Sounds like an overfill Michelle. You shouldn't be that uncomfortable. I'd get straight back on to your doctor a.s.a.p. It's amazing what a difference.25 of a ml makes. I had that taken out from an overfill & have found the right spot. Don't put up with that for any longer than you have to it's too stressfull.

Hi All
I was banded in Oct 2007, have lost - gained and am losing again. Problem is since my last fill I can hardly eat anything. Bread, raw fruit and veg, meat all get stuck. I am not overeating, and try to eat slowly.
When food get stuck I feel the only way to stop the pain is to put my fingers down my throat and make myself throw up. This is not acid reflux just pain.
I am scared that this will either damage my band or me, surely it cant be healthy to do this on a daily basis.
Has anyone else experienced this, is there anything I can do to stop the urge to purge.
Cheers
Michelle |

Shelly,
Hi. Generally your liquid/straw phase lasts 2 weeks. From there you go to mushies. Of course each doctor is different.
Did your doctor/dietician give you a list of rules to stick to?
Just a warning, be very careful with eggs when you up to eating normal foods. I would imagine you have little to no restriction at the moment so you may be able to eat them, there a lot of banded people who can't. I can eat quiche, I can't eat an omlette though.... work that one out! I can eat a poached egg one day and not the next! I did learn that if I eat a fried egg it needs to be cooked in a ring so the white is thick. If the egg runs all over the pan and cooks it is a lot tougher consistancy and I choke straight away.
Just remember everything in moderation. Are your soups home made? If they are they will fill you up more than your bought ones. Maybe make a hearty stew and whiz it up into nothing and eat that! Cauliflower and a lite cheese sauce was a favourite of mine.
If you doctor hasn't given you exact dates and a diet etc, ring the surgery and ask what they think. Tell them you don't think you can last 3 weeks, can you try slightly thicker liquids at 2 weeks and see what the say. My doctor let me have thicker fluids before I went onto the mushy/puree stage as I was hungry all the time.
Good luck

Hi there Luv me Gunners...
You could also join us at Sydband - there are quite a few of the central coasters who are members there as well... we all seem to be members of both. Those Central Coasters are a funny lot - you will love them.
Have a look at the sticky "Support Group" thread and join up.

Suzy
Well done. I am about the same (starting size as you). I hope I have the same attitude as you at the end of it. I am getting done 23 Frid. but I have failed at so many things before... I am always great for the first 3 months of a diet. I am so worried I will fail at this as well and all that money...... down the tube. I am a chocoholic!!!! If I get results like you - I would be extatic!!! |

Hi luv
If you aren't already a member there is a group called Central Coast Bandsters that have some of Dr Munro's patients. I'll put their website address below. Make sure to remove and spaces from the address that the Yahoo glitch puts in.
