Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Bel,

You will find that with a 10ml band, adjustments will mainly be made in the 1ml or .5 ml range where as with a 4ml band adjustments will be made with the.2 or .1 ml range.

Some think the bigger band allows for better adjustment but when you are talking such minute amounts it really is just a matter of fractions regarding fills to find just the right spot for you.

Thanks for your answer Sue and mjw
Another thing I am wondering is with say for instance a 4ml band and a 10ml band, would they give the same restriction even if one then has less space to fill up with saline?

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi Belvil

My surgeon also decided on the day, and yes, he had a selection available in the surgery to choose from. He said it depended on the physical size of the stomach - which has nothing to do with our external measurements. So when he gets in there he assesses the stomach and chooses the right size band for the job.

He should be able to tell you after surgery what size he used.

All the best for 2nd April

Cheers
Sue

Sally, I really like your theory - and it definitely explains the ridiculous amount of underwear I've been buying lately.

Belvil, I'm sorry, but I have no idea how to answer your question - I asked my surgeon and he told me I had the swedish band (abba?) which is one size only.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi everyone

Please can anyone tell me what size bands they have? How does the doctor decide what size to put in? I phoned my surgeon's receptionist and she said that he decides on the day, does that mean he has a variety at the operation table?? I am getting banded on 2 April and I was just wondering about the different size bands and if they make a difference?
Thanks
Belvil

There are heaps of lovely shops there that DON'T sell food and we will have more money to spend at them because of the money we save on food. That's my theory anyway and I'm sticking to it!)

Next time I go I might just have to stick to coffee then. Of course, then I'll go across the road and spend a fortune at the bookshop.

We have been to Beechworth. Visited the lolly shop but mainly bought a few treats for the kids. Did get a little handmade fudge as a treat for after tea:) Just read George Fielding's article that people have told me about. WWow. Loved it. Will save it to my favourites and print off for the few I am telling about my banding.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Yes, hopefully wifey will bring me some tasty morsel when she gets back from from her DVD night out.

The weight loss has been really amazing, all my friends can't believe the difference. Four of them are actually doing the Opti fast diet, hee hee... suckers. I have been a little tired but today I actually feel like I'm getting back to my normal self.

So far I've been having yoghurts, mexi beans, spaghetti and I made a casserole that is like the fish n loaves thing as it never seems to run out. I also have 1 and a half weet bix for brekky. Oh yeah, I've had some bananas mixed with custard and a little ice cream. So many little meals, it's kinda cool.

Why don't you jiminy? If i don't treat myself, i binge, so i make sure i treat myself (probably too regularly lately, but still!!)

I heard about your weight loss too, you have done amazing!! How are you feeling beside the eating thing?

Meanwhile, i'm not one to comment on that, as i couldn't stay on mushies, it seemed so pointless to me, i had a real problem sticking to it when normal food accidentally jumped in my mouth and jumped down my throat!!
I found a few other yummy things to have for mush though, are you varying your meals? what are you having besides potato?

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Heh heh, fair enough. So your first fill huh, heard it was a big one too. 4ml? Hmmm, I can't wait to have my first fill. Food seems to be just jumping down my throat again. I'm trying hard to eat a half a cup of mush, over 30 mins but it's near bl-oody impossible. I'm done in about 10 to 15 mins. I mean there's no chewing to do, it just jumps in and slides down me neck, hmmmm. Am I doing something wrong? Anyway, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it sooner or later.

How are you coping with your fill? Did you notice much of a difference? I've been so good I just wanna a Freddo Frog or something like that to suck on. Hee hee, bad bad kitty!
