Alison, so nice to see your post but what a nuisance about the diabetes. I am sure the doc is right and that as soon as the weight starts to shift there will be a huge improvement in your health allround and you will be feeling and looking fantastic! | hello everyone It was great meeting you all at the last lunchoen. I hope you are all well and look forward to seeing you when i can make the next one. Unfortunately i have training that week that i cant rearranged. i was supposed to see Dr D on friday (2/05) but they had to rescheduled it til next Friday. I am so hoping i can be booked in for the 6th October!! i am not the best at waiting. i have just been diagnosed with mild diabetes!! i guess im lucky that its only just come about. and my dr says that as soon as i lose weight it will go again. i was already aware that it usually does but its always good to hear your dr tell you it will lol i now have another pill to pop twice daily to go with the blood pressure ones! i cant wait to be pain free .. back, feet and lots of stomach pain lately (i am being tested for celiac disease as well) and pill free!! plus being able to buy 'normal' clothes!! overall i can wait to save so much money!! i wont know what to do with the money saved from so many drs appointments and expensive clothes and of cause all the food that i wont bother to buy anymore!! well better go before i go on forever!! lol have a good lunch everyone Allison |

| Hi Guys, Tomorrow, makes it one week till surgery! I know Dr D says I dont need to stress about loosing weight, but I keep having dreams that he refuses surgery or goes in and fails. I guess I wont believe it will really happen until I come out. Anyhoo, put me down for lunch, I will just have soup... hopefully! Speak soon Claud |

| Yeah your right Linda I am being optimistic but I'll still keep my fingers crossed. LOL. Who knows someone could cancel and I might be the person they ring. I was pretty lucky to get the other appointments so close and all on the one day, which for me driving from horsham, is fantastic. I am just so excited to have started the process to improve my life. Initially my husband wanted to wait until after we had our second child but I convinced him that it would be healthier for me and the baby to lose weight before I fall pregnant. Hubby was worried about the health of the baby with the lapband in but Dr D put his mind at rest. | I think you might be a bit optimistic. He did tell me it was about 6 months wait now but the receptionist told me more like 12 months. I had my first appointment with him in mid September and I hoped to have the surgery in October. I couldn't even get all the appointments within that time frame. At least you have the other appointments booked now so that is a relief. He is doing a lot more bandings now than when I was banded in Dec 2006. Linda |

| Lindaev, You are an absolute godsend. It has taken me quite a few hours but I have finally read all of the threads relating to Dr Deutscher & Ballarat and surrounds, and I have followed your journey from your 1st post till now. You have given me a tonne of info and you reply to most people's posts so quickly, which I greatly appreciate. So a big thankyou!!!! Dr D didn't give me a waiting time for surgery but the receptionist said 12 months. I tend not to believe her as she originally booked my 1st appointment in for 16th of May (saying he is soooo booked out) but then rang me with a cancelled booking for today. I think they just say 12 months so you don't expect the surgery straight away. She did mention he was going on holidays but once I have the 2nd appointment in June I'm hoping to have the surgery in July. Fingers crossed!!!! Sorry for the ramballing |

| You usually only see him twice and the surgery date is set at the 2nd appointment. Did you ask him what sort of time frame you are looking at? He is going on 3 weeks holidays in May/June. He used to make you lose 5 to 10 kgs before surgery but talking with another at lunch last week he seems to have dropped that. Also only have 1 appointment with the dietician. She will try to get you to come back before surgery but it might only be to get you optifast. You can get that at the chemist if you need to. She will also try to get you back after the surgery and it honestly isn't worth the money. We can tell you more than she ever could. Linda |

| Hi girls, Had my 1st consultation with Dr D this morning. He was a bit hesitant at first as my BMI is 30.5 (weighed 2kg less at his office than on home scales. Isn't it usually the other way around.LOL) Explained I had PCOS, Depression and a family history of diabetis and he agreed to the op. I've got the appointments with his team on 23rd of May and the second appointment with Dr D on 16th of June. My question is what happens after that? Is the 2nd consultation with Dr D where we set a date for surgery or do I have to see him again. How long before I get the surgery? By the way thankyou so much for all your information girls. I have learnt sooooo much from this forum. Would love to join you all for lunch but live in Horsham, so it's a bit far away. |

| Thanks Linda, Got them, and they are GREAT. Just over two weeks to go now, and I am excited, but still a little scared. Oh well. Bite the bullet and do this thing. I know it will be worth it. Soon I will be counting down the days... then the HOURS! LOL. |
