Talking about getting your braclets made smaller, I used to have to really tug and smear my hand with cream to get my engagement ring off if I was having a manicure any time, now it slips around by itself and half the time the stone is at the bottom of my hand because it slips around so easily

Hi all and welcome back Rach!!! Good to hear from you!!
So pleased I posted about the head games cause now I know that I'm not the only one and really am normal!! lol...
Trish - I just read your story! it is beautiful. Argh - I am so going to have many tears as I go through these stories.
I picked up my bracelets today that had to be made smaller. They took 6cm out of each of them! Another one of those little things that we don't think about hey?
Pleased that everyone has had a good week...... I will look for more stories & photos....
Take care everyone

Hiya Rachelle, well done on 30.5kg's, fantastic! Was good to hear from you too, would you be interested in taking part in the book Di is putting together for us April girls? Will be a very inspirational book :-)
Now about the tummy tuck, is it covered my Medicare or do you have to fork out the money yourself? I'm having the same problems than you with the rash, gets really sore and embarrassing...might have a chat with my doc too when I see him next. Thanks for posting the info!
I'm so close to double figures I can taste it...

Hi all,
Have been absent for a while from this thread - I read it often and am inspired by all of you, but when I go to type seem to get distracted by another of lifes crises and never get around to it.
Have managed to lose 30.5 kilos since banding - am happy with that given that our little family has had a particularly tough year. My tummy is hanging like "sleeve of wizard" (as Borat would say!) and is giving me some grief with rashes etc so my banding surgeon has agreed that its time to start looking into a tummy tuck despite still having about another 40kgs to go. Its really band - the skin alone has been estimated to weigh about 10kg. I'm excited as my clothes size up top has dropped from size 26 to an 18/20 - but my pants size is only down to a 22 because of my tummy.
i get the head games issue. Had exactly that conversation last night with Dr and hubby. I just don't see the weight loss when I look in the mirror. Logic tells me that my clothes are smaller and the scales are kinder but I just don't SEE it. In my head I will always be a fat person.
Anyway, once again, congrats to all, thanks for being so inspirational and keeping the thread afloat, will try and pop in more often.

Kazzaa well done!!!!! You've lost a HUGE amount of weight, how do you feel? My god, I sound like AJ from the biggest looser...
Di I forgot to reply to you in regards of NZ and telling your parents or now that your son is coming too....well you know I wouldn't? Thinking it would be such a lovely surprise for them :-) As long, of course, him arriving unannounced wouldn't put them out, they have a spare bed etc?
Starting to look like no matter how much we loose/lose (which is the correct spelling?) head games are going to be ongoing...guess we have to rely on each other and our families to drum it into us: WE ARE NOT BIG ANYMORE, WE ARE "NORMAL". And hopefully the mind will fall into the correct way of thinking eventually.
Happy today, got a flirt on RSVP from a gorgeous, gorgeous dude, unfortunately in Brissy and I'm near Melb so no go there, but made me feel fab that there are nice guys out there :-)
You know guys what else I just realized? Our April thread is the only one still kicking after a whole year :-) We ROCK!

Di I was just reading your post about the "head games" thing and it spoke to me!!
I dont know about everyone else but I am truly my own worst enemy. I'm exercising heaps still because I"m training for this half marathon (and Marion is beating me up twice a fortnight as part of the training program arrgghhhh!!!). But despite all that and despite me knowing with the intellectual part of my brain that I"m no longer the person I was, still I look in the mirror and see her. The old me. The fat me. It's like she's there sort of superimposed over the real image. It's only when I look at a photo of myself that I can truly see the results of the last 10 months or so of hard work.
But I play those head games with myself all the time; it's like I have to torment myself or something. I had a conversation with Marion about this a couple of weeks ago. Still, depsite all the effort and the weight loss and the change of lifestyle I'm still terrified of being without my band, terrified of being without at least some fill in the band. I struggle to get enough calories into me to maintain myself and I"m terrified of having no fill in the band?
I guess this journey is never going to be over for me. I think I have to accept that for the rest of my life I"m going to struggle with body dysmorphia of some degree and will have to constantly watch and be alert to retrograde patterns and behaviors.
How do other's feel about this now that a lot of us are approaching our goal weight? Is it a life time journey? Can you face the prospect of living life without your band or without fill in your band?
Just a question thrown out there because I've been quite introspective this week. Must be PMT!!! Where's my stash of chocolate sustagen??
I'm off to a session with Marion again this morning...one day I"m going to be able to lift both my legs off the ground at the same time (without yellling like I"m being murdered).
Have a great day everyone
Warm fuzzy hugs to all.

Hey 'skinny' mermaid hahaha.....
are you on facebook???? a great place to hook up with others... this time in 6 weeks we will be in new zealand. I HAVE to go shopping now for boots & jeans. Cause it will be cooler over there so good excuse to buy boots. Don't get much opportunity to wear them in north queensland. And of course - jeans!! Might have to get new handbag too..... uuuhhhhmmmm - what else?????
I'm going through that whole head games thing at the moment. I was ironing my jeans this morning looking at them thinking how small they looked and I don't get how I fit these size 12 jeans. Then chatting to people at work and one of the guys said that he is 86kgs or something. Now he is shorter than me - and I don't seem him to be overweight or anything like that. Then I got thinking that I am taller and weigh less - so do I look that small?? Cause my mirror at home certainly doesn't make me look like that!! It is such a strange head game this journey. I also have people telling me that I am getting skinny etc - but from my eyes I still have HEAPS to loose??? Maybe it's time to go back to the shrink now that I am nearing this journey. Maybe its a fear of the unknown of not being self conscious & not struggling/worrying about my appearance etc. For so long I have carried this weight around that I have to re-train myself to look 'normal' whatever the hell that is......
Anyways - thanks for listening - that's my rant for the night!! lol...
Speak to you all later....
Di

Hi everyone!! Neens - I LOVE your new profile photo!!!! You are looking hot! What's this cr4p about looking big beautiful lady!!!! Now that's enough of that talk ok!!!!
I've bloody forgotten who I was going to chat to!! must be old timers setting in!! lol....
I haven't had many of you lovlies send me stuff for our book.... if you don't want to that's fine - if you want to send them in though! I've started getting the formatting together - it's gonna be great!!!!
6 weeks today until I go to nz to see my mummy & daddy!! lol... It was only going to be me - but I gave & booked for the teenager as well. Gee I'm a good mum!!! lol... no really - I put myself on a big guilt trip about leaving him behind. I've got heaps of travel for work over the next 5 weeks and was feeling guilty.. :-( It's what us mums do isn't it? But anyways - he's so excited now to be going to see him nana & grandad, and now he'll be able to go to his cousins 21st as well.... so I have a happy teenager - which is always worth it!! lol...
Take care everyone - hope that you are all having a great week and don't forget to send your stuff through.....
And thank you again for this being such a lovely friendly thread.....
Di
