I don't think I will ever be able to eat muesli again after my lovely breakfast today of barium and muesli!

The test seemed to show everythbing functioning fine.... still no answers!

But on the bright side, whist at Knox getting the medicare refund a friend I hadn't seem=n for awhile didn't recognise me!

Woo Hoo - I must be looking different now!

Focussing on the positives

I'm so excited!! I've just got off the phone with Jacqui at LSA and I've got my surgery with Mr Hensman booked for January 8, 2009 at the Valley. She said that I also just make it in for chrissy lunch before the dreaded optiyuk!!

Morning

Good luck for today Phillipa. Surely some answers are to be found soon.

Thanks for the suggestions. Son not into Cricket, but is into basketball and has every basketball known to man and the fav. jersies. Great idea for Kirsten though, will keep that one on the list. Thanks again.

Everyone have a great day.

It was nice to get some rain.

What to do at 5am when you are in pain... Get on the internet and say Good Morning...

Will let you know how it goes today.

Presents for teenagers.... Boys - mine were and still are into cricket, so new equipment was a good one.

13 girls - a piece of good jewellery - Start a Pandora bracelet with her. Then you can keep adding to it over the coming years etc.

Hope this helps Shelly.

Cheers Phillipa

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi all,

It's been a couple of days since I've been on, been so busy with courses and work and family ......... not telling you anything you probably aren't going through yourselves at this time of year.......

Phillipa let us know what the test results bring tomorrow. What are they testing for this time? Has the pain eased at all?

I put a bid on a kayak on ebay for my daughter for Christmas, only to find out that she now doesn't want one @!@#$.......... luckily I was outbid at the last minute......... now I'm back to square one as to what to get her and him. So any suggestions for Christmas presents for a 13yo girl and a 16yo boy who seem to have everything, let me know. The best gift idea could win a nice prize......

I went on my MEA course yesterday.... OMG!!!! Not me, not what we thought it was going to be. MEA's speak another language and translate for non english speaking students and families. I have three languages..... I can put on a pommy accent and I give the yankie accent a good go, but my best language is Aussie, other than that I can speak a couple of swear words in Italian. That's it. Now we are looking at ESL courses for me to attend. A bit more down my alley. I'm too old to start learning a new language. Still trying to sort out the teenage language. 1 grunt is "yes", 2 grunts is "no", a short grunt with a roll of the eyes is "you're dreaming." That's the look I get when I ask them to clean their bedrooms.

Enough rambling, I think I'm tired.

Have a good night. Good luck tomorrow Phillipa.

Hi All,

Saw Richard this morning. We still don't know whay I am in pain. It could be spasms, it may not be....

Having a museli and barium swallow for breakfast on Wednesday morning - should be tasty! Not!

Feel in lots less pain today that yesterday. He said if I had called yesterday withthe pain, it would have definately had to come out.

Oh well must keep smiling - I have lost 44% of my weight and have a BMI of 38 not 50.1 so we are winning in the long run

Cheers Phillipa

Just updating regarding my Melb. Path bill. They should have bulked billed me so I have to ignore bill and they will send out a form for me to fill in and send back so they can bulk bill.

Any future Valley Hospital Melb. Path patients should be aware of this. Don't pay any bills with them!

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Thanks Sue, I am going to ring LSA tomorrow and check if that arrangement is still current because I've noticed that the letter in the info pack is not dated so it could be really old and not applicable now. If it is still current I will then ring Melb. Path and see if they work it as you have suggested.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi Tracey and welcome.

I was done by Chris Hensman at the Valley too. I can't recall if I had to pay a pathology bill - but I know if I did I must have got it all back, as its not on the list of out of pocket expenses that I kept.

Maybe you should check that - sometimes it is 'bulk billed' in that you pay the amount on the bill, but when you claim from Medicare you get the whole lot back. That is what happens when you have appts with the surgeons after banding. You pay on the day, and get it all back later.

Cheers
Sue

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
I was wondering if there is a thread for Valley Hospital bandits? I don't like to intrude in the wrong place.

I've had my first appointment with Chris Hensman and will be having my surgery at the Valley hopefully in early Januray. I had my chest x-ray at MIA at the Valley which was bulk billed to Medicare and also my bloods and ECG at Melb. Path at the Valley but they have sent me a whopping big bill and I read in a letter in my info pack that LapSurgery Aust. have an arrangement with both MIA and Melb. Path at the Valley to bulk bill through Medicare. If you go elsewhere you may incur out of pocket costs. I made a special trip back to the Valley to Melb. Path so I could avoid these costs but they seemed to know nothing about any arrangement and have sent me this bill for over $200. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, and I apologise if I'm in the wrong place for Valley stuff.

Hi Syl,

I am getting done by Chris on the 5th Dec. Hubby and I have met all of the surgeons and I am very happy I have picked Chris and hubby thinks so too.

Have you been to a seminar to meet them all?

It's a good idea.
