Chris,
That's exactly why I was thinking of going to weight watchers, I find it really hard going between monthly visits with the my surgeon's practise nurse and I thought attending WW might get the motivation revved up again. I've hit that stage where I wonder is it all worth it - I know it is - but my stupid head keeps telling me to eat.
Might join up if they do start a meeting at where I work just to help me keep on track. I wish I was strong enough to do it without WW but I just really want to make this band work.

the peanut butter thing is an ad thats on the top of the yahoo page...
im supposed to START mushies on monday, so i still have two whole weeks...i never thought of mash banana, i will try that, and egg definitely.
i may not drink too much between meals, but only cause it tends to make me hungry....and i dont really take a lot of time eating, cause at this stage i am only eating a couple of spoonfulls of mash potato...
what about the frozen meals, like healthy choice and stuff..would i need to blend something like that, like the lasagne, or could i try it on its own?
do we have mushies so our pouch doesnt stretch or cause our tummies are still tender?
thanks for your advice deb, huggles straight back at ya!! |

ooh.. and I have no idea what your on about with the peanut butter thing lol
Not drinking with eating gets easier, as soon as your finished get up and do something, before long the hour has passed.
Are you taking your time eating? |

lizzie lizzie lizzie...your offer of taking over my prayer duty was too good to knock back!
Tell Aunty Deb, whats the problem? Mushies?
Are you using squashed tomatoes with your mush? They became my friend. Eggs, scrambled or poached and mushed up. If you have a slow cooker, do your meat in there as a casserole, that way its very tender and you can have mostly the gravy.
Oh.. stewed fruit was a good one for me too. More for the taste than anything.
I have to admit at one point I did spy the table leg with the salt in my hand but that passed.
Drink before you eat, that helps to solve the drinks problem and on that note.. are you drinking enough btwn meals?
Mashed banana was a nice change too.
Thicken your soups, have lots of different mashed vegies, sweet potato is a nice one, mashed peas in with your spuds?
How much longer do you have on mushies?

Good luck with your choice to be banded. the only thing I would add if you do have complications (as I did) the doctor shouldn't be chargin you more than the medicare rebate for them - mine didn't. You would have to pay any hospital costs though.
Good luck

hey jimmy, i just read somewhere you are nervous. you have done so well so far, i just know you will be great at this, and that you will make it work for you! nothing will stop you being nervous, but it really is not so bad. in the scheme of things, a few weeks of uncomfort (not a real word, i know) that will fade in the memory, will be so worth it!!
meanwhile, just thought you might take a leaf out of my darling hubbys book, he treated himself to a night at hollywood last night with his mates because he had been such a good boy helping me out lately!!! what a loser!! lol
(assuming cause you are from brissie you know what hollywood is!!) |

Can somebody save my bacon. I found a recipe on here a while ago for cauliflower patty's I just looked in the recipe section and it is not there. I am sure Pyrettas name was associated with it, she either made them or enjoyed them at a get together and somebody then posted the recipe for them. I have now found vegetarian bacon so thought yesssssssss I can make these for the entire family as they all like cauliflower mash from my low carb days. If anybody can repost or tell me what thread this recipe was under I would so appreciate it.

Hi Danna - I've been thinking about doing something similar. I think I miss the weekly weigh-in associated with most weight loss routines. It'd be good if someone would start up something like that for bandsters in their own areas..I might see if anyone in my area is interested in doing that..might help us stay on track when we are struggling with the brain hunger thing.

| Not sure if this helps but... I am also self funded and my surgeon has advised that his quote is for all related visits such as fills etc. The only thing it doesn't cover is complications. |

hey danna
don't be sorry!
I've had a few of the ww frozen meals since banding, they are a good size and to be honest they are helpful in replacing take away when I am too stuffed from work. They go down well so far. But I haven't followed any of the ww directions as such.
good luck! |

Sorry to this conversation, but wanted to ask if anyone had followed the Weight Watchers diet since banding. There is one opening at my office soon and I thought it might help keep me on track between visits with my Dr - I was banded at the beginning of December - and I need to keep the motivation going.
Any opinions on whether WW works with the band etc?

Aww Jimmy, don't be scared, its a whole new start for you!
and besides, going by the banded nurses thread there is enough of us around who could care for you, we have experience in shaving, suppositories and handing over lovely gowns with an escape hatch at the back.
I don't think any of us would hold back on your pain relief.. for long.
seriously though, all the very best for Thursday and by this time next weekend you won't know yourself!
I"m so excited for you
hugs

Maree, when I tried to upload my pic on yahoo I was told that that feature was being cancelled. You could change your pic if you had uploaded one before but if you hadn't ever uploaded one then that was bad luck. I was under the impression that from around Nov last year it wasn't available at all for anyone, with a pic or not.

Hi Tina
If you want to only exercise within the home grounds, what about walking around the clothesline. Do you remember the story about the lady, who just did that a while ago, she got quite a bit of attention from the media.

Yes that's it Krispy K! I have tried to explain these to people in SA but they just don't know about them. I have seen people bringing big boxes of them on the plane from Melb. They are such a big deal..,,,,I tasted one but not a big fan - lucky for me!
thanks Aly. |
