Gee - I don't get on the net for one night and look at all the activity I missed out on!!! lol...
Neens - beautiful Neens - lovely lady - be yourself - everything else will be fine. I can't wait to hear all the details though. When you meeting him?
I will send the update for the book today if I get time. If not I will do it on the weekend for sure. Sorry lovely ladies - I've just got so much going on with work at the moment that the stress levels are well above where they should be. Band is as tight as (insert your own saying here cause mine won't get through the yahoo guidelines) after a fill last week but more because of the stress levels. I must say that I am very grateful for it especially now because I can't comfort eat!
And hubby has his 5 mates arriving today through to next Monday for a fishing, partying weekend before I fly out Monday night to Mt Isa. So it's all go for me and I'm so counting down to my trip to NZ. Can't wait to get to mum and dad's for some TLC! lol.. doesn't matter how old we get when times are tough we still want our parents hey......
Take care all and we will chat soon......
Di

Nina!!!! stop panicking! Breath girl breath!
Right now you're breathing...just keep reminding yourself that you are a fabulous person and the guy you are meeting is a lucky lucky man and should be grateful to you.
OK OK that may be a little over the top....seriously, I know how nerve wracking dating can be, especially when you add that whole "internet" thing to it.
So here's a list of rules I always follow
Never give out personal information to "internet" dates until you've known them in real life for a while. (I always explain this a bloke and if he's not happy with that I walk away)
Be yourself but dont give him your complete life history in the first 5 minutes (you want something to talk about on your second date)
Wear something you are really comfortable with, you dont want to be distracted by abstract thoughts about clothing and whether you're blouse is too low cut etc.
Take your own transport. Never EVER let him drive you home at this stage. You dont want freaks and weirdo's knowing where you live.
Relax, breath, be yourself and most of all have a GREAT time. Enjoy that exciting nerve wracking feeling, it's kind of like being 16 again.
Let us know how you go.

Gerry, what a fantastic support network you are going to have around you!! *giggle* It is just so helpful to have someone sitting beside you going "dont forget to chew chew chew". Seriously!!!!!! It's still something I have to be reminded about (I hate puking).
All the best to all of you!

A cuppa is good... my girlfriends who are divorced and doing the dating thing again say it is a great way to go...
Just be yourself... as nervous as you are sure to be... just be who you are and that is the best thing.
Good luck and good on you for getting out there. It may take more than one cuppa, but being out there is a big step. Enjoy it for what it is... and go with no expectations.

My daughter was 20 when banded, about 2 months before her 21st. She is gorgeous, but she is not tall... only about 5'3" and suffers from very severe PCOS. She only had about 30kg to lose, but on the short frame, that was enough to cause problems for her.
She is slowly losing. She does not have a lot of restriction due to being about 2.5 hours drive from Sydney... she is at uni at Bathurst. She is doing the slow and steady and doing very well.
My brother visits this forum a bit, he is being banded next Monday here in Sydney.

Hi Mel,
Do you mind me asking how old your daughter is, my darlin daughter is 20 and looking forward to being more beautiful for her 21st dday in Sept. (to me she is gorgeous on the inside and of course in her mum's eyes is a beautiful caterpillar about to transform into a more beautiful butterfly).
It is harder to find someone young who has experienced life with a lapband, so if your daughter would like to reply or even chat with my daughter that would be great as the doc has told Hayley that her journey will be entirely different from mine.
Best wishes,
Gerry |

Mel,
thats fantastic. as positive support makes it all so much easier.
I am from a family where every-one is skinny. had my sister told me it was the easy way out.
My hubby is overweight not by a huge amount, but he won't do anything about it.
my kids are brilliant even though they are slim.
my daughter is 173 tall and weighs 60 kilos on a heavy day !!! and wears all size 10. as does my mother sister and my sister in law eats like there is no tomorrow and all the rubbish, she is also 173 tall and weighs in at 49 kilos. |

Gerry I actually had goosebumps reading your message, so glad you and your family are taking charge of your lives... Believe me it'll be a fantastic journey for you all, ups and downs, yes... but in the end all worth it plus more :-)
Mel I didn't realize your family members are getting banded too! Have to agree with family support being the best, what an unbelievably positive journey you are taking together...
My last fill has certainly kicked in, had 1/2 cup of Tuna Mornay and feel like I've had Christmas dinner...no late night snacking for me!

Thanks Nina,
I am going to try and endevour to do my own site also, have sort of started it, as not only am I being banded on the 6th April, but my beautiful daughter Hayley is being banded with me and later on in May or early June my hubby of 23yrs is also being banded.
So we will be a family banded together.
I haven't heard of many other families so far that have taken the journey together, so we are probably unique.
My son 19yrs so far is a little over weight but with the enthusiasm in our household at the moment has already shed a couple of kgs. So hopefully we will be very healthy family in 12mths time.
Best wishes,
Gerry |

This forum has been an eye opener for me, I took the time to make the decision and weighed up the pros and cons. I'm looking forward to the operation and my 'new' life. |

Yay Neens - that's great about your fill. I'm sure it will all help now. Did you book in again for a months time - just in case?? And I had to double read your post to make sure I read right - you're enjoying the walking??? WTF?? lol.. that's great for you.....
I'm down to 79kgs now - 52.5kgs gone forever! Hit my goal of losing 52kgs by my bandiversary - so pretty happy with that. Only 4kgs to goal now. Under a fair bit of stress at the moment with work and I'm loving my band that I'm not eating shlt to get me through it!! The next week will be full on work wise. Plus hubby has got 5 mates arriving tomorrow for the weekend. They are going away for a couple of nights - but tomorrow night they will be in full on party mode. Anyway - that's ok - he puts up with me! lol... this time in 2 weeks i will be on a plane to NZ to see my mum & dad so that's keeping me going at the moment.....
Anyways - that's enough of my dribble..... have a great day and we will chat later!!
Cheers

Ellee looking forward to "seeing" you too :-) How did the camping trip go?
Just got home from a fill, up to 7ml now. Can't tell yet how it's gone but will keep you guys up to date...got 0.5ml's added and I'm usually quite sensitive to fills. Had a drink of water afterwards and gulping is definitely out! Hoping this will kickstart the weigh loss again...fingers crossed.
Dare I say it girls...I'm starting to enjoy walking! Couldn't go this morning because of appointments and feeling really restless. Never EVER thought I'd use the two words in the same sentence, enjoy and exercise!
Hope everyone is well,
Nina |
