| Hi Alison, no I didn't have a sleep test. I did fib a bit when Dr Kemp asked me if I snore I made very light of it. I used to snore like a truckie according to my daughter LOL I know what you mean about your comfort zone. It is so much better after you have lost some weight. I have just had 3 nights in Melb for a wedding and I took more clothes for that than I think I used to own before losing weight. It will only get better for you. I promise. Linda |

| Hello Linda Yeah having done so much reading online through all the support groups etc and knowing you lovely ladies im sure i can manage without losing $85 everytime!! haha i do have one question though .. did you all have to have the sleeping tests done? and if so where/how are they conducted? i must admit that everything i am doing for this is taking me so far out of my comfort zone that im sure it is playing a part in the delay with getting everything done (other then money)! im such a recluse at the moment .. having gotten to the point where i just go to work and come home .. i am starting to have mild panic attacks now going shopping which is pretty much the only thing i do outside of work nowadays.. the fact that i managed to come to the previous lunch was a miracle .. and i can assure you it took a lot for me to not chicken out! am i crazy?? but i feel this is the only way im going to get some control over how much i eat .. and start a whole new life .. ie actually have one. | Hey Jo no i havent been to see the physician yet .. money is a bit tight right now so trying to work all the expensive appointments in around bills lol i will get there though .. i spent my last rdo checking for any super that i may have forgotten about over the years .. i found just under $9000 worth!! so im organising that to be all transfered to my current one .. im almost tempted to just pay for it and not wait for the health insurance to kick in .. but of cause by the time i get it organised and booked it it probably wouldnt take too much longer to wait til the start of Oct. patience isnt one of my virtues!! lol Allison |

| Hi Guys, Thanks so much for the info. I have fixed the finance thing now. I was left with the message that I had to go back and see Judy Pendagrast as well. But it was just to get optifast. I can get that over the counter, I dont see the point in going back. She really didn't tell me anything new, and I can think of many other things to spend $85 on. Like Optifast! LOL. I wish I could make it to lunch tomorrow. I know you ladies have a wealth of information. And it would be nice to get to know fellow banders on a more personal level. Hope you enjoy lunch, and I will also try and make it to the next lunch. |

| hello everyone this is Allison .. i meet a few of you at the Park Hotel meetup in Feb. unfortunately i cant attent this months meet up (that thing called work lol). i really enjoyed meeting you all and look forward to the next one in april (will schedule that one in). well i had my appointment with Judy Prendergast the other week .. and was told that we wouldnt discuss the food/eating requirements for after the surgery until the next appointment! so $85 later i left with a list of what i should be eating now (like i dont know already) lol i dont know if i should go back for that appointment .. Can you let me know if any of you who saw her had to go back for the 2nd appointment to get the dieticians ok with Dr D for the surgery? (if thats something she has a say in .. im not sure ...) thanks Allison |

| Hi Logette, I had surgery with Dr Deutscher in Ballarat. You have to pay the gap before surgery. Mine was $1520 but that was in December 2006. I believe it's around $3000 now. The only bill I received was the gap for the anaesthetic which was $150. I believe it has gone up now too. The hospital did all the paper work with my health fund (medibank private) Linda |

| Hi Logette, I was banded on 18/2/08 in Melbourne. I was required to pay up front (2 weeks before surgery) the OUT OF POCKET expenses which was $4,000 PLUS the Medicare/private ins claimable fee which all up came to just under $5,500 UP FRONT or before the surgery. After the surgery I received individual accounts and receipts from the surgeon, anaesthetist and assistant surgeon to claim myself. Hope this helps Shaz |

| Hi All, I need some help? I have a question about finance. I have insurance, so that will cover most of the surgery, but do I need to have the rest paid in advance? Im really unsure how it all works as I have never claimed anything from my insurance before, and I have never had to do somthing like this. my email is logette@hotmail.com if anyone can help me out with a bit of advise I would really appreciate it. |
