Hi there Shan,

Well done to you. That is 1/2 a kilo a week which is a fantastic result!!! Keep slugging away at it!! I've increased my gym sessions, trying to get the weight moving again and working as best as I can with my band and food until my next fill which is just over a week away. How is your restriction? Hang in there girl and do your best at this hard time of year!!!!

Tara and Sue - great to see you the other day!

Happy Bandiversary Shan. you go girl, almost there, those 23kg have gone forever, along with whatever you would have gained if not for the band.
We must try and do a catch up, when are you down in melb next?

Hi Phillipa

Yes, it does suck! You deserve better.

The sleeve is not an option? I thought any further surgery was going to be risky? My thoughts are with you and Craig, its a tough decision to make.

Enjoy Nunsense, I would love to come, but babysitters are hard to come by sometimes.....

Erina, Sue, etc.

It sure is a long saga - I am nearly the weight I was when I started the journey to weight loss 3 years ago.

Spoken to Cheryl re balloon - she says may not be an option - but my only other option left Richard says is a full gastric by pass - that is VERY SCARY!

Such a waste of time and money the last 3 years....

Craig has also put on some weight - but band still working.

Life has sure been messed up by this.

I had to go out an buy all new clothes - i would fit the stuff i gave you Erina now and you probably don't any more.

Sucks doesn't it.

Phillipa

Cranbourne get together - settlement hotel sth gippsland highway cnr camms rd. 1 pm sunday 22 nov. all welcome, it is in the casual eating area, just inside the front door turn right. NOT in the bistro. We try to get the area that is slightly away from the crowd, up a step or two in the corner. Plenty of options for newly bandits food wise or just have a drink / coffee/ water. There is no pressure to eat. We always have a good turn out and hope to see a lot there on the 22nd. Will be good if those hoping to attend can post just to give the girl arranging an idea of numbers. Feel free to spread the word to other bandits/soon to be bandits or those thinking of banding to come along

Shan

Consider yourself slapped!!

This is a tough time of year, with all the socialising and stuff. So set yourself a reasonable target, personally I used to aim for simply not gaining beteeen mid November and New Year. Any loss is a bonus. And you are due for a fill in early December, yes? That will help.

Look after yourself and enjoy the season (in moderation)

Cheers
Sue

Hi Phillipa

Lovely to hear from you. Hope you and Craig are well, and had a lovely holiday!

I don't know a huge amount about the balloon procedure, but the surgeons (Richard and Ray) were talking about it at an information night I spoke at last week.

It is recommended for people in the 25-30 BMI, or 30-35 with no co-morbidities. As Tara says, its only for 6 months, to give people in this range a leg up and allow them to have a boost while they begin exercise and eating plans. I believe it is not covered by Medicare, which makes it expensive too.

So have a chat to Richard, but from that it does not sound like it would suit your situation.

Sorry to put a downer on your plans:(

Cheers
Sue

Hi Phillipa,
lovely to hear from you again. How is Craig doing? Re the balloon procedure, i was talking to someone on facebook last night who was due to have the balloon procedure but had a last ditch effort with the banding, had a fill and now going well so cancelled the balloon. Its approx $4000 and only lasts 6 months so rather expensive.

Hi Sue,
Sunday morning sounds great to me. I'm more familiar with Knox than Berwick but, either is fine. I live in Mt Waverley.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi Isszy

Hope you are feeling better now. Some seem to find it really painful, and others breeze through. No idea why that is. I'm with you, I found I had a lot of pain, but so many others didn't I figured I must have been a wuss. But when I had my body lift a few months ago I found that less painful than the band op. Weird. Anyway, you should be well on the way to recovery now.

So, a meet up before Christmas everyone? How does a Sunday morning sound? Maybe the 22nd or 29th November? Also, the question is where? What suits people better, Knox area or Berwick area?

BTW, I have a heap of size 14ish clothes if they are any good to anyone. This hot weather caught me by surprise, I put on my skirts from last summer, they fell down, put on the shorts, they fell down. Had to wait for my one new summer skirt to dry before I could go out today, and then it was straight to the shops LOL. Unfortunately hubby was away for the day, so I had to take the little bloke, who is no fun to take clothes shopping! But at least I have some covering for this week.

Cheers
Sue

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi All Bandits,
Yes I have been banded 28/10. How come know body told me how painful it would be. Either I am very weak to pain or it is as excrucating as child birth at least for the first few days.My tummy has been SO sore and I have severe back pain, is this normal guys?
Anyway day 5 a little better today, stomach still soreish, starting to get hungry, is this normal as well?
Must be worth it though as scales are going opposite direction, doesnt happen that much to me, so I am sure this will all be worth it in afew months. Looking forward to real food in 1.5 weeks.
Take care, thanks for support.
Isszy.

Re:Knox Hospital bandits - Melbourne Reply to this message
Hi Guys, I am finally feeling human. I went back to work on Monday and Tuesday 26 + 27, was off sick Wednesday and Thursday with this damn cold that wont go away. I thought I was going to cough my port up and it hurts. Today I bounced out of bed, I have 6 Christmas puddings worth of fruit on the go, I had a lovely cheese and beetroot omlette for lunch and I feel terrific. I would love to catch up the with bandits for coffee but I can only do weekends because of work.
Cheers
