Just browsing the net and came across the comment, im sure someone on here will know if this is correct

* If you loose more than 50kg, you can have the skin folds surgically removed for free. It is 100% covered by Medicare. The reason being as its not classified cosmetic surgery (compared to someone who wants a tummy tuck for example).

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
WOW! thanks guys just read some of those results, I am currently 155kgs(for about the third time in 4 years) i remember the last time i got down to 120kgs and could not seem to fit any more exercise and dieting in. I had given up cause i had what seemed to be no life!. The wife asked me if i thought i could ever be 80kgs again and i said "that would be impossible i dont think my body will allow me to" now i see those results i am dead keen to get it off!!

Thanks again!

jabba,

Unfortunately we can't upload photos here but there are a lot of other forums that most of us are on as well that also have photo sections.

I have bumped the 'weigh in - weight loss so far' thread. I think this is what you are after.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
hi
i should have said bali fanta is almost nil bubbles! they must have left them out:) its great to drink and you can get it from anywhere almost from the kwikimarts there to, i find its the safest and cleanest thing to drink while there and I go often so lesson learnt! I cant drink fizzy here in OZ unless I let it go flat first.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi Everyone,

I and brand new to the forums and due to be banded on the 13th Aug 09. I was reading the NSV threads which are great but wondering if there is a (Scale Victory thread. Whereas people put only the Starting weight, length of time since op, current weight etc... and perhaps some photos?? Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I have no trouble with carbonated drinks.
I don't drink of lot of it, but at times I have had diet coke, lemon lime bitters, and soda water.
I don't gulp it down and only just sip away.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Jodine,

You mentioned fanta, does that work out okay since it's carbonated? I've been told no carbonated drinks and I'm too scared to try them. Thanks.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi
I recently went to bali and i had 3mil out efore i left and it was fantastic, I didnt put on weight I lost it, but please a peice of advice only drink the strawberry or raspberry fanta, it keeps the lining on your stomach in case you do get sick and its not as gasy as other drinks. I ate mostly steamed rice with garlic and chicken or fish but loved it. I had my fill put in about a month after I got home as it does take a bit to get use to again. Dont eat the crackers or prawn crackers they expand in your stomach and if in the top half it will be painful later!
have an awsome trip, i was thinking of going myself!

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Lyn,

what you are experiencing is very normal. it can take a while to get the right level of fill for some people. You will find as the band tightens you will have to change the way you eat. Try booking your appointments for every 2 weeks in advance if your surgeon will let you.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
kym,

You may have to experiment with the way you cook the meats and the sauces that you use. A lot of people have issues with red meat, but most of the time it can be overcome by adding sauces, taking very little nibbles, slow cooking or making sure the steak is rare.

I hope you can find a solution for yourself.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Colleen.
If I were you and going overseas for a trip especially to Bali, or other countries that have no clue of banding. Then also with the fact you can't eat until 3 pm.and it doesn't always stay down. I would get some fill out.
after all thats what the adjustable band is for.
I have often had a tiny bit out when I have surgery as I find my band is always tight after any type of surgery.
I feel life is for living and not being able to eat on holiday to me would be awfull.
thats just my thoughts, of course you do what's most conmfortable for you.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi Lyn,

I had to wait until my 3rd fill before I felt any real restriction. My surgeon makes me wait aaaaagggges between fills too, 8 weeks between 1st and 2nd, and 3 monthly now, thank God after 3 fills I have pretty good restriction!!! I wouldn't be worried yet, I had NONE at all till my 3rd fill, and am pretty happy now. I've lost 35kg in 8 months - very happy. It won't happen overnight, so be patient. It will happen. :o) All the best, and don't stress, it all takes time....

Cheers,
Renae

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
I wonder if it is just me who has an issue with red meat?
I only have 5 mls in my band (until i get another fill this week) and I can't get red meat down full stop except mince. Maybe it's karma for I used to eat red meat about $8.00 or stir fry or $12.00 steak for green curry all to myself nearly every night for years. The animal world is getting back at me lol
I do wish I could eat a small steak with my husband though. I feel bad I won't cook it for him.
