ya think the ambo's would have taken him too, muscle cramps can be pretty painful tell her to drink more apparently they are cos not enough fluids, today I would be buying her some gatorade to make sure it doesn;t happen again. And how long will this lil nanny lap last, I am up as I just cannot stop thinking about LAPBAND and my daughter (21mths) is off to Kindy for four hours today so I will get some shopping done etc while in town as we live 30 mins away

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
speaking of mothers I got hauled out of bed at 11.50 last night by a phone call by my distraught father saying my mother had been rushed to hospital in horrible pain. He is too old to drive so my 18 year old daughter and I did the 20 minute trip to his place, picked him up and we all raced in to the hospital...

It was muscle cramps! They discharged her at 3.30 with some panadol... it wasnt worth me going to bed as I get up at 5.. by the time I took them home tucked them in bed and did 20 minutes back to my place it was breaky for the rest of the clan... guess what Im doing today...yep nice lil nanny nap on the lounge!

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Nic that is a downer...but maybe you will be one of the lucky ones that will still be able to manage it. It would be prime and tender too...and see the gravy will be good cause they say you can eat most stuff if it has gravy.. not the chips tho..and you will have to wait a month or two..But maybe soon after that you can...I sure hope so because that feed sure does sound gooooood.

Well done, don't tell her otherwise, I haven't told my mum as she would just panic and negative oh boy not what you need when you are making such changes to your life. Did I tell you that I own (all though small 42 breeders) a beef cattle farm, so in 31 days I will no longer be able to have an eye fillet, hot chips and pepper gravy, what am I doing. Nic

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
LOL I am glad your mum is more supportive now, but the news is slightly wrong about the lap band being the only known cure for diabetes, vertical sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch and RNY bypass actually have a higher and quicker rate of success with diabetes reversal than the band.

In fact, the DS is so effective for most people with diabetes (within days for many) when there is minimal weightloss that htere has to be some other mechanism involved (which they don't yet understand). Not every diabetic is 'cured' but the stats are exceptionally good (like over 90%) for those that have been diabetic for less than 5 years.

Hey Gem - me too, me too.
I too thought it was some odd quirk of my own. It takes a couple of blinks, but all good after that. Can be a cuppa or soup, any hot drink.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Brooke, there is a separate thread on Dr Winnett. I am sure you will get answers there. You are not the only one to complain about the receptionist.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Gem,

The foggy eye ball thing was on Triple J a few weeks ago. Someone rang dr Carl about it. It was on either the 16 or 17th Apri. Perhaps you could pod cast what he said. i would head to the zan rowe guest book and ask her about it. I didn't hear the response as to why because I had to get out of the car.

But it seems like you are not the only one who gets it.

Cheers Soph

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Brooke,

I would also tell the Dr that his receptionist is difficult to talk to - receptionists are the face of any business and a bad one could cost him money.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Brooke,
No one will be bale to tell you how long your wait will be as it depends how busy your surgeon is at the time and if there is a bed at the hospital of your choice etc. Some surgeons put you in the next week, where as others like you to wait a few weeks, especially if you need to do Optifast before hand.
As for not wanting to call back....... it really doesn't matter how rude the receptionist is, she has to answer your questions! It is not a silly thing to ask for, a quote for out of pocket expenses, you may even find that they have a general quote written out as a blue print and will post it to you. This was the case with my doctor.
I can't see a way around it, you will have to call back! You will be fine. Make a list of everything you want to know and you will be fine. If the receptionist is trying ot get you off the phone simply say "You sound like you are very busy, is there someone else who there who would know more about it"..... that should annoy the cr*p out of her!!!
Good Luck,
Madonna

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Gem, sounds like you need some saline type eye drops just to give your windows a clean. I use them all the time, but my lubricating ducts don't work any more in my eyes.

Re:General Chat #4 Reply to this message
Hi Brooke, I think I am from another state than you (WA). You are the customer, be brave, ask questions, no one can read your mind.

In the meantime someone from your area or who knows that doc may come in and respond.

All the best with it.
