Hi Andrea,

Hope the pai improves. The suppositories thing made me giggle! I once had a friend who used to use enemas every weekend as erotic foreplay with her husband! YUK! Your story reminded me of them and the look on my hubbys face when he found out! To say he was grossed out is an understatement!

Andrea I felt like that to. I went to a 21st on the Sat after I was banded on the Thurs and ate a bread stick (you know the biscuit type long thin sticks) I started off just dipping into a dip but then it got the better of me and I started to nibble at it!! but I did eat it very slowly cause I was scared theat it may get stuck! I had no problems with it. I'd say it's quite normal to want to put solid food in your mouth, that's what we're used to!

Try sucking on a lollie or icypole maybe???

thanks for that guys. One of the nurses suggested panadol suppositries (something my husband said was NOT in the marriage vows to do) - I tend to agree with him!! - I will try panadeine rapid soluble. I feel funny, not hungry, but wanting to put something solid into my mouth. I suppose that is a normal feeling?

Andrea welcome to the other side!

The pain will ease as each day passes, probably shoulder tip pain which can go to your neck area. Try some panadeine rapid soluble, tastes yuk but works a treat. Couldn't stand the peppermint tea (blah) degas will work well too.

Hi All

Just letting you know I was banded on Thursday morning, everything went okay, was discharged yesterday (fri morning) - felt fine til I got home, then felt a little woozy, went to bed at 2pm and woke up at 7am this morning. Had a drink of fruit juice (small) - 1/2 hour later had a cuppa. Havent had anything since, am about to have a cup of tomato soup. Pain feels a little worse today, has anyone had any pain up their neck, like a real tightening sensation that comes on suddently, lasts for 2-3 seconds and then goes away? Im not gulping my fluids, dont know what could be causing that. I still feel a little unsteady on my feet. I hope that my thursday "buddy" went well - havent heard from you chicko, been thinking of you lots. Take care guys and good luck for everyone next week. Andrea

Hi everyone...

So pleased that everyone is doing ok post op. Gem - 4 sleeps to go!!!! Not long now. I can't wait till you are banded. You have done so well having the wait the extra week. This time next week Gem.....

2 week bandiversary for me today. Celebrated with a morning weigh in - 9.3kgs in total since starting Opti - so 5.3 since op. So happy about that. Went for 15 minute walk on treadmill this morning and then tonight I meet another banded friend at the strand and we walked right along and back again. For those of you that don't know Townsville, it follows the beach and is a beautiful place to walk. Get the ocean breeze and there's people walking, running, riding bikes, kids water park in the middle of it all. Probably about 4klms long maybe?? Could be longer so it was great. We talked so much that we had got to the end before we even noticed!! lol...

This is such an exciting journey and I'm loving every minute of it. On mushies now but still not overly hungry. I did cook and puree before surgery so having those for lunch at work. For tea - wasnt that hungry so had the Tuna & biscuits - chewed the little biscuits really well.. Must also say my bank balance loves my band too!!! No take aways means more money to spend on clothes!! Have to buy some new work pants already tomorrow cause my old ones are nearly fall off me. Now that would be a bad look considering I work with about 20 men!!! lol..

Take care everyone and hope that you all continue with this wonderful success!!!

Cheers
Di

Hey Gem,
Woohoo only 4 sleeps to go, how exciting...I bet you cant wait. I am so glad the hospital part is over for me, I am not much of a patient, I like being at home in my own space. Since reading so much about banding I am amazed at how different things are between surgeons and dietitans. It can be quite confusing, i got quite a bit of info off my dietitian but somehow i dont feel prepared enough, no amount of info is ever gonna be enough for me!!! Will just play it all by ear and see how i go. I am so excited for you Gem, you will be banded before you know it....

stay in touch and let us know how you get on,

Mermaid

Re:Anyone Getting Banded in April??? Reply to this message
Hi there all,

just letting you know that i am home and well, stayed in hospital for two nights, could not wait to get out...just dont like hospitals. Banding went well, still a bit sore. Dressings and stitches came off and out yesterday, tummy is quite tender, the good news is that i am now under 90 kgs, so i lost 4.5 kgs while i was in hospital. We had a 4 hour drive home from the city today so the tummy was not too happy being all crumpled up!!!!I am in my own home now so i am so happy. Just had some very thin tomato soup, it went down quite well, but i cant believe the noises that are coming from stomach!!!

Soph, I am on nourishing fluids for 4 weeks, which does include ice cream woohoo!!!

How are you feeling now??? I cant run a marathon yet but i am feeling pretty good,

Mermaid

Re:Anyone Getting Banded in April??? Reply to this message
Hi Everyone,
I went and bought a new you beaut digital scale and it says I've lost 3kg from what I weighed at the doc office 11 days ago. I took great pleasure in throwing the old one (which only went to 120kg) out, so in reality I don't know what my starting weight was before the opti.
I know that different scales weigh different, but it doen't really matter what the figure is, I already feel my clothes are fitting better. I also bought a belt - hadn't had one of those for years. HA! 6 more sleeps to go Yahhhh
cheers Di

Hi Soph

I found panadeine rapid soluble was great for the shoulder tip pain. Mine lasted around 2 weeks and now I'm up for it again in 2 weeks time!

I will be stocked up with my panadeine for sure!

I had a b o o b reduction many years ago when I was slim but still had big, saggy ones. My surgeon was Richard Maxwell, he works from the Cabrini in Malvern. I cannot speak highly enough of him, he is a perfectionist and did an amazing job. even though I ended up stacking on 30kg they are still perky and the scars barely visible!

Re:Anyone Getting Banded in April??? Reply to this message
Hello all April bandsters

Soph, I also get the slight pain at times, not all the time - I had it a couple of times after going to the shops?

Gemi, you are so close, keep going!

I am 2 weeks banded now and all is going great! I have not lost any more weight this week.
Lost total of 9kg since started Opti, but nothing in the 2nd week after op :(

I am going for my first fill on Monday - hopefully that will help me a little as I am only having 1000 Cal a day and not losing, not gaining either which is good.

I still have a bit of glue on my port site, does anyone else have some left at this stage?

I still get a bit weak when I walk a bit eg. go shopping. I don't stay long and just get what I need but feel a bit weak when I get home??

Di, your weight loss is great! :)

Good luck to all the newly bandeds and soon to be bandsters.

Belvil
