Good Evening Doreen,
I just thought I'd pop in with a comment after reading your last post.
I have felt that I have 'wasted' the years since my GP first recommended lap banding. I, too, did the diet, naturopath, etc etc thing and then put the weight all back on plus. The thing is that that time wasn't wasted. I know I personally had to go through all those options until I could make this operation decision without wondering with I should have tried harder. Do you know what I mean? I suppose I am saying that I want to think of those years in a positive light; as a path I HAD to tread to get here - there were no shortcuts. You have to know what it is like to be sick to appreciate being healthy. You have to be sad to understand being happy. When you have lived as an obese person, you feel how good slim and healthier is! I just need the band to stay there! :)
Very Pollyanna of me, isn't it. Got to see the silver lining in the clouds; hate to regret.

cat ,
thanks ,we all need to be positive ,
thats the best way to get this dam weight off
and of course our band ,helps keep it off, lol,
I would not be without it ,
best gift (I ever gave me )
and
best money (I have ever spent ),
I think all the positive people who encouraged me ,
really helped me heaps especially in the early days ,especially ,mel and pyretta
(and many others who rarely or no longer post on here)
Really ,thats why I stick around ,
hoping to encourage any new ones ,
my way of ,sort of paying my dues, for others helping encourage me ,
My life is great now and I feel so healthy ,
I really feel years younger than preband,
I turned 46 this week and feel better /healthier than I did at 26
I have only one regret about banding
and
that is I wish ,I did it yrs ago,
I took almost 8yrs thinking ,about it ,
I wasted those yrs ,dieting ,gaining etc and making excuses why it was too drastic and how I could do it myself ,
yes ,I could loose ,just could never ,keep it off
funny thing is
I still find it crazy , that a tiny bit of silicone can change our lifes so much, stay healthy ,Doreen |

Doreen,
Nice to see that your thread is getting back to its former glory.
There's many new prospective banders that seem to appear every day.
All the best,
Cat |

corrine
glad you are getting some restriction ,do you have much fill?
chewing heaps till like food is like smooth peanut butter thats the key ,
and always eating protein first fills better ,so thats my way ,anyways
(skin wise)
taking my time with the weight loss (av 1/2 to 1kg week )
and also the time and exercises done since
my weight loss ,time has made a lot of difference ,
I guess I am lucky as my skin has gone back heaps now ,arms are good (and getting better constantly),
tummy could be trimmed on one side to tidy up my previous tummy tuck ,(from 8yrs ago )and(I only have to pay for the annisetist, so will get it redone next year,)
I am in no rush for the pain ,lol,
so will wait till winter
top of legs is my main worry ,so will get them done but again ,its a winter job
I may get boobs done later but with a well fitted bra I am happy ,
(clothes wise)
I am so happy (size 8,s mainly) it still is almost 27 and a few of my clothes ,were getting loose so thats part of the reason ,why I got a bit of fill out
crazy thing is I used to have trouble finding nice size 22/24 clothes but I am also finding It is hard finding smaller than size 8,clothes ,lol,(never thought I would be saying that,
my wardrobe is now overflowing ,in 8's so I want to stay around this weight ,size /wise and also I have spent more on quality items now I am lower sized ,but stuck to the kmart /target stuff whilst I was loosing but now want to stay this size to get wear of better quality, longer lasting stuff
I had my birthday this week and just went for dinner and got my nails done ,I do them fnightly anyways since I got banded ,(was worried about chewing them lol),
and cash ,
I will put the money I got towards the 11 rings I have to resize ,I lost 2 during my weightloss sadly ,so took my others off and recently got a few clips but want them resized now ,as I want them back on ,
anyways ,stay heathy Doreen |

mel ,
I am going well thanks ,for asking ,
I had to go interstate again ,(26th nov til 1st )dec
I flew into newcastle ,(hired a tarago )
I had to go just out of gosford ,sydney ,and canberra area all in 5 days ,was so busy but all is well now
(dad was not well ,he is 74 )
I am not sure if you remember ,but he was attacked
(pistol whipped )earlier this year during a home invasion and still is having extreme headaches etc
I also wanted to see an uncle ,dads twin, his wife ,my godmum, died a few weeks back ,so I wanted to see my uncle also ,
since I was that far ,I even went to taronga zoo with 6 kids in tow last friday ,in the rain ,but at least kids can say they did something exciting ,
(((((bandwise )))
I got .5ml out a few weeks ago and have eaten stuff ,
I have not touched in ages ,
including pizza
corn on cob ,and chinese with batter (sweet and sour pork/honey chicken etc )
so far weight is staying with in 1to 2 kg range up and down ,(I was down to 65kg )around 66 at moment
but hunger is not really back, surprizingly
but ,I have been still eating my proteins first,
so maybe thats helped to keep me feeling full ,
hope all is going well for you
and you sort that band out soon ,stay healthy ,Doreen
((mel how did the party go)) |

Corrinne,
Can you eat homemade stew and mashed veg? Can you eat salad with dressing? If you can't keep veg and salad down you should go back to the doctor. I have an over fill at the moment and seem to be eating rubbish non stop! I did manage some lettuce and dressing last night so maybe things are changing for me.
Good Luck,

How are you Doreen... all good I hope. I am battling on a bit with no fill in... it is a pig-a-thon actually, but I am trying to pig out on good stuff, not bad stuff. I did have a filet mignon last night... yum! Still only managed half of it, could have kept going with a bit of a break, but decided to move it away from me. I did have a bit of mash with it, and some zucchini. Unfortunately, I did eat fish and chips Monday... far out!!!! Not good, but my oh my was it delicious.
Lets get things back to how they should be, I enjoy reading your posts, but I was waiting for you to start it back up, not someone else.
Best wishes,
Mel |

you are ,going well, hope you are enjoying the new you ,
I also did this page
it was supportive stuff ,that helped and worked for me until someone deliberatly set out to destroy it
the oldest 6 pages were mainly just chatting to a few ladies, then diary type things that assisted me , the last few pages are mainly cut and pasted rot from someone else
sadly ,it has defeted my purpose of it being done here for a support page ,anyways cannot delete anything
height 157cm
size 22/24
start 110kg :((BMI 44.63)
banded (1/10/07) at 104 kg
size ,mostly all 8's now :)
((((65kg bmi 26.4)))
I still think my positive thinking is best key to this ,Doreen |

hi angie ,
yes ,I remember ,
I thought about getting banded for so long (almost 8yrs)and pulled out a few times
kind of glad I did , bands are so much better now ,
but it really is the only way to lose and maintain ,
I could always lose but not maintain ,
I hope this helps me,
so far so good ,Doreen |
