Food, food, glorious food!!! I've had my first proper meal since Sunday week and I'm feeling great! So I did get an appointment with another surgeon for an unfill, he ended up taking off a whole 1ml. Another appt in 2 weeks to put some fill back in but I'm just so glad I can eat! He suspects there was a blockage because today I couldn't even swallow my own spit properly. And Trish...babe you know me, a kick in the butt and a good talking to IS what I need every now and then! Oh by the way, the weight loss was fantastic... gone to 97.4 so I've lost more than 4kg's in 3wks...have to do the proper maths later.
Gerry who's going first, you or your daughter?

Hi Nina,
Firstly l think you should go and get the unfill. I went 2 weeks with an overfill it was yuck, besides that you can burn your insides with reflux.
You should not be PBing with every meal, It cant be good for you where is all the goodness from your food going???
but thats enough of the lecture.... lol
I agree if there are no sparks dont try and force things move on to the next guys, there are plenty of them out there.
Take care

Gerry what a bummer...and what are the odds of something like that happening! Then again, everything happens for a reason and I'm really glad to hear you don't have to wait long. Keep us updated :-)
Beautiful Di, have the time of your life and enjoy the attention you will be getting! Remember how hard you have worked for the past year and relish in every bit of positive feedback coming your way :-)
Now guys, I seem to have an overfill. Keep getting reflux every night and it's getting worse...might need to get a small unfill soon. I'll try and hang on for a month because the scales are moving again and I really want to drop 8kg's so I can visit my surgeon for plastics... what are your thoughts guys? How long can I put up with reflux without doing damage? Food is not going down too well either, pb's after every meal BUT that's also because I'm not eating slow enough.
Oh..and thanks so much for the advice about dating you all! I went to have a cuppa with one dude a week ago. Fantastic man but not the one for me, no spark at all. On to the next one!

Hi everyone!!
Thought I would check in before I fly out to see my family in NZ tomorrow morning. I am soooooooooooo excited about going to see everyone. I have seen lots of close friends and hubby's family since my op, but this is the first time that I will see any of my immediate family since before my surgery!!!!! I am so excited to see what their reactions are going to be. It will be just fantastic and I think a nice way for me to be within my goal range. I am now sitting on 77.5kgs so I have lost 54kgs since surgery. I am also 2.5kgs away from goal. Had my 12 monthly appointment with my surgeon today. He is very pleased with me. Apparently I am a 'low maintenance' sort of patient!! Maybe he should speak to my husband about that!! hahaha Meet my bestie, Renee, down the pub for lunch today which was a great way to start the holiday. Yummy garlic prawns..... such a favourite. So - it is going to be a very emotional and exciting week. I will be taking lots of photos of I promise to put them on my blog and facebook when I return.
Hope that you all have a fantastic Easter!! Chat to you when we get back.
Take care and I will be thinking of you all........
Di

Hi everyone,
Well we didn't get any phone calls from the docs office so our new date is the 16th April, we will have to wait another week and a half. This time the surgery will be done at the Friendlies hosp. another private hosp. and a newer facility. So everything should go according to plan.
Thanks everyone for your support.
Best wishes,
Gerry |

What an excellent start to your weightloss Gerry, those kgs are gone forever. It must be so disapointing not to have your surgery, lucky you were not in the middle of it when the power went off, lol. Let us know when you are going in for your op. Your poor daughter must of had a shock.
take care and good luck

Hi guys and gals,
Am a little down today as Hayley and I were supposed to have our surgery today. We arrived at the hosp. got into our sexy not gowns, cap, stockings don't you just luv them ahaaa. I was wheeled off to surgery and waited from 7.50am till 8.40am only to be told by my doc that they were having power problems and he wouldn't be doing the surgery today. At first I thought he was joking with me to break the ice so to speak, only to realise no c rap he wasn't.
Poor Hayley got a worse fright as she was waiting with my hubby and our son, and didn't see the doc walk up to her until he touched her on the arm and said," Hayley there's been a problem", she thought what tha hang on a minute aren't you supposed to be operating on my mum right now. You see Hayley is in her 3rd yr of nursing so the worst thoughts came to her mind. Poor kid.
He then went on to explain the power problem. So any way we waited around for another 1/2 hr just in case they fixed the problem, but in the end had to cancel. They were hoping we might be done at another hosp tomorrow but we haven't heard anything so we have been rescheduled in for the 16th April.
On the brighter side I have now lost 7.3kgs and Hayley has lost 6.1kgs.
But when we got home George decided to cook some boiled peanuts, now guys my luv is anything savoury, so I had a little binge not to bad but was annoyed with myself. But I have the right mind set now and the d amn peanuts can stay there. I WILL conquer. LOL
Thanks for your support everyone, especially you Di.
Sooo look forward to being a bandit.
Luv,
Gerry |

Hellloooooo Everyone
So glad to see everyone is doing well and the weight keeps moving in the right direction!
Beth, I am sending your family lots and lots of prayers and hugs.
I am doing really well with my bandy and is now on maintenance. Doctor took 1 ml out so that I can eat more. My weight dropped to 60kg which is too low for me and yes, guess what!!! I had to start buying butter and full cream milk to add a bit of calories LOL! I chose Woolworths cream desserts and had some everyday, now back to 62kg, some days 61kg. Most days I can eat anything, still only small amounts, if I have more than 1/2 to 3/4 cup at any time, discomfort sets in so I have adjusted to eating small meals 5 times a day with a bit of pudding for late snack.
I also get reflux and acid bubbling up in my throat only when I have my periods and am not taking the active pill. As soon as I take the active pills again it stops and bandy is happy again - Weird! On those days I make myself some porridge for dinner and I have it around 6pm and then nothing after, not even water. It is hard but the discomfort of bubbling acid in my throat choking me when I sleep is worse. My band just does not like me having any periods at all!
Congratulations on every April beauty, we came a long way and it sure was worth it.

Thank you Nina,Trish, Mermaid, Ellee and Di for your kind words. It is going to be a hellish time ahead and I can only say thank God for Effexor and God him/herself. I don't know how people get through tough times without recourse to a faith of some kind, the pills help but praying also provides a degree of comfort that medication alone cannot fix.

Hi All
Congratulations to everyone on your great losses.
What a year it has been.
i had hoped to be 25k lost by the 14th but it is unlikely.
We have had an awful blow to the family with my very healthy mother just diagnosed with an inoperable tumor on her pancreas. Absolutely devastated. Weight loss seems a mute issue compared to what I know awaits her in coming weeks/months.
Prayers gratefully accepted.

Hi Nina,
I work with my hubby's family, so cant really tell them to piss off, although some days l could. lol
I am in the middle of my cycle and thats why the band is so tight, on top of the stress not a good combination. I am here having a cup of soup and even it hurts this morning.
I get reflux but only when my band is tight, l uaually try a glass of milk first and then l head for the gaviscon tablets. I hate it.
have a great day

Hi there Col,
thanks for that advice, it was quite funny cause I was in Adelaide for an awards ceremony and it was meant to be a big spiffy night out and I had the worst reflux ever, my friend gave me one of their somac tablets. Under normal circumstances I never would take someone elses medication but I was desperate, it was like a bloomin miracle. And I still feel good 3 days later, gotta get me some of them.
Hope that everyone is doing good, got 10 days to my bandy birthday, woooohooooo

Trish I'm the same, band is really tight but that's how I need to have it for a while to kick start the weight loss again. Do you get reflux? I seem to be suffering from it for the first time in my life...will put up with it for another 2 weeks but if it gets worse have to take a smidgen out. How to cut stress in your work life...tough one if not impossible? I'd suggest meditation...take 5 minutes to yourself and really concentrate on emptying your mind. Not always viable I know...but noticed that helps me out a lot. OR just tell everyone who's pissing you off to bugger off and leave you alone! That ALWAYS works :-)
