worth it in afew months. Looking forward to real food in 1.5 weeks.
Take care, thanks for support.
Isszy.

Hi Guys, I am finally feeling human. I went back to work on Monday and Tuesday 26 + 27, was off sick Wednesday and Thursday with this damn cold that wont go away. I thought I was going to cough my port up and it hurts. Today I bounced out of bed, I have 6 Christmas puddings worth of fruit on the go, I had a lovely cheese and beetroot omlette for lunch and I feel terrific. I would love to catch up the with bandits for coffee but I can only do weekends because of work.
Cheers

Hi Sue - great to see you posting. Yes it has been quiet, sounds like Gary and Wendy are busy doing other things. I'm up for a catch up for sure. Am off to Darwin for a girl's week escape on Tuesday but will be back on the 10th. Good idea to set a date before the silly season begins.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi all

Very quiet on here still. I'm guilty of not being here much now, too much time on facebook LOL.

T, hope you are managing work ok, and your cold is getting better. Not long til mushies? Hope you are healing well.

Isszy, I guess you would be banded by now. How are you? Taking it nice and easy I hope.

My band has tightened up again, seems I need to get fill out about every 6 months to stay at a good restriction level. Putting off ringing the surgery, as the concept having fill out is a scary thing. But for a few days this week even yogurt has been a challenge. And I am losing again. I know I shouldn't, but I have a large part of my brain still geared to that, and a little voice is saying that if I lose another 0.7kg I can say I have lost half my body weight, and that is a goal I would like to touch on, even if I don't stay there long term.

Erina, Shan, Tara and everyone else, hope all is going well with you all.

How about a catch up before we get busy with Christmas stuff? Would be nice to meet the newbies too.

Cheers
Sue

Hi Guys,
Well, Back at work today :( Feeling pretty good except that I now have a cold and I'm barking like a greyhound - hurts - lots. But, could have been a lot worse - a week earlier. Sleeping well (except for the cough cough), hubby is spoiling me with pureed anything and everything. A veritable flood of flavour sensations LOL. I weighed myself on Sunday and got off the scales smiling. I had this Eureka moment when I realised that for the first time ever, I just knew this weight was gone FOREVER. Every other diet there had been loss and then, back it comes with some of its friends. This time is the last time. WOO HOO.
Cheers
T

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Isszy,

I have found Hensman to be wonderful and even with the few hiccups I have had along the way, they have been so good to me. Things calm down for a while after you op, as you should be focused on healing and not so much on weight loss. Don't be worried if the hunger comes back with a vengence once you start to heal! You will probably leave hospital with an appointment for a week to 10 days after to get checked out the then you will get an appointment for your first fill which is usually about 6 weeks post op. Dont be worried if you dont get any restriction for the first few fills, it can take some time to get right, but you will have to use willpower during this time!!!!

Take care and keep posting, I think there are people lurking around here to help you out!!! We also try to catch up for coffee or breakfast from time to time and you are most welcome to come along and meet some friendly bandits!!!! We should probably try to catch up before christmas so keep an eye out!!!

Hi Erina,
Dean has just joined Knox and his assistant is Dr Hensman so heres hoping all goes well. I am very nervous as to whether I have made the right choice and I am sick of living out of Doctors surgeries. Is there as many visits post op and when you get fills or problems do you need to make appointments and wait or just turn up.
Thanks for answering me, this site is quiet at the moment, please keep in touch. Banded next Wednesday, SCARY!

Isszy,

Good for you!! I dont know of your Dr. Is he a new one there? Hopefully someone has heard of him and can answer your questions. I was banded by Mr Hensman and am coming up to my 2 year bandversary in a few months time! I still feel like it all happened yesterday! It certainly is an ongoing process.

Good luck with everything and keep posting!!

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well - Shan YAY for you!!! I know how frustrating it is when you can't exercise, it plays with your head and makes you want to eat eat eat!!!! I've been fighting the same two or three kilos for months, up a couple down a couple.... grrrrr..... I must admit that I haven't exactly been doing the right things though, small portions of bad, easy to eat foods.... I know what I have to do, just have to do it!

T - welcome to the other side!!!!! I am glad you are doing well, hang in there and try to make good food choices until you get some fill put in that band of yours!

Take care everyone!

Hey everyone, hoping no news is good news! Congrats T, welcome to the 4th day of the rest of your life, you wont regret it trust me, even though some days you will think what tha...?

I have my appointment with Richard on Tuesday to find out what they will be doing with my port, no pain anymore but they concerned at how much trouble Renato is having finding it for fills, causing scar tissue and so forth! Im so not looking forward to the scales because i have been TERRIBLE with my eating and havent been allowed to exercise, well i dont care how much it hurts tomorrow, im gong for a run regardless, its doing my head in.

Hope all is great withy ou all

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi Guys,
Thanks for your wishes. 4 days post op and I am starting to feel human again. I forgot how dopey anaesthetics make me. My only remaining pain is the shoulder and wind both of which are manageable. I have reduced the painkillers and I am drinking V8 juice, tomato soup, peppermint tea and banana smoothies so it's all good. I don't feel any restriction at all. I was told that I had a large band, whatever that is. My first fill is around the 17th November. I think I am travelling along quite well.
Cheers

Great to see you still around Terri, how are you???

T, not long to go now! Excited? Scared? All those and more I bet.

Shan, what is their plan for your port? I had a port repair last January, just day surgery, fairly quick recovery, hopefully the same for you.

Hope everyone else is well

Cheers
