Hi All
Well tommorrow is the big day that I have been waiting for - I will be banded!!!!! I am so excited. I have been required to do the Meal replacement for the past week (1 week only) however i have been doing it loosely for the past 3 and have lost a paultry 2kg - how disheartening is that...... Anyway with the right headspace and determination tommorrow will be the start of a whole new healthy & happy life for me. My starting weight will be 95.2Kg. I will keep you all posted.

Hi Terratime29
I went to see the surgeon today and all went well, he finished by saying have a think about the surgery and come back to me when you have decided and I told him that I have decided and want to go ahead and had I not been going on holidays this Friday he would have done it next Thursday (Nov 5) but we have scheduled it for November 23rd., and he only insist on 1 week of Optifast which I was also pleased about. I do hope I have made the right decesion!! |

Hi there Terratime29,
I tend to go up and down during the week and my menstrual cycle certainly does have a lot to do with it too.
I looked back over the past 4 weeks and I have lost 4kg, so that is 1kg per week....so can't really be too disapointed with that.
I have started to do my treadmill with a bit more dedication now so hopefully will carry on seeing the continued loss over the next 4 weeks.
I had another fill and had 0.6ml added and now have 5.0ml, to be honest I have not noticed any change...I am going back in another 2 weeks to have some more put in

Hi Lisa
I am also finding the scales moving very slow at the moment but as long as they are not going up then we should not stress. Its takes time to get the right amount of fill so we just have to keep working at it till the correct fill is achieved. I have had 2 fill (7mls) and am looking forward to the next fill in 3 weeks. Its hard to be patient I know. |

Hello you low BMI people,
Has your weight loss been slow?
I had a fill last week and again 7 days later, I thought that I was doing really well but the scales have not moved in the past 10 days!
Slightly dispondent about this but wanted to ask those who have been banded longer than me (DOB 25th Sept 09).

Hello Lisa
I, too, have put on 3kg after an 'unfill' 3 months ago. Had .5 put in to take me up to 7.9 then 1 ml out the next day after I couldn't swallow (despite the water test at the time). The doctor said the over fill would cause swelling so I needed 1 ml out. Oh the frustration!
Since then I've had two fills of .5 and .3, now up to 7.7 in total, and have much better retriction - but I really have to watch the chocolate craving (I use the 100cal. muesli bars for this). It is good no longer being interested in bread, except for cruskits, and I really can't eat large meals, it's the picking at little things that I have to watch - the dreaded head hunger.
Some of us call them togs over here, too.

Hi there Terratime29,
I have got another appiontment to see the nurse (surgeon's wife) on Thursday 22nd Oct and she may put some more fluid in? Last time I got 2 ml put in and could not drink water so took 1ml out. They may try and put some more fluid in this time - I hope so as I really want to get to that place you are at...the place where you dont hang out for meal times!!
I have gone from 87kg down to 80kg and now back up to 83kg....does not do much for the mental state of mind! Oh I really hope that I can loose this stressed feeling of being hungry!
Gosh, I can't remember the last time I would let myself to be seen in public in bathers!! (In NZ we call them togs!)
Thanks

Libbi,
You got me on to the Opti berry bars when I was doing opti and they saved me from falling off it all. They were so good after having the shakes. |

I was stressed about feeling hungry till I had my last fill, now I never feel hungry. Of course sometimes I still feel like something nice like chocolate etc. But that has never been a hunger issue thats just a craving. I was always a big meal eater and now could not care about eating a meal. I still have a weakness for champagne. I have 7 mls in a 10ml band. I had 4mls placed in at the time of surgery and my 1st fill was 2mls and the 2nd 1ml. I can still eat most things (except bread) so am happy with it. I am booked for another fill in 4 weeks. Will just wait to see how I go. Hopefully after your next fill the hunger will go away. But remember the head hunger will probably never leave us. Try to eat more protein late to help keep you less hungry.
Having an event to look forward to should be a good motivation, Im going away in Jan and promised myself to look Ok in my bathers (and a pair of boardies if needed). |

Hi Terratime29,
I was banded on the 25th September (3 weeks today).
I have a 10ml band and had 3.4ml in it and I had a fill yesterday. I had 2ml put in but had to have 1ml taken out as I could not drink water. So now have 4.4ml in it and still dont have much restiction. I have another appointment next week (Thursday) and will look at putting maybe 0.5ml in and see how that goes.
I am not sure about the feeling, I LOVE the taste of food, I love to eat food....so really really scared of failing as most of my stuff is 'head stuuf' that I need to deal with.
I have noticed that I dont like sweet stuff much anymore, so that HAS to be a good thing!! I physically have to put a small amount on my plate and most nights have to go to bed early as I am soo jolly hungry (oops almost said a naughty word!). The next day I am fine, have a small breakfast, I go really well until lunch and then in the afternoon I struggle right through until I have to put myself to bed!
I have a family wedding in early Jan, I am so looking forward to buying a new dress....this is what I am using to keep me on track - I just hope it lasts...

Kerrie, with a bmi of 33 plus I did 10 days of Optifast which was more bearable than I had thought. The Opti soup is too tedious to mix up so I had Celebrity Slim vege soup with extra veges, plus the heavenly and filling Opti berry and cappucino bars, plus stir-fried veges with a little oyster sauce. Even though I was very strict I lost only two and a half kilos!

Hello, Diana. You must be thrilled! Congratulations! Go back to my post of 13th September (a couple of pages back) and you'll see my (very slow) record of weight loss history. And that's with the almost dead metabolism of a 60 plus year-old. But at least it's been weight loss, slow or not. It's said that one and a half to two kilos per month is average weight loss, so you've already been well above average. Are you shopping, shopping, shopping or still waiting to lose more?

| No My appoinment is Monday October 26th, I personally could not see the point on doing Opi for 6 weeks with a low BMI my GP has had patients that have done 6 weeks but he admitted that they were high BMI. I have been referred to Dr Florica and was wondering if anyone else has had their band done by him. |

| Kerrie, I would be very surprised if anyone with a lower BMI had to do more than 2 weeks of Opti. I live in Melbourne and was banded by Mr Michell (he was great). My BMI was 35 and is now 29, so I am now officially just overweight instead of OBESE (i hate that word). Looking forward to getting into the healthy BMI range. Have you met with a surgeon yet? |
